Hey, I'm making a Misha costume from Pita Ten for C.N.Anime 06, and I hve dyed my hair pink before but it was really short, and I cut off the dyed protion when my hair grew back out. So my question is, Will my dyed hair be ok? Or will it look tacky beyond all repair? Also has anyone tired Manic Panic dye? Does it really last a month?

Not being too familiar with the character I'm going to give ths my best shot.

If your hair is close to the characters and you don't mind have permanent pink hair for awhile then go for it. Manic Panic I'm told you are really going to have to go the whole nine yards, you know bleaching and all that. But thats not from experience so take it with a grain of salt.

I'm a big person for wigs, but its just me. They do take work and they do cost sometimes more money than people kinda have at the moment, depending. The good thing about a wig, is that it can be re-used for that costume over and over again. You wouldn't have to go and re-dye your hair and deal with that everytime.

Sometimes you can get away with dying your hair, depending on the character, but for Misha, I'd STRONGLY recommend you stick with a wig on that one. Especially with the extreme length and all the crazy plushies involved.

Best of luck if you attempt it!

Oh! And Manic Panic dye definitely does not last a month. You'd really have to have a hardcore bleach and professional bright pink dye to get it to look decent for that outfit. You may want to dig around cosplay.com or cosplaylab.com for some examples. I'm sure others have tried to just go with dying their hair. Sometimes seeing a final result really helps in decisions like this.

Thanks, I think I will go with a wig, Do you know anywhere I could get one that would work? Preferably cheap, because I'm making the maid outfit right now, then its onto the hoodie one. x_X

in reply to Hinata-sama~ The main probablem I have for wigs is I 've never worn one. I usually dye my hair(looks back on when her hair was green, cotton candy pink, and blood red) My only friend who has won't tell me much besides silcone spray is the way to go. I have no idea what that means. Could you perhaps give me some tips? *puppy eyes* Pretty please?

I strongly recommend Amphigory. Out of all the places I've seen thus far, in person or online, theirs are the best bang for the buck.

amphigory is a good site to go to for purchasing wigs. For tips on styling, go to katiebair.com forums or the cosplay.com forums. The people there can be really helpful ^.^

It's hard to dye your hair a really light colour. I tried to dye my hair pink for a Sakura costume last year and it didn't go well at all. Speaking from experience, darker colours are better for dying; lighter colours are better left to a wig.

I used to dye my hair. I really liked Manic Panic ^_^

But for cosplaying, I prefer using a wig. And if they're too expensive, I'll usually wait it'll the Halloween Superstore has a sale.

I was going to go with a darker pink anyway. But do you have pictures of your Sakura costume? I would like to see how it turned out. ^_^

Wigs are really, really hard to work with. Plus, once their cut, thats it, the hair doesnt come back. Using natural hair is also better because it make the cosplay look less...trashy i guess is the best word. Sometimes wigs are necessary but i would try to avoid using one at all costs.
