This is an OPEN RP Where: Diamonds What's happening: A group of infants gets lost! Not in the maze, but in the forest. .
Skyler's little heart was thundering. Take the shortcut, he'd thought. I'll be home faster, he'd thought. But now he was utterly and hopelessly lost in the dark forest. It was bruising that he'd not become lost in the maze but in the forest.
A howl sounded nearby and he trembled, shaking all over and drawing his fluffy cloak tighter around himself, hand clutching his derringer. He was not dressed for track and field, wearing a frilly dress and some nice shoes, a bag of bread in his arms. It was a special treat, bread from diamonds, and he whimpered as he thought about breaking it up to mark his trail.
His ears flicked as he tried to hear past his own heart. Tried to listen for running water. There was always something by the water...if he could find a town, or even a house, maybe they had...no, they probably didn't have a phone. But maybe they could show him the way home.
He squealed as a branch broke behind him and fired eight times into the air, trying to scare whatever was creaking off. But now he was vulnerable, terrified and out of bullets.

"Holy hell!"
Atticus stood, wide eyed and amazingly unscathed. He hadn't been sneaking up on the eevee on purpose. Rather, he just happened to see a familiar face in the most unlikely of places and had started to gravitate towards him. It was only by good fortune that one of the bullets didn't strike his tiny, little body. He'd have died for sure, and then what would have happened? The boy scowled, his emerald eyes narrowed in frustration.
"You almost shot my head off, Skylerrrrr!" He complained, jutting out a lip unhappily. Now he was lost and almost killed. What else would happen on this unfortunate trip? He'd only wanted to visit Diamonds and Ivan had agreed! It sounded like a nice, neutral place. He didn't even make it there before getting turned around. That'd probably be the last time the golurk let him do something like that.

Skyler was so happy to see a friendly face he almost wet himself. He hurried over to Atticus, putting his gun away. "Atticus! Oh, I can't believe its you!" He said through sobs and whimpers. "I-I'm sorry! I thought you were a wolf...or..or a dragon!" He didn't know dragons weren't real. "Or some great wild boar come to gobble me up!"
He felt more secure with the other, grabbing his hand as if by instinct. He'd be alright now! "You can show me the way out of here, right?!" His eyes shone with hope.

At least the boy didn't try to hug him. He wasn't sure how he would have reacted to that. The eevee was so scared and so excited to see him that he felt almost touched, albeit a bit confused. No one was ever excited to see him, seems like. Well, they never had reason to be. He knew he was prickly and he liked being alone for the most part. He didn't seem to know how to conduct himself when he wasn't in control of the situation.
"There are no such things as dragons, they're make believe..." The fear of wolves or boars were legitimate, but he didn't see any reason to make the slightly younger child any more afraid than he already was. Hell, Atticus was getting a bit anxious, too, even if it didn't show on his slightly frowning features.
Just as instinctive as it was for Skyler to reach for his hand, it was instinctive for him to pull away after he realized that someone was, in fact, holding his hand. Someone other than Rett, anyway. He only realized that this might seem offensive to the other boy after the fact and, instead of completely turning him away, rested his hand atop the smaller boy's head and mussed his hair playfully.
"I dunno the way out, but we'll find it before we're missed too much. And we'll find it in one piece, too."

Gauvain was only kind of lost. Kind of in that he didn't really want to be out in the forest, because he did not particularly enjoy forests, but not in that he had come out here to swordfight. Okay, and he didn't really know the way out, per se, but he had been slicing notches into dead tree branches discarded on the way, so...
"Why can't Diamonds have the same lights that Clubs does?" He complained, thinking of the orbs that lit the way at night for travelers in Clubs. No one ever needed to be in the dark, there. Here was another story. If it became too dark to see, he'd be trapped there far longer than he should be.
Which was about when he heard a commotion, and came upon Atticus and a girly eevee whom he had never met before. "Hey, guys! Out for a walk?" Gauvain asked, sheathing his epee and grinning at the two. Gauvain pretty much always had a smile, for any situation. And he certainly wasn't afraid! Knights were never afraid!

