It was already almost mid-morning. Teilil had already finished what small bit of hunting he had to do for the day as well as cleaned up and restrung his bow. Lady Trickery had asked a favor of him- to teach Akakios what he could about archery before they left for Aejiss. Now seemed a good a time as any, assuming the young man was unoccupied. Shad'era was still out with the trees, having gotten a late start and Priscilla was busy with Alfonze. He had been told that he would probably find the young god in the library so that was where he was headed.

The wild elf had his bow and quiver slung over his shoulder. Akakios could use his for now to learn and he could make one for Lament if it seemed to suit him. He glanced around upon reaching the library, fully expecting to find the young god curled up in a chair asleep with a book in his hands.

Curled up in a chair with a rather impressive pile of books to his side, a book in his hands, but very much awake, patina and gold eyes moving back and forth along the pages, and on close inspection, he seemed so involved in said book that he did not remember to breathe at all.

Upon closer inspection, the book would prove to be Alice in Wonderland.

He had noticed Teilil coming in at all, as involved in his reading as he was.

Oh... So he was awake then. That would make things easier at least. Hopefully his greeting would not startle the young man, as focused as he was. "Morning." Lament being up and about so early made him wonder if gods really needed to sleep at all, or if it was just matter of preference. Priscilla slept and so did Tristan, when the poor man could anyway, but they were still mortals. He had no idea about Tajnevaki or Lady Trickery as they seemed to keep about the same hours as everyone else.

...wait...was he not breathing? Now that was really quite odd.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. Not quite startled, no, but Lament did tense up a bit, looking up from his book to the elf, and then sideways, through he could not find a window.

"Oh, it is morning already ?" He had lost track of time, as he often did. The book was gently closed and put aside for the time being, through he put a mental note to put all of these back in their proper places before leaving.

At least now he was breathing.

"Were you looking for someone ? I have not seen anyone else up and about." Well, there could have been an elephant stampede, and Akakios would have been hard-pressed to notice.

"It is, almost mid morning actually." Teilil seemed amused. Had whatever he was reading really been that engrossing? "I was looking for you. Lady Trickery mentioned your interest in archery and that such a still might be useful quite soon." He would go with them to Aejiss if it was needful, but if it ended up being the case he would have to think of something very good to get Shad'era to forgive him for leaving again.

"I thought if you weren't busy, you might like to have your first lesson?" If Akakios would rather keep reading that was alright, he could always come back later.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Oh, right. Of course, it had not occurred for him first thing that the elf had come looking for him - it had been more logical to assume he might have come for someone else, given that he did not live here.

"Right, can you just give me a few minutes ?" He eyed the rather impressive pile of books. He was obviously a quick reader. "I need to put all these back where they belong, before I forget." It was the polite thing to do, and after being at the library for so long, it came as an automatism.

"And what is your name ?" He asked, as he gathered the books. "I am Akakios."

"Of course." The wild elf would have helped him put the books back, if he knew where any went. He had never been much for books, having lived most of his life outdoors; the most time he had spent reading in practically his whole life was when he read to Priscilla at night before bed or whenever else she asked him to read.

"My name is Teilil, most just call me Tei."

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.It did not take him long - clearly Lament had memorized where each book went, and each book was slid back on it's place on the shelf within the few minutes the god had asked for.

And through the pile had very nearly reached to his eye-level, he thankfully did not collide into anything.

"Right..." Well, he was curious, but he somehow was not certain if he was looking forward to this or not. The whole prospect of learning this, and leaving with Tien and Taj, was an exciting as it was frightening.

"Should we go outside ?"

"That would be best, there is hardly space inside for this." That and it was safer for everyone, involved in this or not. Accidentally shooting someone or something would not go over very well. "I know a spot that will work, secluded and quiet. So there should not be any distraction." He remembered how hard it had been for him to concentrate on aiming when he was first learning to shoot a bow.

"Come on." He headed out of the library, going around the spiral to the door, which he held open for Akakios. "After you."

Mortals could definitively be strange.

He followed Tei outside, then to the spot the elf had decided on. Whatever worked for Tei worked for him, really.

Where Teilil lead him was a fair sized clearing in an older part of the forest. What remained of a dead tree stood among other healthier trees. The dead tree would work as a decent target to start with. He pulled out his hunting knife and cut away a bit of the bark to give Akakios a more visible spot to aim at.

"I guess the place to begin would be- do you know anything about archery at all?" His answer would give Teilil someone to start the lesson, even if Akakios knew nothing at all it did not matter. The wild elf would simply start from the very beginning then. He slid the bow and quiver off and walked over to offer them to his pupil. "I would put the quiver on, if I were you, so you can get used to the weight of one against your back and drawing arrows from it."

He accepted the quiver carefully, sliding the strap over his head and letting it fall on his back. He shifted it to hang lower, more like the diagrams he had ended up retracing. "Like this, right ?"

Well that was certainly a start, presumably he knew a little of the theory then. "Yes, that is right." He made a mental note to make the strap a bit longer for when he made a quiver for Lament to use. That way it would settle better against his back. "It might seem a bit odd at first, but you get used to the weight over time. Now, are you left or right dominant...or at least which do you prefer?" After all if gods had no need for sleeping or breathing, perhaps they did not have a particular need for left or right handedness either.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show."This is not so bad." He was used to cart bags full of books, after all. The weight did not fall exactly at the same place, but it was similar enough not to seem too strange.

"....Um."

Yeap. He had never quite thought about that. "Well... I write with my left hand..." Usually. Sometimes he did write with his right, but only if there was something or someone keeping him from moving his left arm.

"Through I figure both would work." He would try it, just to know.

Teilil laughed when Akakios had to think about it. He should have known. "Well, lets try it that way first then."

"Hold the bow in your right hand and turn that side toward the target. Make sure you stand with your feet apart, like this." He demonstrated as he spoke. "It will keep you balanced."
