((This is a little backlogged, shortly after the death of Nur'yu.))

Nyimak was still in shock.

Her baby brother, gone from this world, and moved on to the next. His body had been beaten, broken, ripped in to by strangers who knew not a thing of him! They didn't now his laughter, his smile, or the love he had in his heart. It was senseless really, and of all the lions within the Firekin to have lost their life to those strangers, why had it been him!?

Nyimak had been shocked at the news, and though she mourned the loss of her brother, she could still hardly believe he was gone. She regretted deeply not having been closer to him, not having spent time with him while she had it; instead she had focused solely on her training, and had practically dismissed her family during her youth. She adored her family, certainly, but like many young fools it was so easy to take them for granted.

They had years together, didn't they?

They suffered through the drought together, then came the Hongshan and the Nergui. . . .and though there was now a threat of war, that didn't mean her family would have been touched. Not. . . not like this. Ignorance and a foolish belief in their immortality, in their defenses, in their art of war had detached the lioness from the truth. But now, such foolishness was behind her. The day her brother fell was a day she truly aged. . . .

But grieving wasn't easy for the proud lioness. Not only because she wasn't well versed in such a thing, but most importantly, because she felt she had to be strong these days. Strong for her siblings, who were also handling his loss in their own ways; but also strong for her beloved parents. How must they be feeling? To lose their son . . .

So it was, the lioness pushed her grief to the backburner, and was prepared to handle his death solely with vengeance. Grief could wait -- there was a war out there, and one of those damned beasts had slain her brother. She would not let that be forgotten, she would make sure he did not die in vain. But she kept these thoughts simmered deep in her heart, next to that pain and that hurt his death had caused. She would not cry -- not in front of her family or others -- but she would fight.

Still. . . . keeping close to where her family resided was imperative for the moment. And Nyimak quietly tracked her mother's scent, seeking her out. If ever they needed to be together, this was it. Despite her proud nature, the lioness worried deeply about her family. Sometimes it felt impossible to get through the day. . . but all they could do was lean on each other in those moments, and support one another as best they could.

Azar had been keeping to her den for the last few days. She of course was in and out and actually tehre were a few times where her father insisted on her staying in the den. She did listen to her father often and not only that but also because he was the regent of the pride and when he didn't do the whole 'your dad said so' he would pull the whole 'i'm your regent'. She knew that she could do what ever she wanted to in all honesty. But at the same time she knew that she needed to. She was upset. She knew she needed to take some time and relax, yet at the same time she needed to relax and not spend her time running around and doing her job. She wanted to do her job though and because of that she insisted that soon she get back to her normal job.

She was 'confined' for now. She was spending her time in the den all stretched out and relaxing for now. She was frustrated by the death of her son. She couldn't believe that one of her children were dead before she was. She didn't think that it should be allowed. She really thought that one's parents should die before they did. And although there was much going on in between the drought and not only that but also the war now. Deaths were going to happen she couldn't be too surprised. The only thing was that Azar couldn't believe it was one of her children. She really couldn't believe that it was Nur'yu.

Nur'yu was her 'happy child' you could say. She was always excited spending time with her son. He was a very happy lion his smiles were contagious, his laughter. She couldn't see how anyone could be mad at him, he really didn't understand at all. the only thing that he seemed to care about was being happy. Right now on the other hand she didn't have that happy around her, there was none of it. Of course she would have her mate to make her happy and her other children did too but she also missed him horribly. She would always have a special spot for Nur, all of her children had a spot like that for all of her children and now one of them were gone.

She let out a heavy sigh before placing her head on her paws and she closed her eyes. She wasn't sleeping but she was closing her eyes. Taking a rest, she felt like all she was doing was resting but at the same time she needed it.

Nyimak hesitated at the entrance of her mother and father's den. Her paws stopped, not because she didn't wish to see her mother, but because she . . . . she didn't know what to say. She had to be strong, she didn't want to spread the grief or upset her mother any more than they already had been. Without Nur'yu . . . well. . . there was a deep emptiness, a deep regret in her spirit that threatened to hang over her world.

It shouldn't have been him.

She had been his sister, she should have protected him. She should have done something more, so he hadn't been taken from the world.

And yet. . . . here they were. Out of all the lions in the Firekin, why had it had to be him?

Having a small breath, steadying herself, Nyimak pressed on. She was here to support her mother, to give her strength to get through the grief if Azar might need such a thing; how Nyimak had looked up to her mother, had wanted to follow in her paw prints, had wanted to become something with her life. Scratching quietly at the entrance, to at least make her presence known, the red furred lioness quietly moved inside.

Her mother's scent was heavy on the air, and she knew that she was within. It took a few moments for her eyes to adjust, and she made sure to slow in her approach, just in case Azar wished to be alone. " . . . Mother." She spoke, her words quiet, respectful, but . . . perhaps just a touch hollow. Like the rest of the family, they were all dealing with grief in their own ways.

But Nyimak didn't want to break down here, not now. She could do so away from the eyes of others. For all the strength her parents and grandparents gave the pride, for once Nyimak wanted them to know that she could be strong, would be strong, when and if they could not. She could bring comfort, somehow, and yearned to do so. . . . at the very least, she could be there with her, to give her some company. And if Azar wished her away, than she would let her be.

But for now. . . . for now i was important for family to be close. And so, Nyimak was here.

Azar laid quietly on her side as her mind drifted back and forth into dream world and back into reality. When you had so much time to think after a while the idea of it made you sleepy. However there was a sound that made her attention snap back to where she was laying and made her snap back to paying attention to what was going on around her. She had heard a sound, a sound of another and it as familiar really. she started to rouse herself out of her half sleepy state, her tail flicked and she at first wasn't that sure of what to say until she heard it was one of her daughter's. Of her very large litter she had five sons and five daughters. Her daughters were very special to her, all of them were different, all of them had something different about them, including the lioness that was pacing into her den.

"Nyimak." She answered as she pushed herself off of her side and then turned toward the lioness a smile was on her face. It was a soft smile one that was more than happy to see the lioness in her den. Azar had always loved her children, she had always protected them and she had always cared about them. But now after the death of her very sweet so the sun that she had loved very deeply. She loved all of her children equally but there was now a piece that was missing. Her attention turned toward her daughter and a small smile grew even larger as she pushed herself on her feet and wandered over to the lioness lifting her paws and wrapping one around the other lioness in a 'hug' of sorts. she flopped down on her haunches and then looked at her daughter that looked so much like herself and her mate at the same time.

Azar always found a way to push her emotions out of the way to be there for her children. Nyimak was always an interesting lioness so she wasn't that sure of how her daughter was handling the loss but she was very interested in finding out and either way she had planned on being there for her child. "How are you doing?" she asked her curiously.
