Mkhai could have lost himself in his thoughts if it weren't for the crashing of the waves. It grounded him, the ever familiar rise and fall. He had become fascinated with the sea lately, at every spare moment he found himself plunging into the waves. Now, sitting on the rocky shore, he could only focus on the tightening layer of raw salt drying into his coat. He needed to find her again, to make his senses come alive. Only she could do that for him, no matter what ill rumors he heard about the Einaliai he knew the truth. She was wonderful, enchanting, addictive. He had to share the truth with others, but then he would have to share her. No, he wouldn't do that.

The last meeting she had with Mkhai, hadn't produced the cubs she had hoped for. Though her mother had thought she would be by now, she was finding it was harder than she had initially thought. She had told her mother she would be back, and she was off to find someone to help her in her goal.
As much as Mkhai was on her mind, she wasn't sure that he would be the one she would find. She hoped so.. She hoped he was all she ever found again. She had liked him.. A lot.. Almost the feeling that mother said she had towards her consort. Though, Aquaria was the time to actually feel.. Where her mom was all about duty.

Once her paws hit the other side of the sand, she cast one more glance to her home before setting out on to her mission. Her eyes scanned the beach, looking for any sign of life. She wanted company, regardless of what kind of company that would be.

When he spotted her on the horizon he couldn't be sure she wasn't simply a hallucination, and for a moment he couldn't bring himself to budge from his post. If she wasn't real it would be devastating, and if she was well, he could already feel his heart pounding in his paws. She inspired a fervor in him that not even the mightiest warrior could bring to the forefront. Watching her, even in silence, made him feel young and powerful again. He would have given up everything past present and future to bury himself beneath her feet if only she would have him there. But they were to remain in different worlds. Softly at first he began to hum her song.

As much as she liked the male that haunted her memories. She was aware that it was a doomed romance, the way it had always been. She was never going to get to revel in his attentions and love. Though to be honest, she wasn't really sure she wanted love. She liked affection, attention, and a warm body. Love wasn't really something she had ever considered. Hell, she didn't even know what love was.

Normally the song that she would sing, and hum, would.. well.. be coming from her. So when she heard the song, she stopped in her tracks. Her ears perked, and for a moment she almost looked like a deer in headlights. Then her blue eyes landed on the male who she had been thinking about. For a second she wondered if she was seeing things..

She started humming the song too, a little louder in hopes he would hear her. Her eyes narrowed mischeviously, and she began smiling, stepping closer to him. He was like the ocean, and she had found him again.

When he heard her voice atop his it was as if a lock had been released and a rush of energy flooded through him. Almost at once Mkhai had gone from his stumbling pace to bounding to her side, so quickly in fact that he nearly collided with her. His paws kicked up sand as he worked to slow himself, his heartbeat thudding over and over again in his ears.

He couldn't hear her over it anymore, but he didn't have to to know that she was really real. He could smell her and then, sending a shiver down his spine, he reached out and touched her with his forehead. And she didn't melt away. That alone was enough to make him feel like time had stopped. If only it had, he would spend eternity with his face buried in her fur.

She swayed side to side, sashaying a bit as she walked closer. He was as handsome as she remembered. Though she ran into a lot of handsome lions when it came down to it. But this one, he had stuck on her mind like glue. She would have to quit that, as the odds of him becoming her consort and following her home were slim.. But.. She could enjoy the time they had together.. and maybe he would continue coming to see her in the future.

When he ran to her, his steps graceful even though he was fighting the sand underneath his paws. She had begun to think he wasn't going to stop, and she placed up a paw. He finally slowed, and her paw was resting on his chest. She smiled, and then placed it back against the earth.

"Mkhai.. It's been too long." She said, her voice as seductive as she had been trained. She circled him, then sat in front of him once she had made a full cycle around him.

"I thought," he gasped, trying to settle himself, "I though maybe I wouldn't see you again, I've been looking." The thought had terrified him, but he wouldn't admit that. Since he'd come to reside with the Myrsky he found himself more wary of expressing everything he felt.

He'd been told that these mermaids were deceitful. But that couldn't be true, not if Aquaria was one of them. She was his starlight, his entire reason for staying in this place. If he couldn't have her, he couldn't imagine what he would do. He wanted no other. But he knew she felt no commitment to him, and that made him worry that one day she might not come to meet him anymore. Once she'd gotten what she wanted, would she? He preferred not to think about it.

