THE HUMAN WORLD

THE HUMAN WORLD

Horsemen, may also revisit the statue that Medea found (prior to Hunter PVP). If they activate it, they will see a half-shattered mirror inside a room. However, it is still warm to the touch: activating it will send them (HORSEMEN ONLY) to the Human World.
- OOC: If you are making a HUMAN WORLD rp, please post in the MAIN section of the TiH forums (Amityville/Halloween) and label your rp as HUMAN WORLD. This rp is open for HORSEMEN ONLY.

gaia_crown [SETTING]: Right now the Human World only sends Horsemen to one area: a very small dwelling of Humans that make easy pickings.
Horsemen can go to this area of the Human World (a pine forest area, north, chill and quiet, with a small village next to a river) and raid it for Fear. Due to potential Hunters, they should not go alone, and most likely, should not try to attract that much attention.

gaia_crown [FEAR HARVESTING]: Horsemen can harvest Fear from the Humans. They may capture and kill as many Humans as they'd like: even manifest a bit of their appearance to terrify the humans. Humans normally cannot see Halloween creatures, but Horsemen have learned through centuries how to easily manifest their form into one of abject terror.
- It is recommended that Horsemen Fear Harvest together in small groups, as one of them can keep a watchful eye out for danger as well.
- Killing Humans also yields a GREAT amount of Fear but is extremely risky, as it might attract unwanted attention. Usually a good amount of 2-3 humans killed will yield enough Fear for horsemen for days. Elderly humans make the best targets for killing, while scaring humans without killing is most easily done with children for optimal FEAR harvesting.
- To FEAR HARVEST, simply roll a 100-sided dice and match your dice roll to the results below. You can do this THREE TIMES per character.

1- 20: You see a small child, and they stare straight up at you, recoiling in terror as they watch you manifest your Fear to a more tangible shape. You will probably give them nightmares for months on end, but you manage to get an incredible amount of Fear from it. The feeling is overwhelming. +2 Fear
21 -40: You walk around, unseen, until you see a couple by the river, moving around unassuming. You quickly manifest your Fear and show them bits and pieces of your form, what they probably see as dark shadows, a sense of terror, a fear of the unknown. They scream, holding each other, one of them tells the other you run. You can't help but feel almost intoxicated by the Fear and draw it out to the very last minute, letting the scene play out before you kill them both. +2 Fear
41 - 60: You see an elderly woman who walks around nervously. They are a prime target, and you quickly manifest your Fear and watch as they scream and scream... their death is quick and painless. +1 Fear
61 - 80: You notice that there are suddenly way too many humans milling about: humans in numbers means a less effective ability to harvest Fear from a single human. You wait your time for the crowd to thin out.
81 - 100: You sense a presence nearby, something else - another creature of Halloween perhaps. However, it does not matter as you quickly search for another target...

gaia_crown [FEAR CALCULATION TOTAL]: Oocly, you can only do this once, though you can have unlimited IC Fear harvests with others.

- If you have collected 5+ FEAR: For the next 10 consecutive attack turns, CARRIED OVER UNTIL USED UP you MAY use your horsemen's special effect: Every time your horsemen hits successfully, add + 1 attack to their attack power. This works even in GM battles.

- If you have collected 3+ FEAR: For the next 5 consecutive attack turns, CARRIED OVER UNTIL USED UP you MAY use your horsemen's special effect: Every time your horsemen hits successfully, add + 1 attack to their attack power. This works even in GM battles.

- If you have collected 1+ FEAR: For the next 3 consecutive attack turns, CARRIED OVER UNTIL USED UP you MAY use your horsemen's special effect: Every time your horsemen hits successfully, add + 1 attack to their attack power. This works even in GM battles.

Medea's sudden disappearance was, in fact, most inconvenient. Unwanted. Unpleasant. After their sudden trip to, what turned out to be a minipet land, after their minipet experience, when everyone had so many questions... what was that priestess thinking, if she rushed towards something interesting, and probably dangerous, all alone? She had, like, the whole clan at her service, some of the best fighters in the realm, yet she preferred to rely just on herself, those were the thought of an enraged alchemist.