Skyler frowned a touch as the hand was pulled out of his own and he hurriedly used his own hands to smooth his mussed hair back into place. He was used to that rubbing affection, as Pablo did it a lot, curling the long strand back where it needed to be.
"Oh...I didn't know dragons weren't real." He gave a small, assured smile that fell the moment Atticus said he was lost too. He felt tears well in his eyes. How on earth were they supposed to find their way back now?
He jumped a mile when the Swanna appeared from the bushes, hurrying behind Atticus and trembling, peering out from behind him. A sword!? How were they supposed to fight with a- oh, he was putting it away.
Three infants lost in the forest who found eachother. What were the odds of that? He cleared his throat and slowly stepped out, wringing his hands. "Um...well, no, not really. I came through here to get to Spades faster and I met Atticus. Well, he met me, but now we're both lost." He sniffled, holding onto part of Atticus's clothing with a scared little hand, looking over the other's outfit and giving a tiny smile.
"I-I really like your sense of fashion. Its a risky outfit but it looks great on you."

"I'm not lost... I just don't exactly know the way home, that's all." Ah, Atticus, never liking to be out of control of a situation, and why not? He had perfect reason to be so overbearing on his surroundings. He'd been out of control for the most part in his short life. He didn't want to own up to being lost.
"Oh, Gauvain, it's you." He recognized the swanna for sure. The swanna was nice, if a bit overbearing. He knew the other to be no threat, or at least no real threat, other than the fact that he liked to get in on someone's personal space and seemed to thrive on attention. He'd done his best to help Atticus act normal in the cafe, so he was at least helpful. He didn't feel like he needed to shield Skyler at all, but he let the little eevee hide behind him, anyway.
If he did get into trouble, he still had his switchblade for protection. It hadn't done much against the bullies, though, when they had taken him by surprise.
"Do you know the area, Gauvain?"

The sheer jumpiness of the girly eevee was not lost on him, but he merely smiled; it was an ego boost, if nothing else. It was unusual for anyone to recoil at the sight of him, unless it was from repulsion due to his unhealthy habit to occupy everyone else's physical space. He wasn't exactly good at helping it; Thuri had raised him to be as affectionate as he pleased with everyone around him, because he hoped that Tommy's seeming coldness wouldn't damage their boy's ability to make normal emotional connections with others.
It was yet to be seen if it had worked, but at least Gauvain was basically shameless when it came to being annoying. "You're lost?" he asked, blinking a few times. "Lucky for you, then! I've been cutting notches into the trees on my way here," he said, smiling again.
He really wasn't sure what to say to the eevee telling him his outfit was risky, so he sort of smiled as nicely as he could and thanked the boy. Sure, that could be a compliment! If he wanted it to be.
"So... yeah, I don't really know the area at all! In fact, I kind of hate it here. I don't know why Briar likes trees at all," he added, "But I'm pretty sure we can just follow the trees from that one onwards," he said, pointing at the tree. That, and Thuri had quietly been stalking his little boy through the woods to make sure he didn't get lost; he didn't want to interfere with the boy's fun, but he also kind of loved his son and didn't fancy losing him forever.

Bo's eyes were open wide with fear, big globs of tears drip down his face. Not only was he lost from his papa, but he was in a territory unknown for him.
Bo hiccuped and tried not to wail out of fear.
"P-p-p-papa?" he whispered. "Anyone here?"
Bo started to walk forward but couldn't see a thing.
"P-p-p-please! Is someone out there?" Bo whispered even louder, and as he looked around the dark, he slip and fell down a cliff.
Bo landed face down and looked up. His face was covered in scrapes and bruises, his pants leg tore up and it was bleeding.
He then saw his ribbon on the ground next to a tree and gasped. He did his best to hurry up and walk over, even though he fell a couple of times.
He then finally collapsed on the ground and picked up the ribbon and made sure that it wasn't ruined in anyway.
He was relieved that it wasn't ruined and then he choked in a sob. He was terrified for himself, in pain, and what might of happen if he lost his treasure.
He tired the ribbon around his neck to make sure it is where he could feel it and crawled over to the base of the tree where it was hollow at the bottom, a prefect place to keep shelter.
"Anyone? Please! Help me!"
Bo started to cry and whined, as his tail flicked with electricity pulse.