She saw the look of desperation in his face. She heard it in his voice too, and it made her smile inwardly. She liked knowing that she had that kind of affect on him. Though she leaned in and took a breath of his scent before chuckling.

"You have been busy." She said, her voice still it's sing song style that she usually had. He had been living with the Vikings, which were a step under pirates in her opinion. But she wouldn't tell him that. He was still better than pirates, regardless of where he was.

"I'm sorry I left you worrying, my sweet." She felt no commitment towards him, but she felt..something.. Not that she was sure what it was. Though she planned on meeting him as long as he wanted her to. She wasn't sure how long it would be before the Vikings filled his head with drivel about her.

"I've found a place," he told her with wide eyes, "They tell such lies, but I was told my sons might be there. That might be a lie too." He trailed off, feeling for a moment like he might have betrayed her in taking up with the vikings. It wasn't as if he felt a real connection to them, nor was he to become a reaver any day soon, but it was some sort of home when she wasn't around. "I haven't seen any of my sons so far," he admitted, "But there was a young one, he looked so familiar, I think I helped him with his own father."

That might in some way make up for his failings toward his own cubs. "Sing me a song?" he begged, laying himself out on the damp sand beside her, "I have dreams where we spend the rest of our lives just here, but the words always fade to nothing."

She leaned into him to run a paw around his cheek as she sighed. She knew he was a good guy, and she half wondered if he was particularly out of place in the Stormborn. But when she had heard they told lies, she wondered if any were about her. She felt a pang of irritation, though she didn't show it outwardly.

"I'll sing to you. Then you can remember the words in your dreams." She said, her voice breathy as she used her paws to guide him back in a laying position. She then placed herself beside him, running her paw around his cheeks again as she began humming.

The first thing that came to mind, was a song her mother had sung so many times before.

"My heart is pierced by cupid... I disdain all glittering gold. There is nothing can console me.. but my Jolly sailor bold." She sang, then went back to humming.

He hummed along with her, dragging his head back and forth through the sand until his mane was littered with bits of glimmering shell and rock. He would abandon everything to follow her back into the waves, but he knew he'd only drown. That wouldn't be so bad even, as long as she was there with him. But there were things yet he didn't know, worlds left unexplored, sensations yet unexperienced. Perhaps he could convince her to experience some of those things with her. She seemed to have desires of her own, though she would not tell him all he wished to know. He wasn't sure if it was longing, sadness, or something else entirely in her voice but it was intoxicating. "What do you dream of?" he asked, his eyes bright against the swiftly advancing darkness on the beach.

He began humming with her, and she smiled softly. She had a great many songs that she liked to sing to others.. But this one.. This one was her favorite. She was lucky she had been blessed with a angelic singing voice. Or at least, that was what she had been told and she wasn't about to disagree!

Then he asked her about dreams. What did she dream of? She met his eyes, which were so bright against the darkness. She couldn't help but become entranced herself. He had a power over her too, no matter how much she tried to fight it.

"I dream of the ocean. I always see the stars reflecting off, glittering in a perfect night. It's peaceful." She said, smiling as she thought of it. Her dreams were like magic, and she could do anything she wished.

"Would you swim with me?" he asked, his voice picking up in tone as he scrambled to his feet against the collapsing sand. He could feel the little shells bits of debris digging into his paws but nothing could phase him now, not with her sharing such personal thoughts. They were close, maybe she even loved him. She didn't need to say it. "In the water, we can disappear where no one would ever find us. We can make a world that's all ours." It was nice to dream about at least.

She cocked her head, a small smile escaping her maw. She almost chuckled. Didn't he know the stories of her kind? They drowned lions out in those depths, or at least that's what the lore said. Mermaids were a mystery, and that was how they planned to keep it.

"We can swim, if you promise to keep afloat." She said, her eyes glittering with mischief as she stood. She wasnt as enthused as he was, but his excitement was cute.

"The only world the sea provides, is a very, very dark one. Best to not disappear there." She teased, and she slid her body against him before walking slowly towards the water.

"I'll stay close," he agreed, keeping one eye on the sky as he sunk into the cool waves until the water lapped at the sides of his mane. He felt weightless, the whole world of burdens leaving his body. If all the days could end like this he'd be able to die happy. Albeit he hoped that day wouldn't be coming soon, but in a world of chaos one never really knew. He'd found home, finally, and nothing would ruin it for him. Now if only he had his family, that would make it even better.