On the other hand, there were some good news: visiting the statue Medea did find, Eisheth discovered that activating it launched the portal to the Human world! She had been there before, she spent a lot of time in the lairs, in the first place, so she couldn't be mistaken. That was clearly the human world, and probably a remote part of it (her geographical skills were not good enough to actually recognize the area, but she was almost positive she had not been there before). Humans. HUMANS. HARVESTING FEAR. TORTURING HUMANS. KILLING HUMANS!!!

She was quite excited.

Eisheth still wasn't feeling well about their so called battle with the hunters, and anyways, the opportunity to harvest some Fear was too tempting. Queen, she haven't harvested fear for, like, ages. Fortunately, she was clever enough to understand that won't be a good idea to go there alone; her recent encounter with the hunters proved she should not underestimate them, so the horsewoman had a little talk with others, starting with her fellow clansmen.

So, the alchemist was patiently waiting near the stature for somebody to appear. Well, may be not so patiently twisted

Since their adventures in minipet-land, Kiwi had found himself feeling a bit lost. Almost as if something were missing. He had tried to recall what had happened in those last moments of battle, but for the FEAR of him, couldn't. Instead, the horseman attempted to sleep it off, but woke up feeling much the same as he had before. There was and emptiness inside him. A craving, a longing, a need ... and that need restlessly led him past the reserve and back to Amityville, to the very statue that Medea had formerly touched, revealing a path to the human world.

The site of Eisheth standing by the same statue was mildly surprising to him. ... Had she been led here as well?? ...

"Eish, what are you doing here??! ..." His mixed feelings were troubling him. And when troubled, Kiwi preferred to hide that fact. Too bad he wasn't very good at hiding things. "A-are you searching for Medea as well?? ..." He had overheard some horsemen speaking about the incident on his way. Curious she would be away from the reserve at all, but she hadn't been acting quite herself since the incident either.

Heidla still could not get a good hold of her feelings. She was feeling distorted, upset, fragmented - and now, with the disappearance of the head priestess, she was also feeling betrayed. Wasn't it the way the shards predicted? In the end she would be left all alone. That was freaking miserable. Freaking unpleasant. Freaking upsetting. Inconvenient. Awkward. She felt words boiling in her head and in her mouth. She was feeling small - as if she were still in the minipet form. She felt lonely. She wanted to cry. Soooo un-Death-ly. Soooo un-priestess-ly. Sooo the other Heidla.

She stumbled upon things and moved without seeing her path. Suddenly she felt familiar presence. Famine clansmen, the ones she almost got close to - as if she could ever be close to someone.

"Kiwi. Eishbeth." She didn't call out to them. She just recognized their presence. "What the jack are you doing here", she added grimly. As if she wanted someone to see her that distressed. As if she needed company now. But didn't she?

"Forget about Medea", Eisheth clearly looked agitated. "I've got better news for you both. I managed to activate the statue, and it opens the portal to the Human world; I've tried getting there already, and checked it out. Don't say you don't miss harvesting some fear!", the alchemist poked her cousin.

She sighed, and sounded much more calm now, casting a glance towards the horsemen. "The portal leads to a remote area, there's a little settlement there, and some neat localities. I didn't notice a sign of hunters, but we should be careful, that's why I didn't want to go alone", she explained. "We might be cautious and not really set it on fire, but guess, scaring Jack out of some mortals would be handy". To tell the truth, gaining some fear would be really useful.

"What do you say?"

Given her depression, that was not a bad idea. Actually, that was a good idea. If she were not to attack everyone around, be it horsemen, students and minipets, she would be happy to go anywhere to fight. To kill. To revenge. To suppress her desolation and her feeling of loss and loneliness. Argh, whatever.

"Count me in, Famine", she nodded. "I will go with you".

Probably that would make her feel better after all.

