Aludra trotted along behind her mother, skipping around and under her while Yasmin walked more peacefully and slowly. The slowness of her stride kept her daughter from getting hit with her hooves. And from Yasmin constantly worrying about smacking the foal in the head as she ducked under her belly. She wished the kid would keep still, but there was nothing to be done about it. Aludra refused to go to sleep, so Yasmin had brought her out from the secluded spot to walk her next to some water, hoping the soothing sounds would make her drowsy.
So far, it was a complete failure. Aludra seemed to have more energy to frolic. It was a comfort to the adult, at least, that the foal wasn't trying to coax her into playing. Yasmin was tired. And didn't wish to do anything beyond sleep, herself.
"Aludra! Keep away from the water!" came the white mare's loud voice, breaking the stillness of the day.
Head bowed low and ears back in guilt, the filly turned around and moved away from the shoreline, taking a glance back at it over her shoulder. With the natural sense of curiosity most youngsters possessed, she wanted to investigate the strange world of the rivers and lakes that made up her world. After looking into it one day and seeing the fish swimming away from her reflection, she had been growing more and more curious about it. It was like another world, within her grasp, yet still so far away.
Now that she knew she had an uncle who lived in that world, she wanted to know more about it. She wanted to grow a finned tail herself and explore it.
When her mother's head was turned, the filly began to slowly edge back towards it.

Unbeknownst to Yasmin an old acquaintance remained under the calm waters, restless and quietly lost in thought. He could not understand himself what had gone on, the mare had consented yes, however a strange many looks began coming his way whenever he stay beside his children and spoke to them. He could feel glares and whispers like daggers piercing through his back when it was turned.
What had he done t enrage the herd so? Badr had no answers save one, and he wished it wasn't. The time was coming for him to leave and he had to leave the children not yet weaned off their mothers milk, two expressed some interest in following him one certainly willed to follow, yet, he could not take them with him. He knew the climate, brutal and unforgiving they would die within a fortnight without water or a guide. he glanced up at the surface of the waters, no he could not allow any child to complete that journey.
A small almost familiar face peaked over the side of the shore, causing the stallion's brow to raise curious. she was very familiar but far to young and a different color entirely, but the grey was reminiscent of the stallions stripes the mare had gone with. Perhaps this was her child, and knowing that over protective mare, she would be near by, and would have the same feelings as the others, he great dislike of them assured that. Even so perhaps this interaction would cheer him up a little, though he hardly had time to think of an interesting entrance for the fair desert maiden as his second son arrived causing badr to swim to greet the colt. Looking back at the place where his mother and siblings played he was bored and in a mood to cause some trouble, the sunlight pierced through his small dragonfly wings as he cantered through the night, he wanted to talk to father again, he had so many interesting stories to tell of the places he had been filling the little colts head with wonder about the world.
"Papa!," he young foal called as he came to the edge of the lake, and looked down into it. "Papa, will you tell me another story?" why couldn't he have been born a nova like his brothers? then he could have swam down to greet him, he seemed to interested in what was in the water to notice Aludra or her mother. "Papa!" he said as Badr emerged from the water.Badr surfaced and grinned mostly at Yasmin "The Fair desert maiden, you are as fine as ever, and such a sweet looking child, from that alcor not doubt." he gave her a little bow.

The little grey foal reached the water's edge without a single backwards glance from her mother, managing to turn her head towards it to continue her inspection of the strange world beneath her hooves. It was fortunate for her Yasmin was so tired from keeping up with the children to remember that Aludra had such a fascination with the water and should be better watched. It was unfortunate for her Uncle Deneb wasn't lurking anywhere nearby to catch the foal if she so happened to fall in. But it was fortunate there was another Nova nearby. Even if she would be quick to deny it good fortune.
Aludra was in the middle of dipping her hoof into the lake when there was a sound behind her. The curiosity quickly disappeared to be replaced with her timidness against strangers. Running towards her mother, she ducked behind Yasmin and peered out from under her slender stomach. The foal she had seen before, but she couldn't place his name or anything about him without help from her parents.
Knowing her daughter's personality well enough, Yasmin made no attempt to protect her. Chances were, she had spotted a beaver or duck and it spooked her. When the smooth and familiar voice reached her ears, however, she took a different stand.
Head wiping around, the white mare put herself protectively between her daughter and the Nova who had left such a bad impression on her the first and only time she had seen him.
"Mm. I guess you're the one behind all the talk going around," Yasmin said coldly as her daughter continued to peer curiously from under her stomach. Of course the lake in the oasis was being fed by an underground river. Of course. No amount of wishing it wasn't wouldn't make it suddenly disappear.

