He really didn't want to do this.
So he felt nothing for the way he dragged his feet about it, waiting almost a whole week after Prom before he found it had to be now or never. In the interest of keeping Lizzy happy, he of course opted for now. Or nowish. He'd gotten Junko's number from his ghoulfriend, felt sick upon having to enter her into his contacts, and eventually swallowed all of his do not want before hitting call.
"Hey Junko? It's Mac. You free? Uh-huh, yes. We could hang out tomorrow too, if that'd---no? Alright fine. Meet me at the school gate in like, I dunno, half hour? An hour? ...What? You'll see. Jun--oh come on trust me! Why? Fine. Whatever, just...at the school gate, half hour." Be there or I'm telling Lizzy you stood me up was implied. He was fine taking hits to his pride if it meant knocking down a little bit of Junko's.
He did a little more feet dragging after the call ended. A lot of complaining to his scareon pups that he didn't want to go (and the little one so helpfully tilted his head nearly parallel with the floor at every word), and eventually did drag himself out, trying his best to get there in twenty-nine minutes instead of the original half hour time limit. He was early. But barely.

There were a lot of things Junko would rather be doing right now. This list was long and included things like sticking her head in a roaring bonfire or even learning a third language. Junko would rather steal candy from a scareling than hang out with Mac. Alone. But here she was changing for a day out with the boil. On the bright side maybe she could finally try and see what Lizzy saw in him, because she really was baffled. He was a jerk, even Lizzy had to admit to that. Junko's first impression of him alone was enough to completely turn her off to him. Seriously, all she needed was to see one shred of evidence that he was even slightly okay enough for her soulmate. So far she had yet to see it. He had told her to trust him, as if such a thing could even be possible. But whatever. She was doing this for Lizzy. Anything for her Lizzy. Unlike Mac, Junko was sure to be prompt. She wouldn't keep Mac waiting, she wouldn't give him even the slightest chance to claim she stood him up, she would not even be a minute late. Instead she'd be ten minutes early. When Mac wasn't there she actually took out her phone to time it. If he was even a minute late she'd leave and tell on him. "My, my. Getting quite catty, my dear." The Mistress chuckled, grinning beneath Junko's hair and curling a thick section of hair loosely around Junko's neck. She couldn't get to Junko's wrists, they were covered with two very large sleeves. It was an outfit she liked quite a bit, but it wasn't anything she considered very fancy. Mac didn't deserve that. When he did arrive she put her phone away, giving him a friendly smile. Ugh, he actually arrived. "Hey, Mac! It's nice to see you!" Liar. "So what are we doing today?"

Ah. He thought that mass of fabric was Junko. When he could confirm it though, he snorted and found himself grinning. Well, that was horribly inappropriate attire for what he had in mind! Perfect. Absolutely perfect. So far he managed to school himself enough to stop from bursting out with howling laughter, instead settling for an incredibly amused - if not downright wicked - grin.
"Yeeeah...sorry 'bout your luck." He said as cheerfully as he could; he wasn't sorry. Far from it. If anything he felt sorry for himself, since he'd have to put up with her all day and every little thing he did would be under scrutiny, to be twisted and used against him later.
Stupid Junko.
"You're looking, uh, decorated~" He decided with a chuckle, the only amount of laughter he was permitting himself currently. "As for what we're doing...you'll see." He seemed to be sneering, but that was probably only because he was still trying to not laugh at her. It was getting harder and harder to do, but he was managing. Somehow. Since his behaviour would be under scrutiny, he slid one hand into his jacket pocket and offered her his other arm. "Ready to go?"

Junko eyed Mac somewhat suspiciously. What was with that look he was giving her? She looked down at herself, feeling self-conscious for a moment. Was something amiss? Did she forget something important? No...then..why? She didn't like that look in his eyes.
Approval rating: -75/10
Good luck, Mac.
She grew more suspicious when Mac wouldn't even tell her what they were doing, politely accepting the arm he was offering her. "Sure." Junko waited for him to begin walking before she followed alongside, watching Mac in the corner of her eye.
This was..so awkward. They should make conversation, right? Try to get along? Genuinely? It was dificult. "Soooo..how are you?" Awwwwwkwaaaaaaaaard.

"I'm fiiiine, how are yooou?" Mac might have been mocking the way she said her little Soooo. Maybe. Okay, maybe a little. Fine, yes he was mocking her. He couldn't help it! That was his set self! "Nice day out for this, really. I thought it was going to rain~" He added conversationally after the inevitable silence between them. Man, trying to make friends with a ghoul who didn't like you simply because she was best friends with his ghoulfriend was a lot harder than it looked. More of a mouthful, too.
"Sooo..." He started again after yet another lapse of silence, turning his black eyes down to her, more specifically her wardrobe again. Just the thought made him snicker, and once more he had to actually work to avoid laughing outright. The closer they got to their destination though, the harder that became; soon he was letting slip amused giggles, his body shaking in the beginnings of uncontrollable laughter. "How well can you move in that?"

As Mac blatantly mocked her Junko pouted. Buttface. She resisted the urge to whine. This was so awkwaaaaard. "Rain isn't so bad. It's really calming. Sewing with nothing but the sound of rain against the window is pretty nice." She shrugged a bit, though after it caught on that he said 'for this'. Junko blinked, a few sections of hair lifting around her in curves that oddly resembled question marks around her head. "Why? Are we doing something outside..?" Suspicious.
He looked at her again and this time he snickered. Suspicious. Junko's eyes narrowed, her lips set in a pout as she eyed him with obvious distrust. What was so funny?! She was getting the distinct feeling she was not going to be happy with what he picked for them to do...especially when he asked how well she could move. Junko frowned. "Well enough. Why?"

"Oh, well, 'cause..." He paused, and then gestured to the sign that was quickly coming into view. A very large sign, above dirty and beaten cages complete with the smack of impacts and the screeching of various balls. "You kinda need to be able to twist." He laughed again, running his fingers into his hair under the brim of his hat.
Yes, he brought her to a place with batting cages on their not-date.

Junko eyed Mac suspiciously and followed his gesture to get a good look at the sign they were approaching.
...What.
Her face fell. Twist? Screaming? Cages? Oh Jack...oh Jack no please they weren't!
They were.
Her already pale face blanched as realization hit her. Batting cages. Sports. things she wasn't good at. Whyyyyyyyyyy! "Wh-what are we..here?" Did he think she was going to have a good time here?!

Mac just stared at Junko.
"Because...it's a place to vent?" Duh? Taking a side step from the ghoul, he proceeded to mime holding a bat, and swinging hard. "It's a way to beat the s**t out of something instead of someone, and I imagine you'll need a few rounds." He gestured towards himself, and then put his hands on his hips as he looked at her almost thoughtfully.
"Buuuut...you're not dressed the part. Way to go...you should've remembered who you were going out with." The Reaper shook his head with a tsk, and then reached out to grab her wrist to urge her in another direction; down a side street and away from the batting cages. "Come on, this way~"

Vent? Why would she need to vent? Oh, right...because of Mac. That was a good reason to vent. But she promised she'd try..for Lizzy. She was frowning as Mac went on to explain exactly what she had been thinking, eyeing the batting cages with a look of uncertainty. Even if she was here to vent she was so bad at this kind of thing she'd undoubtedly miss every single round.
Sigh.
Junko agreed on not being dressed for the part, but she'd manage. This was at least less fancy than most of her other outfits. She squeaked as he suddenly grabbed her wrist and tugged, leading her away from the batting cages. "Wh-what? Where are we going?" She asked with wide eyes, following after Mac with more curiosity than she expected she'd ever have around the boil. Where was he taking her now?
