It was bound to happen eventually. After nearly roughly fifteen years of being in the family, Ricky's old 1993 Ford F-150 truck was starting to wear out. The truck was old, and he probably should have been looking into getting it repaired an awful long time ago. Of course, Ricky had better things to do.

Now, he couldn't think of a single one of these better things off the top of his head, but at the time he was pretty sure they sounded 'better' or at least 'more fun.'

The truck had a seen a good life, marked by the years of worn and torn seating, taped-together gas pedal, broken back window, scratched surfaces, topped off with burn holes in the front seat and disturbing stains in the backseats. As the engine used the last of what it had left in it, Ricky pulled up into the repair shop - Hank's Garage - to finally take care of it.

Missing a driver's seat window, he poked his head out of the vehicle and shouted to the blonde girl who looked like she worked there.

"Hey, you reckon you can get this old girl back up to shape?" he asked. "The engine seems to be worn."

He opened the door and hopped out of the seat - the seatbelt had been missing for a decade - and slammed the door shut behind him.

The door bounced back and slammed to the ground.

"Also the door is broken."

Before the truck had even made it into the garage, the blonde had spotted it and called out to her coworker "Heap'a junk... 5'o'clock..."

The red-headed man took one look and simply called out "Not 'it!'"

"Yer an a**, Phil!" Shaking her head, she stepped forward towards the approaching vehicle. It was about that time the driver poked his head out of the driver's side window and called to her.

This guy wanted the truck to be repaired, despite how old it was. It was common knowledge that after a certain point, it was more cost effective to just buy a new, or at least newer vehicle. Before she had even answered him, he had already attempted to close the passenger door and instead the door fell off.

That was a good sign this vehicle was ready for the scrap heap.

"So tell me... how much ya lookin' t'spend?" she asked up front, easily cutting to the chase. "...because I can tell ya... there's a lot more ya need fixed up before yer ol' girl is 'back up t'shape'..."

Without an invitation, she already had moved up to the vehicle and sat herself in at the gaping hole that was now the passenger's side of the truck. Gold eyes were glancing about at all the little things that were in need of repair as well.

"Erm, I dunno," Ricky shrugged. He had almost entirely forgotten that he had to pay for such a thing. He opened his wallet and found twenty bucks and a condom. He may not be the brightest wick on the cake, but he was pretty sure that wasn't going to help him. He tried his darndest to remember how much he had in his savings that he could spare. "Maybe like, erm, two hundred?"

That was probably enough to get laughed out of the store, at the very least!

The blonde currently occupying the customer's vehicle blinked at the mention of his finances towards auto repair. Leaning out of the vehicle, she pointed towards the door on the ground with her foot. "Um... that's probably like... 800-1000 dollars right there... gettin' a new engine would cost 'bout 1000 dollars over what ya have towards this whole deal..." She rolled her wrist about in a circle, as if trying to gesture to the vehicle she was sort of sitting in.

She leaned forward a tad more, pressing her elbows against her knees and grinning at him. "Do ya have a job or somethin'? Ya could possibly set up a payment plan with my boss... but yer gonna need somethin' that ya can vouch by in regards t'gettin' more money fer this..."

There was a pause before she added "...so... what kind'a stains are those in back? Does it have an interestin' story to it?" It didn't seem like she was necessarily in a rush to hunt down Hank, more interested in hearing about the stories of the vehicle she was lounging about in at that very moment.

"Yerp, I do have a job," Ricky said proudly. "I'm a gardener! I ain't rollin' in dough or nothing, but them lovely housewives tip me awful nice during the summers. If I put some into savings, I reckon I could raise that money in a few weeks."

Ricky thought of another route for discount: he could try charming the girl. Of course, that is until she asked about the stains in the backseats. Honesty was always the best policy, right?

"Erm," his face went red. "I reckon that's a mixture of booze, sweat, maybe some vomit, food and other unmentionable things a pretty girl like yourself don't need to hear none about. It's mostly clean though, I scrubbed the seats down just the other week." Ricky was a bit warped on time here, as it was nearly a year ago.