Nahusha looked at the little filly, they were related somewhere in the line, mother had told him of many of the family members but he couldn't quite place her and the filly... He glanced toward his papa, he seemed to know the white mare, he watched his father curiously wondering how they met in the desert before this.
"There is no need for that, surely you wouldn't think I haven't morals my Fair desert maiden," the stallion chuckled "Though she will be as fine as her mother when grown, I am sure." he grinned he couldn't resist the comment, knowing full well the reaction of the mare, Badr flicked a little bit of water onto the colt beside him with his tail.
"Still as cold as a moonlit Arabian night," he said, though it was true all the rumors had come about him, and strangely they did hurt despite his attempts to ignore them. "I am, and do you believe everything you hear fair maiden?"
His attention turned the curious foal "Perhaps I will tell you that story latter, Nahusha," catching the foals intrigue, children always everything they wanted lay across their face, Badr envied that about them at this very moment. "I have not told you yet of the Shāhanshāh & Banebshenan banebshen," using the full titles in his herds language.
The foal laughed a bit, after being splashed with water, his father had told him much about the desert, and he loved stories about it, "What do those words mean?" the colt asked curious he couldn't even pronounce them, and they sounded grand when his father said it, he looked toward the little filly curious wondering why she was so shy "hey! want to hear a story?" he asked her "Papa is very good at telling stories." the child smiled innocently. He fluttered his small dragonfly wings.

Aludra watched the adults talk quietly, still hiding behind Yasmin. Instead of peering out from under her stomach, she had moved closer to her mother's head to watch with her dark purple eyes from around Yasmin's neck. She was curious that her mother seemed to be familiar with the strange Nova. Neither parent had ever told her about a brown Nova. Nor had she ever seen him before.
Her mother always seemed to be uncomfortable around Nova. Even her Uncle Deneb, the foal noticed, wasn't an exception. To Deneb, however, she was civil. To this one, she was cold. More cold than she had ever seen the older mare.
Her confusion was soon forgotten about as she brightened at the Nova stallion. "That's what my father says!" Aludra happily piped up with for the first time, her voice full of pride as her feet continued to root themselves to the ground around her mother.
Yasmin, on the other hand, ignored the foal as she continued to stare coldly at the Nova.
"You have not given me reason to think otherwise." Yasmin glared, her dark brown eyes narrowing as her daughter cowered more behind her at being addressed by the strange colt.

The young filly would indeed grow to become a beauty. Badr had seen it before young daughters just as or more beautiful than their mothers, "A wise stallion is your father, I have met both your parents not to long ago." he mentioned in case she hadn't caught it, the desert maiden was still quite sore from it it seemed as he had insulted her by complimenting her beauty. There was probably nothing he would be able to say to get her to calm down, then again he was sure more rumors were coming now that this mare
"But Indeed, I am but a simple stallion Fair Desert Maiden..." Cut off by his son the stallion couldn't help but answer the Cold "Why King of Kings and Queen of Queens my Son The two rulers of the desert herd."
A king and Queen? Were they so royal they had to say their title twice they must be really important! "Papa Did you meet them?" the Colts eyes winded eagerly. He;d never met royalty, though they said he had royal blood from both lines whatever that meant little Nahusha didn't feel too royal. Then again he didn't care he was just content to play as a colt should.
"I have, my son." that was a story he would have to tell his son latter, that meeting eventually brought about Taahir the son he had with the ever lovely Adira but again for another time he grinned at his son "The ever fierce over protective Shahryar and his lovely mysterious mate Scheherazade." he chuckled a bit "I am too quite in their good graces." that was a bit of a stretch but the way the cold reacted made it worth the story telling.
Nahusha grinned at the filly as his father spoke, his dad had met royalty that must make him very special. Nahusha bet he'd met all sorts of Royalty in his travels. He wondered for a moment what relation he had to the filly the family thing was so large. The filly was she was his cousin or something he tried to think she didn't look like the rest of the family who seemed labeled with the distinct sun Pattern or the stars and the moons.
((OMG I replied >.> and no one is going to yell at me))

Yasmin remained where she stood, barely moving a muscle except to twitch her white tail. No, it wasn't wise to listen to rumors too closely. Just enough to be cautious in case the outcome wasn't the desired one. But in the face of the Nova she found it hard to be anything but suspicious of him. His manner of speaking was not exactly what she would call a gentleman. There was too much flowery nonsense. Like he was trying to charm every mare he met into getting close to him. She could give him credit for apparently caring for his son enough to bond with the boy. That didn't tell her how far this relationship went or would go.
Behind her, Aludra tried to stuff her face in her mother's waving tail to hide her face. If she couldn't see them, they couldn't see her. At least that was the desperate attempt at an escape plan the foal could come up with. She, too, had heard a few of the rumors. As much as she could gather before her mother whisked her away, saying a lady never listened to such chatter voluntarily. Mother had such high hopes for her, it made Aludra uncomfortable. What if she never became what her mother wanted?
After a time of listening, Yasmin sighed. "I must get back to my son, Nova." She turned to go, daughter close on her heels, but with curious eyes that never left the strange creature in the water. "I'd advise you not to stay too long." The words were almost a threat. "There are some with the power to make you leave who won't want your presence."
"But, Mama..." Aludra started. Her mouth quickly shut at the warning glance from the mare, sucking on her lower lip to keep the words back.