The echo of "lost" grated on Atticus's nerves, but Gauvain tended to grate on the insect boy's nerves anyway, so it wasn't anything new. He frowned slightly, but it dissipated at the swanna's news. He had been cutting the trees, then? Well, that made sense. Why didn't he think of that? He mentally berated himself for a moment.
"That's all fine and dandy, but this eevee needs to get back to Spades. I don't know the way and it might be a bad idea if we bring him to Hearts, yeah?" He didn't really like all the trees that much, either. They were okay. Really, the only reason he was somewhat fond of them at all would be due to the solitude they usually meant. He could get lost in them, be alone in them, and he liked the solitude. His thoughts were broken and an antenna twitched at the sound of some ruckus - caterwauling, more like it.
"Sounds like someone else is out here, too." He motioned for Gauvain and Firefly to follow him with a slight nod of his head. He figured the eevee would follow anyway, given how tightly the boy was clinging to him. What he found was a pathetic sight. Another boy, one covered in scrapes and general grime from the wilderness - or at least what felt like the wilderness to the venipede. He was still young and these woods were massive to his young mind.
"What are you doing out here alone?" He tried to hide the scorn he felt for the other. He really just wanted to get home. He was tired of all of this social interaction and a warm bed and hot meal sounded fantastic.

Skyler didn't ignore the pair he was with, he just sort of tuned them out, trying to find a happier place. But they were moving off and he gave a small whimper, the trees so close above them he doubted they'd be able to see the notched branches soon.
It was Skyler's turn to recognize someone. He had a memory of Hearts. He had wandered from his papa to look at the pretty dresses and the kindly mareep had offered him his friendship and a slice of sweet bread. But Pablo hadn't liked that too much at all. He'd warned of poison.
Very carefully, he let go of Atti's arm and stepped in his not-made-for-hiking shoes over to Bo. He knelt down. "Hi again." He spoke in a much less timid voice than he had ever used before. He let out a small spout of fire to light the area, seeing the gashes and bruises all over the mareep.

Whether Gauvain was unaware that he was in their space, or he simply didn't care, was not apparent: the young Swanna was smiling just as always, flexing his wings occasionally, adjusting his metal helm now and again. His tights weren't exactly the warmest; he was eager to get back home. Home to heaters and duvets and movies about knights and cuddles from Thuri and Tommy: that was when he loved his family most, with Tommy at his right reading one of his heavy tomes and Thuri on his left letting Gauvain help himself to as many snacks as the little Swanna wanted.
Not that his fathers let it happen without limit: every time Gauvain took too much, Thuri would gently remind him that what did little piggies get? Little piggies would get fat and then knight armour wouldn't fit. Yeah, Tommy had been trying to explain to Gauvain that he'd never be a night, but his other father seemed pretty lenient.
"That is ... very inelegant," Gauvain lamented, bringing the fingertips of one hand up to look at the poor mareep with a mix of pity, concern and distaste. Mostly pity. "Is he okay?" Vye asked the other two.
Thuri snuck up between the trees; the Liepard father thought that now that they'd found an injured child, it would be a good time for him to reveal himself. "Hey, you kids," he chimed in, "I think it's kind of late, and I think this little boy could use some help, so how about I help you take him to safety?" Thuri offered, smiling. It was easy to see where Gauvain got his smiles from.
Thuri stooped down and lowered his arms to the Mareep to offer to carry him.