"No particularly interestin' stories, just the normal wear and tear after a few too many wild nights of sins," Ricky shrugged. He didn't exactly view his behavior as sinful, but his mother frequently reminded him that he was going to hell. She meant the best, truly.

Her reply to his explanation was quite to the point. "Oh... so ya f*cked a girl in there... not th'first time I've heard that one." She shrugged her shoulders, not understanding the mindset of any girl who would want to do that sort of stuff in a hunk of junk like this vehicle.

Rather than linger looking at the backseats, she put her feet outside of the vehicle and stood up, leaning towards the obvious burns in the front seat so her butt was sticking out. Pushing a finger against the edges of the burns, she then asked "...So then what 'bout these ones... I mean... I know ya do th' 'gardenin' thing..." Which to her was not a very manly occupation. "...so I'm sure yer seats go through Hell an' all... but would ya want those fixed?"

With that she pulled herself out of the vehicle again. "I mean... yer seats look like sh*t..." She wasn't about to sugarcoat it. She lofted a hand upon her hip and quirked a brow at him. She had to wonder if he just enjoyed ruining an already clunky vehicle.

"Hey now it ain't total crap," he said, taking a step forward in defense. Of course, as he did this he stepped on the fallen car door, which just highlighted how much of a piece of crap his truck truly was. "It's seen better days, I'll admit. Though them burn holes ain't from me, their from my ma when she used to drive the car down in Alabama before she gave it to me. Woman smokes like a chimney I tell ya."

He flashed his normal dopey smile as did his best to defend himself - and his car. "Its more of a landscapin' business, I just have the lawnmower and other tools in the back bed of the trunk really. At least that's all good back there." It wasn't, but it was manageable. "I reckon with new seats too on top of er'ything else I might as well be lookin' to get a whole new truck, huh?"

He was just a few years older than the truck, so perhaps it was time for that.

The tomboy stood there, still with a hand on her hip and that same expression upon her face as he gave his excuses.

"...yeah... I am going t'guess that if I were t'crawl in th'bed of yer truck... it will look like sh*t..."

She moved as if she was going to crawl on in, but then paused right by the back tire as she hoisted one leg onto the tire. "I take it ya never heard of 'th'rule', eh? Unless yer a collector, ya don't keep a car that's ten years old fer practicality sake. After that point, it's really expensive t'replace and repair parts."

With that, she straightened the leg that was attached to the foot sitting upon the tire so she was hoisted up tall to see into the truck bed.

"...I actually know a pretty affordable place fer gettin' a used car..."

Most bosses in this industry might have gotten pissed off at their employee encouraging a customer to get a different vehicle instead of getting the repairs. However, that was just one convenience of her boss, Hank, being friends with her dad, the used car salesman. They didn't mind a bit of trade-off in customer base.

"Why, you don't say?" Ricky beamed. The thought of buying a used car was sounding way more enticing by the moment. Of course, in his mind he pictured himself buy a mint-condition but used neon green monster truck with orange flames all for just $50 and a condom. But then again, Ricky's mind was about yay big, so this wasn't anything out of the ordinary. "Ya think they'd have a truck I can afford there? I don't mind driving something that's used. I reckon you can tell that on account o' me drivin' this old thing fer too long."

"Where you from by the way?" he asked. He couldn't help but notice her accent - or to him, speaking the way people should speak compared to the weirdo city people language.

Since she was already at the right height, the girl stepped into the bed of the truck, almost like she was claiming it for herself in a childish game. From her new location, the already tall girl loomed over the truck's owner. "Used isn't a bad way t'go if ya know what t'look for..."

It was one of the things her dad hated about when she visited him at work. Ellie was never afraid of telling the customers about all the little problems she saw in the cars.

"I could call my dad and see if they've got any trucks over there this week..."

The question he asked did actually manage to catch her a bit off guard. "Uh... from here..." she pointed towards the floor, as if she was literally from that exact spot. However, she easily clarified what she meant. "Born and raised in Destiny City....... so what's it matter t'ya?" She was already crossing her arms, somewhat putting up her guard to this guy.

