Otto woke up from another night of flu ridden sickness. While he was better off than most trainees, he still felt like s**t. Leaving the comfort of his plush yet sweat stained bed, he decided he was well enough to get in a shower and maybe something to eat.
The idea of eating anything solid sickened him, so he was hoping there was still soup available.

The shower felt amazing, and almost tricked himself into thinking it cured him of his ailment. But as soon as the hot water stopped running over his head, he could feel that sick, dizzy feeling return. He couldn't remember the last time he felt so sick. No one ever really took care of him in the past when he felt ill except his Grandpa before he died, so dealing with it alone was no big deal.

Finally clean after days of sweating out a fever, Otto made his way to the cafeteria wearing a tshirt, pajama pants and a large towel draped over his head. No lines. Good. Maybe.

But as he neared the counter he could see.

There was only one bowl of soup left.

It was a few days after the epic flu-like epidemic.

The sickness was apparently worse for the trainees, not having as thick a fear-shield as the higher ranking officials. It still sucked for anyone effected, they sure would learn their lessons about fear exposure after this.

She still felt like she was hit by a herd of rampaging 18-wheelers, but she could at least move now...some. Bix had been around for a while but she honestly felt horrible depending on someone else when she was sick. She would show him, she SO could go grab her own food! The woman was garbed in a large shirt and PJ bottoms, not really caring exactly what she was wearing moving through the halls. Moving was painful enough still, so those whom said anything else could suck it.

Ceres was craving something warm, so it was little guess what she wanted as well. As she neared the food area though, she noticed someone else approaching the station with the soup as well, someone blond.

There was one bowl left.

Oh HELL no she did not make this walk only to be denied. She might be sick, but she was still Ceres... and she was stubborn as heck. So what did she do? Walk over and glare. Easy enough for someone sick.

As Otto got closer, his eyes caught site of another looking sick. He kind of recognized her. Her name escaped him though. More important, he knew what she was after. he could see it in her narrowed gaze. He muttered miserably.

His head turned to the counter, walking a little bit faster until he reached the counter. "I'll take the soup." He cast a glare at Ceres. No one was taking his food. No way he would eat anything but a hot, yummy soup. He'd dreamed of it while he was in bed, only able to stomach water for days.

He wasn't without sympathy, unfortunately. Which made him feel... ugh..sorry for her. "You look like Hell." He commented, his eyes looking her up and down with an incredulous expression.

"I dont think so, buddy, isn't the old saying 'ladies first?'." She said a moment after he proclaimed his claim on the soup, scooting in a little closer to try and take it as well. Under normal circumstances she wouldn't have minded giving it up and changing her menu decisions, but soup seemed to be the only food source she could stomach the past few days. Plus the fever, which still was hanging around yet to fully break from her, was making her cranky.

Poor Otto would see this ugly side of her.

"Your a fine one to talk." She grumped back at him, glancing his way to take in his condition too. She too felt sympathy, for anyone whom got this sickness. She was a healer at heart, so seeing so many sick and her unable to help killed her inside. "You look like you got into a fight with a hairbrush and lost."

"Aaaah nope." Otto proclaimed. "It's me first. Ladies can suck it." He tried to put his hand on the bowl before she did, to stake his full claim.

"Screw you, lady! I just haven't even brushed it yet." He grouched, pointing at his tousled and damp hair. "And I ain't gunna neither." As if she cared.

As if they both had the same thought at the same time, she grasped out and claimed the opposite side of the bowl that he had grabbed. Holding onto it firm, she hoped that made a silent, yet firm, notion that she was not giving up.

"...Firstly, im not 'lady', so please don't call me that anymore, capiche? If you want to address me call me by my name, which is Ceres." Crankyness battle, GO.

"Secondly, i have no intent of ever 'screwing' a stupid child like yourself. YES i get its a saying, but i currently feel like s**t, thus i don't give a s**t either." Ugh why of all people did she get to deal with a child? A bratty one even.

She made a tug at the bowl.

Otto's icy blue gaze stared at the girl as her hand grasped the bowl the same time he did. This was indeed a battle. A battle Otto was intent on winning. He'd let that soup go cold before he let this chick win. "Ceres Lady, whatever. It was that or b***h. I was bein' polite n' s**t." He said while he rolled his eyes.

But then... She called him a child. A stupid child.

Oh.. it was on.

