He was going after a Firani! Samril was excited and a bit apprehensive. After all, these were tougher than the Kiandri. His brother Tyne was fighting them and he'd had four more years of fighting! Though, Tyne did have a bit of a disadvantage when it came to the Kiandri dragons. So it would've been harder for him to get to this point as fast as Samril... right?
The Dovaa was excited to try. He would just have to make sure he found one by itself and all. No group fighting here! And so Samril headed through the desert towards the volcano where the Firani were reported to hang out.
As he drew close, he could hear the roaring of a dragon. Grinning, he pulled his clawed gloves on and moved closer. This dragon did not sound very happy. Samril wondered what was going on as he tried to figure out exactly where this dragon was. Sound was echoing about the area, throwing him off a bit.
Finally, Samril rounded a corner to spot a dragon... fighting someone already. The Dovaa sighed, starting to turn and walk on to find his own dragon when a slightly familiar voice echoed towards him.
"Back! Away! Ugh, move you stupid dragon!"
Samril turned back towards the fight and spotted Tana, who looked rather worn out and tired. And the dragon looked rather fresh. Perhaps it had surprised her on her way out of the area? Or she was just not a strong fighter?
The Kiandri Dovaa quickly jumped into action. His gloves were already on and he darted forward to attack and draw the dragon's attention away from poor Tana. "Need a hand?" He asked as the Firani turned its attention towards him.
"Yes! Oh!" Tana saw who it was and gave a bit of a smile. "Thank you, Samril. It is Samril, right?"
Samril grinned and nodded briefly before having to dodge the dragon's attack. Dang this Firani was tough!! Samril darted to the side and attacked at it, but it seemed that his and Tana's attacks were not very effective.
Samril soon tired and could tell that Tana was nearly exhausted. "I think we should get out of here! I'll distract it while you get away."
"What about you?"
"I can run fast." He just hoped it would be fast enough to get away safely.
Tana hesitated for a moment as Samril kept the dragon's attention upon him as much as he could. "Okay, but don't take too long!" She blasted the dragon with a strong wind attack and ran as Samril leaped into the fray once more.
Samril tried to keep his attention on the dragon, but his eyes kept wandering to see if Tana had gotten away okay. He took a glancing blow to the shoulder and rolled, keeping the motion going as he rolled under the dragon and out the other side. He quickly got to his feet and started moving away, throwing a large ball lighting and two quick bolts at it before turning and running as fast as he could.
He almost ran into Tana as he rounded a corner. "Keep going!" The two ran as fast as they could away from where the dragon had been. They kept running until all that was around them was sand and they were stumbling and panting.
Tana stopped and looked back. "Samril. Samril. Stop, we're not being chased." With that, she slumped to the ground.
Samril stopped, but looked around. "Let's get out of the sun. There's some shade over there." He was just glad it wasn't very far away. He offered Tana a hand up and the two slowly trudged their way towards the shade.
Once there, both Dovaa slumped to the ground. "Here, I have some water..." Samril dug out his canteen and offered it to Tana. She gratefully took it and drank, passing it back to Samril.
"Thank you. Those Firani are tough. I did just fine until I ran into that one on my way out... Thanks for helping. Seems I keep getting saved by Baird boys..."
Samril blushed a bit. "No problem. I was on my way in, but I think the Firani are still a bit too tough for me. But I'm tired of fighting Kiandri dragons." He sighed and drank, wishing the water was colder. He was sure that any of his brothers could've summoned icy cold water for Tana, but he was stuck with the warm water from his canteen.
"So where is Teslin?" Samril was a bit surprised that his brother hadn't been there to save Tana.
Tana blushed. "We broke up. Shortly after your family dinner. I didn't like how he treated your sister and we fought over it. And I broke it off."
"Oh. I'm sorry..."
Tana smiled. "Don't be. It would've ended eventually. We are too different. Plus, he was quite older than me..."
"I thought you looked younger. How old are you? I mean... forget I asked." Samril wanted to smack himself. It wasn't nice to ask girls that question!!
Tana chuckled. "It's okay. I'm almost an Expert. Though I have a bit longer if I can't do better against these Firani." She gave a sigh. "Maybe Teslin was right and I should look into something else."
"What?! No!" Samril shot to his feet. "Don't listen to my idiot brother. You had already taken out one Firani and got caught by another. A lot of dragon hunters would have a hard time taking on two Firani!"
Tana blushed. "Well, I didn't actually beat that first Firani. I was running from it and that's how the second one got me."
"Oh. Well, still. Even Tyne was talking about how he was having a hard time against Firani. I bet you'll get it soon. Just keep trying and practicing. Hey, we could even practice together!"
Tana smiled. "Thank you, Samril. And I'd like to practice with you some time."
"Okay!"
