Crius was not a little baby anymore. At least that’s what she told herself when the anxious feeling that was quickly growing in her chest became truly uncomfortable. She was a young and strong lioness – again, she told herself – and if she wanted to stray a little from her mother she was perfectly allowed to do so. Well, she was alone now but with no ideas as to what one did when they left on their own. Well, mom hunted… so perhaps she would feel better if she tried to do the same.
Of course, finding prey that fit her size might prove to be difficult as the little dark girl couldn’t grab anything bigger than a hare but the sudden appearance of a colorful bird quickly settled her mind. Unfortunately, the sound of Crius dropping to a crouch was enough to startle the bird and the young girl ran furiously after the winged creature and didn’t stop even after the bird had taken to the sky. Panting exuberantly, the juvenile was forced to give up.
“Stupid bird!” it should’ve stayed still and let her catch it!

Nuru licked his lips and bit down into a huge fish that was twice the size of his body. He recalled the way he had caught the fish and how it just layed there on the land well he feasted.
A squeaky voice came from below. "I hope I was delicious." The half eaten fish rolled its eye slowly towards the male cheetah.
"Holy-" Nuru snorted awake the words 'crap' slipped out as he looked around in a haze. It had all been a weird dream and he shuddered at the thought of dead food talking. The sun was high in the sky, it was the perfect time for rest... or atleast to him it was. The sound of a faint squawk alerted him of something else was nearby. He layed still for a moment deep within his temporary cave home debating whether or not to check out the noise. "Birds. Such noisey creatures."

Crius turned around quickly. She could’ve sworn that she’d heard something like a snort and a few distant words and not from the direction from which she’d come. Her heart started beating faster. She didn’t feel alone but at the same couldn’t see anyone around her. It was actually quite scary and she instinctively looked in her den’s direction. She hadn’t strayed too far, had she? The others would still hear her if she shouted for help… right?
“Show yourself!” she called out to the God or spirit or whatever “thing” was playing tricks on her mind. “I know you’re here! I heard you!” she waited for an answer with a tense and defiant expression.

Nuru blinked at the sound of a frightened squeaky female voice. Curious and curiouser. "Hello?" He wandered cautiously closer with light feet no sounds were heard by his walking. The sight of a lone young lioness made him pause. He never was good with the young ones. "Ah, a cub." He spoke stating the obvious and wearily looking around incase the mother would attack. "Are you lost?" His words came out tentively as he took in her pretty eyes. Never had he seen eyes red as that. "Maybe I can help you find your mother or father?" Sweat trickled down from his forehead feeling a bit nervous. Day was not his time for thinking, it was as if his mind were in a fog. Bah, sunlight. "Um..." He paused and waited for the other to speak.

Crius jumped when a shape seemed to materialize from nowhere and something tall and unexpected approached her.
“You are, you are…” Not a God. Not a spirit. “… a cheetah!” her eyes were wide and her previously fearful posture gave way to an expression of pure excitement and delight.
“I’ve never seen… I’d never seen a cheetah before!” his question rolled right over her head. “Your legs are so thin! What if they break? And you’re tall but not as much as daddy! And your tail!” she looked shocked for a moment. “It doesn’t have hairs!!” She circled the very real creature with bouncy steps, looking delighted beyond measure.

"Why yes," He blinked and found a smile creeping on his face in amusement. "Yes I am. I haven't seen a cub in such a very long time." He too looked at her curiously and snorted with semi-silent laughter at the tail hair crack. " Nope, no hair tails for our breed. Our breed is thin inorder to run faster." He explained in simple terms. "Well, I suppose if they were to break then... I don't know if I were to survive unless I were to find a healer depending on the break, and even then I don't think it would be a pleasant life... not being able to run." He tilted his answer trying to recall her question, hopefully he answered them all. She certainly was a lively little thing with her bundle of energy cute-attitude. "Care to join me? I was on my way to find water to swim or possibly a drink."
Mogami Sorry about the wait! @_@ its been... a long week.