Kiwi was tired. This strange emptiness was really affecting him. But at the sound of the word FEAR, a chilling ripple passed along the horseman's spine. It was like his body instinctively knew what it craved. He could still recall the immense energy that flowed through him during the last raid with the hunters. And some deep, inner part of him craved for more. A glimmer lit in the boil's eye, and he nodded. "It just might help whatever seems to be ailing us. Besides, I still want to give those wretch humans a taste of my scythe's sweet blade."

"Let's go then!", concluded the alchemist.

They appeared in a tiny pine forest; the weather was a bit cold comparing to Halloween, and Eisheth felt pity she didn't bring some warmer clothes. Now, they definitely have to get engaged in a fight, just to warm themselves a bit. As the horsemen walked through the portal, she looked around attentively: a small river was flowing near the woods, with a tiny settlement standing next to it. A little noise caught her ear: two humans, probably a couple, were heading down the river.

Well, that can be a good beginning: the Famine horseman manifested her Fear, the skill that now seemed only natural to her, after being exposed like that for hundreds of times through hundreds of human years. What would humans eyes see? Probably a cloud of dark shadows covering the entire area, and a sudden feeling of panic. One of the humans told another to run, and they did run indeed; the first one fell on their knees terrified. Eisheth felt drunk, her head was light, and her senses were sharp as never: probably a large portion of living fear was intoxicating her after such a long break. That was a pleasure, a primordial simple pleasure, she sucked the Fear out of them, like a leech sucking the blood of its victim. That was hard for her to stop: only after she made sure to get every single Fear particle out of them, she allowed herself to quickly finish the humans. Probably it could be wiser to let them go: after restoring themselves they could probably produce more fear, but they were not in a situation to hold back. And, what's more important, they may not have another chance, so she concluded it would be better not to live the witnesses. There were quite enough humans for all of them here, anyway, and the almost forgotten feeling of killing was sweet and warming.

Kiwi crossed right behind Eisheth, tingling with anticipation. The memory of their last hunt was still fresh on his mind. And with it, his senses heightened. Something caught the horseman's eye. He glanced around, and slowly began to realize a familiar sort of FEAR. Another creature of Halloween was nearby?? ... With humans present, he wasn't surprised, however he wouldn't let them take his chance from him.

"... Seems there may be others of us here. Be careful with your attacks." he remarked, still searching the darkness for a likely target.

The air in the human world smelled different. It was cold and soothing, as if calming down the whirlpool of feelings in Heidla's head. This chill reminded her of home. Right, the weather seemed quite deathly - she looked at her famine companions, definitely ill at ease with this wind. Well, she pitied them for not being able to enjoy that freedom...

Freedom. The voices in her head calmed down, she became cold and distant and concentrated on gathering fear. A hunter - that was their true essence, the worst predators of the fear realm, horsemen of all clans. She spotted her target easily - an elderly female, slow, silly, almost too weak a catch, ready to be frightened at no expense at all. Heidla was almost disappointed that she need not put more effort in it. That wasn't enough, the human screamed too easily and died too soon. The priestess didn't have enough time to enjoy it. "Sorry", she muttered to her companions. "Next time I will try to pick up someone who would bring us more fun".

Upon finding the main tent cold and deserted, Mmur had somehow ended up in the vicinity of Medea's statue. He was searching for something, he had been since they had returned from their strange sojourn into the closet, but it wasn't here. The hollow feeling remained, even after he noticed the nauseating sparkle of a shattered mirror nearby, even after he touched it and was transported.

The horseman was delighted to see his brethren nearby, or rather feel them, but his delight was muted. His heart was under water. Mmur ventured forward, his steps light and soundless. He shouldn't have gone to the human world. His life was in Halloween now, and as exhilarating as killing those hunters had been, the consequences had ended up being too severe. He couldn't trust himself. At first, taking the shape of one of the tiny animals so prevalent here had been a novelty, a harrowing one, but a novelty nonetheless. But... things had changed. He had fought himself. He had lost. Mmur had never imagined that he might be the one to fear.

