This is the largest department of the Ministry of Magic. The Department of Magical Law Enforcement includes, essentially, the justice system of Britain's wizarding community. It includes the Auror Headquarters and Misuse of Muggle Artifacts among many smaller branches. Yet its importance is undisputed.