Tara de Draiocht So sorry for the delay! I've also been crazy busy thesepast few days! “Well, I think leopards don’t have big hairs there either…” she considered the matter of feline tails for a few moments. “My tail is better to swat flies.” She finally said with something akin to pride, though it was unclear what she felt proud about.
The matter of broken legs sounded like some very bad business so she decided to ignore that particular answer. When she was finally done with her examination, the young lioness sat down in front of the cheetah.
“I can’t go with you, silly. You’re a straanger. Daddy wouldn’t like that.” She tilted her head to the side. “You have clouds on your coat.”

Nuru was amused. This female cub was adorable and pleasant which was a nice change. "I see, yes I suppose your tail would be." He gave a nod of agreement and followed her example with a graceful sitting position. "Oh, I suppose you and your father are right." He sort of ignored the fact she shouldn't be talking to strangers either. "Never go off with those you don't know."
He looked down at his pelt grunting with approval. "Yes, I have both stars and clouds. Usually I spend my days resting and my nights...well wandering around. I love the stars such pretty shiney things that come from way up high." His eyes flickered to a dangling fruit off to the left. The branch wasn't too high so he wandered over, knocked it down, and picked it up with his mouth before coming back to the little one. "I'm a bit thirsty and seeing as there is no water around this fruit will suffice- " He broke it in two. "Here if you want some. Oh~ I'm Nuru'Nox by the way from what I was told a long time ago it means 'Day and Night'."

Crius nodded vehemently as the cheetah repeated one of the basic rules of safety before moving a bit closer to inspect the tiny glowing spots on the cheetah’s coat.
“Oh, these are stars!” she said brightly looking mildly surprised, obviously only noticing the small markings at that moment. “It’s like a piece of the sky fell on you and became stuck! Were you born this way or were you white before and then touched the sky?”
She eyed the fruit curiously, never having eaten anything similar before looking up at the male again.
“I’m Crius! I… don’t know what it means.” She frowned, saving the question for later. The meaning of her name probably wouldn’t be as interesting as his anyway. “And my daddy’s name is Athena. I look just like him!” Her last statement was said with obvious pride.

"Indeed they are," He went a little crosseyed as he too inspected his fur. He blinked with delighted surprise, it really was adorable how Crius came up with the "falling of the sky" aspect. He quite liked it. "I wish that had happened, but nothing too glamorous like that. I was born this way and I can't really tell you if I look like my mother or father as I was abandoned. Crius, I like it-" He smiled before taking a bite of his fruit. "It's different. Oh, I see. His name sounds like that of a warrior; a good and strong name." Nuru took her obvious pride for her father. He started to get antsy about leaving, but he didn't want to leave Crius unattended. She was beginning to go on him a little bit with her bundles of curiousity and creative ideals. "Is it just you and your father?"

“Oh.” Crius started with obvious disappointment. She’d hoped for a more fascinating story. The part that followed it caught her by surprised and she pondered on the words carefully. All she’d known growing up was the loving care of her parents, what could she possible say to his revelation? Crius was momentarily stunned, confused. She’d never had so many questions on her mind but they were all terribly prying or just downright rude.
“I live with daddy and mommy. I have a sister and a brother.” She’d been pulled from her thoughts by the commenting regarding her father’s name but she was still fairly uncomfortable. “Umh… I should go back before they worry.” She gave him an apologetic smile.

"Oh alright if that is what you wish," Nuru bit his lip and he could tell he was making Crius uncomfortable. He wasn't doing it on purpose, far from it, he was just a rambler. "Well, thank you for the chat and I think it would be best for you to go back with your family. There are many things out that-" He paused not wanting to scare such a young one. "are not so nice."
He stood for a moment waiting for the cub to stand up and wander back the way it came. He wanted to follow but he had a feeling that would scare Crius. "Take care!" He shouted out at her receding back before he too turned around and wandered away.
END!