As he rounded a particularly thick pine, he finally saw them. Eisheth. Kiwi. He wasn't as familiar with the priestess of Death, but he was becoming knowledgeable enough with their sort to recognize her position by appearance alone. Surprisingly, any warmth he felt toward them was eclipsed by what they were doing. His stomach dropped. His heart swam, kicking and flailing until he felt he could breathe again. Mmur didn't doubt. He wouldn't regret what he was about to do until he was alone again, wondering why the ache in his chest wouldn't go away.

Humans. Fresh for the harvest.

The soldier peered through the trees, scouting the area for danger and stragglers. Spotting an older human away from the group, Mmur swooped in, pushing all of the most terrifying parts of himself until they formed something solid. The woman shrieked, the store of breath in her lungs pouring out as she fell backward. Mmur quickly perched over her, pushing, pushing, pushing, until finally, she was gone.

Eisheth seemed to delve too far into the human settlement; that was a tiny town, though the horsemen appearance probably have disturbed the dwellers, for a moment the alchemist felt like an entire city population crowded the streets. She was unseen to them, though her presence appeared to be quite palpable. That wasn't good: a big number of humans wasn't that effective for fear harvesting, and besides killing them all would catch too much attention.

The horseman headed back to the outskirts and summoned her mount to patrol the suburban area. That's where she actually met others: Kiwi and Heidla were doing pretty well, as they were emanating some fresh powerful Fear. "Don't let your guard off", she warned them, "I'm not sure, but we might not be alone. Let's harvest as much Fear as possible without setting a havoc, it will definitely be handy later".

Surprisingly, she noticed Mmur, who seemed to just finish the elderly human woman. Her heart, if it actually existed, felt a little pain, while she observed her fellow clansman: with all her inner trauma after their returning from the land of minipets, she was quite positive Mmur was experiencing something much deeper and more painful. At least, some fresh Fear particles were glowing around his body, as if they were caressing him to relax. Eisheth nodded to him, and lowered her voice: "Are you all right? You look... like you are not yourself. Is there anything I can do for you? Take this Fear, at least, it should let you feel better".

Erintis watched from the edge, there was a small gathering near the statue that their hig preiestess had discovered. She smiled when she recognized Mmur and Heidla, straining to hear she watched as they all touched the statue. Frowning slightly she wasn't sure about getting near the statue she still had that void left when she came back from that horrible dream. But at the same time she didn't really want to be left alone here.

Slowly with her head down and her robes pulled tightly around her she walked to the statue. Looking at the statue she saw a shattered mirror shuddering slightly as she reached out her hand.

She suddenly found herself in the human world. She smiled seeing her surroundings. She had managed to appear near a river, oh this would be fun. Turning when she heard a soft muffled noise, there was a frail elderly woman there in front of her. A slight smile on Erintis' lips as she slowly slipped her boline out from her robes,

"Oh...hello..."

She could see the fear in the elderly womans eyes when the silver flash of the boline reached her,

"Please...scream..."

Erintis lunged and relished in the screaming until the elderly woman fell to the ground dead.

"...that was sadly not as fulfilling as I remembered."

Could it be that they were targeting a home for elderly people? Almost all their victims were weak. Their easy fear was not enough to satiate hunger and disappointment in Heidla's breast. She needed more! She wanted to pour her power out of her, to rage, to reek of fear and violence so that her very presence would be enough to make every living being shift uneasily and look for light.

Mmur's head snapped up like a frightened bird's, but there was no fear in his eyes, only a wild and forceful anger. He looked down at the human sprawled at his feet, then back at Eisheth. The FEAR feeding into him calmed him a bit and he managed a shaky smile for the alchemist.

"Thank you. I am... not as I used to be, but I will come back to myself in time." He sounded more confident than he felt, but he knew that if he never found himself again, if he gave himself over to madness, he wouldn't care what he had said now anyway. "Did you create the portal here? I found an open mirror. I think it will do me some good. The hunt." There had been too little blood in this woman's death. He yearned for more victims.