His face went red, and not due to a fever. He tugged back on the bowl as she tugged on her end. "Too bad, you're missin' out." He snarked with a lip curled angrily. His little 17 year old pride had been bruised.

If this battle had taken any other turn, she might have just left the bowl. Or maybe split it. As it was heading? Yeah she really really doubted she was giving up.

"Im not sure if i should be surprised that you have such a dirty tongue or not. It's surely apparent no one ever taught you manners." She quipped back rolling her eyes. "Also, babe, I'm certain i am not missing anything that you can dish out." She had the urge to push the subject further, insulting more, but she chose to hold her tongue for now.

Unlike him, she was not at war with anything but the s**t making her sick inside her body right now.

It seemed she spoke too much though, because soon after she went into one of her large coughing fits. Even though they were still arguing she had the common enough curtiousy to bend forward and cough towards the ground. To both avoid Otto, and the food on the counter, from further contamination.

She still had a hold on the bowl though, just not as firm.

"S'what if no one did? What'do I need manners for? Sure ain't for you." Otto and manners didn't mix. He'd have to try really hard to come off as a decent member of society. Maybe that's why he left it all behind.

Her little insult would have made Otto bust out into a rage were he not still sick. The boiling anger inside was just making him dizzy, so all he managed to do was turn red again and furrow his brows. What did she know, anyway? Besides, she got hers. That coughing fit served her right. He'd have laughed but his stomach didn't feel so good, so he settled for...

..tugging on the bowl with both hands, since she seemed distracted.
PostPosted: Mon Jul 16, 2012 6:05 pm

And he was rewarded from the final tug, because she did let go. Only before that her grip was still pretty firm, so theres a chance he lost some of the food in the tug.

She was too busy coughing to really give a crap, and now that her hand was free? She just pushed it for leverage on the table.

"..You.. Augh." She said, bringing herself back up, eyes red from the strain of the fit. Using a hand she wiped the etars away from her eyes, and shook her head. "Whatever, take it."

She gave up a little too easily, why?

He won! He lost some of the soup.. but he won! He held the bowl with one hand, licking his hand from some discarded soup that had spilled on it as he watched Ceres recover from her fit. Huh.. she gave up?

Otto looked at the bowl. Then to Ceres. Then to the bowl. Then to Ceres.

He raised a brow suspiciously. "Huh.. so now what'll ya do?" He asked, trying not to too sound curious. He slowly grabbed a spoon, eyeing the girl as if she might throw a smoke bomb.

In all honesty, the arguing had just made her lose her appetite. Besides she was still wary of what the hell they might put IN this food... maybe she would go back and attempt to eat some of the chips that Bix left in her room.

Urp, nope. Didn't sound too appetizing either.

Though there was still the issue of the dude in front of her, holding the soup over her head like it was some huge victory. Oh yeah, she had half the urge to tip the bowl over, maybe spill the contents on the floor... That was entirely just the cold rearing its ugly head, when it came down to it at the end of the day Ceres was really not THAT mean. But she could totally think it, it made her feel better.

"I think, for now, ill be the adult." Subtle knock at Otto once again, but only the underlaying meaning. "And wait until later to eat. Besides, that was the last bowl. Who knows what someone might have put in it?"

The adult huh? The jab had Otto prickling with annoyance. It was a real sore spot. It always got his blood boiling.

The accusation that it might be sabotaged was met with a scoff. "You're only sayin' that cause I have it.." he grouched, dipping a finger in the soup to check how warm it was. It was.. kind of warm. He wanted hot soup. "Whatever.. it's not even hot.. You have it."

He set the bowl down and started to walk away. He wasn't hungry anymore.

Was he sulking about being seen as a child?

You bet your a**.

"...There is a microwave right over there." She lifted a arm and pointed to the other side of the room. "That will fix any problems you have with temperature. Besides, you just stuck your finger in it, the soup is automatically yours." Like she would eat it after him doing that anyways.

Wrapping her arms around herself she shivered once, before turning away. Might as well head back towards her dorm, if there was nothing here to eat. Sleep sounded good.

"Pooor muffin~ Can't take a finger in her soup. Ya one'a them bitches that cries when a bug falls in her drink too?" He cackled softly to himself, taking up the soup again and heading to the microwave.

"Gee, if ya weren't so damn picky, I mighta shared." He slid the bowl into the microwave and set the time.

Hot soup ahoy~
