She never understood, why didn't they understand? She was happy, content, just wanting to be alone with herself and her special fragment. It completed her, made her whole. Screw needing friends, family, a love, enemies, rivals, anything. This one piece of the mirror filled all those mental requirements, she did not need anything or anyone else. Frinny body curled around her shard, hiding it from view from anyone else in the area. Only she should see it. It was part of her, something special. Only SHE had the right to see, touch, even know it existed. Only she felt something brush against her side as she lashed out at whatever it was. NO. HERS. "Your not alone." Came a noise suddenly, a voice in the wind that was not there before. It was standing right next to you, and it oddly sounded familiar... loving. But that was not possible right? Ceres only needed the fragment, so this other voice was impossible. Only it was right next to her, a perfect image staring right down at the other frinny. a smile was on her lips, a knowing look. "I know you, i know your kind. " With a flick of its perfect tail she stepped forward, hooves crunching on the earth below them. "You see this is all too real, all too perfect." She approached Ceres closer... closer. "You wan't to stay here, forever. You want to protect the precious, pro-" That was when the other slashed out, the doppleganger falling backwards, her image flickering just enough for her twin to notice. "Oh darling.. you really did not want to do that." She was trying to be friendly, trying to tell the other she understood, that she was a part of her. It looked like all pretense was gone though, so she stopped talking and only approached. And touched a hoof to the others side. Curled in her ball she glared over her shoulder after the swipe, ignoring ANYTHING that the other had said. She was being irrational, hatful... but no one, even a mirror image of herself, was allowed to come closer. The flickering of the other did cause some confusion, but only briefly. Even the searing touch of the other, which was enough to make her slump a little more, did not stop her. "Go. Away." She growled and slashed out once more. And then it was over.
THat last slash was enough, the doppleganger looked down at Ceres with an odd smile. It was a knowing smile. She closed her eyes, sighed deeply, and then was no more.
Her eyes flung open, she stared down at her feet. Suddenly she was not where the flowers had told her to be, suddenly she was aware of everything. Pictures flew past her eyes. A lake. A battle, two forces against each other locked in a battle of skill, wits, and dominance.
Before she could even ask mentally what was going on, it was all gone. Looking around, now feeling a fool for her actions, she saw a tunnel of light at the end of a pathway. Was it really over? Was it time to leave this place? She could recall back to a few instances that say never walk in to the light, but she was a creature of light.
It called to her and offered its warm embrace.
It called her home.