((Troy Page did accidentally announce his civilian name in the meeting, so if this takes place after that, you can feel free for her make the connection if you'd like! Up to you.))

"Aw, nothin'," Ricky shrugged. He didn't mean to offend her and he smiled a bit nervously. "Sounds like you got a slight accent, but don't worry, the accent's cute. I like it, makes me feel like home. Only been livin' here for just over a year and haven't felt quite as at home since."

"I didn't even say my name, I'm bein' a bit rude," he felt embarassed. "Name's Ricky Cunningham. And if yer daddy's the one with the used cars then I'd mighty appreciate it if you put me in touch with him. Not quite sure what to look fer in a car, though maybe you might be able to help?"

(I think I will go with this being before the meeting rather than after, but thanks for the heads up <3 )

Eyes were rolled. "Ya sound like my English teachers from high school... I ain't got an accent." She sounded more annoyed than upset, the sort of annoyed that a person would survive. The blonde really didn't care about the hint to this guy's life story, but she did care about the fact he had introduced himself.

Stepping up to the lip of the truck bed, she stepped onto it, then hopped down on the asphalt with a loud thud sort of sound. Once on ground level again, she straightened up and walked up to this "Ricky Cunningham" at her full height of 6 foot even. There were guys that still towered over her, but she still tended to enjoy showing off she wasn't a delicate flower, but more like a tall oak.

"It's only rude if yer not shakin' my hand when ya tell me yer name." She thrust out her right hand towards him, but paused for a moment to point to the little patch on her uniform with her left hand. "My name's already easy access... but I'm Ellie Spectre... my dad..." She emphasized the word so Ricky could get the idea she would never call him something so awful as daddy. "...is Ed Spectre... ya go there and ya just ask fer Ed."

Though Ricky had somewhat asked for her to assist him, she didn't offer any advice at that moment. Now was the time for shaking hands.

It better be good!

Ricky was still reading the name on the name-patch by the time she had introduced himself. He would have been able to read it and sound it out eventually, he was sure. He wasn't very much taller than her at six-foot-two, which isn't something he was used to, at least for not girls in the city. He grasped her hand and gave it a strong firm shake. He was a big boy with strong arms, but he didn't give any lighter of a shake just because she was a girl.

That'd be racist or sexist or something, he thought. One of those.

"Pleasure to meet ya', Ellie," he smiled.

Good man!

Her own handshake was a mighty firm one as well, compared to the dainty flowers that many girls tried to be.

Once the handshake was officially over, she then mentioned part of the problem she had with his request. "Anyways... yeah... I work... my dad works... I can't leave work t'show ya which of the used cars are good versus duds... I mean, I could try askin' my dad t'not be an a*****e... but somehow I don't think that'll do jack sh*t..."

Lightly moving upon her feet, she soon enough stooped herself down to the side of the fallen truck door. "And... if yer not plannin' on gettin' this stuff 'fixed up'... I can help ya put yer door in th'bed of yer truck... but I wouldn't be surprised if it was illegal t'drive 'round without yer door..." She snickered a bit. "If I were t'guess... that wouldn't stop ya from drivin' this thing 'round..."

"Shucks, it wouldn't be the first law I broke," he snickered back. He wouldn't classify himself as a criminal or anything, but he's got a criminal record for little misdemeanors here and there - skinny dipping, bar fights, and general belligerence. He squatted down and grabbed the car door and lifted it - he weight trained frequently so the actual lifting wasn't tough even at roughly two hundred pounds, but its shape and bulkiness wasn't what he was used to not to mention that he had to move it into the bed.

Ideally, he'd be able to show off his strength and do it on his own, but he had a feeling he'd struggle. He also got a hunch that Ellie would want to help. "If ya can grab the other end that'd be great."

"Maybe we can go to yer dad's place when yer offa work," he suggested as he held onto the door. "Y'know, together."
