Buzz…….buzzzzzz…..bbbuuuzzzzz

“Oh just leave me alone little buggers,” the ebony leopard cried as he swatted his ear with his white paw as he dug his nails of his other paw into the bark of the tree. The sun hung directly overhead bearing down on a large portion of the land and much to his dismay most of the darker shade had disappeared with it.

Jaiyin gave up on the idea his idea of taking a nap as he opened his eyes peering across the rather barren land. Well he couldn’t say it was barren for the most part it was covered in grass tall, sand colored grass that could almost hide any creature however with the lack of movement appeared as if it was the ground itself. There were other trees lacking leaves much like the one he was perched in scattered across his view reaching up towards the pale blue sky.

Hence the idea of a perfect nap if it wasn’t for the infernal curse of buzzing noise in his ears.

She wasn't on duty at the moment, and to be honest she was considering asking for leave to go visit her babies. Not that they were babies anymore at all. This was evidenced by Tuwi herself reaching her full growth. She was a wonderful, beautiful leopon, and Awani was very proud of her, but it made her long to go back and see how her other children were doing, if they'd found their niche in the diseased pride. Soon, she promised herself.

But for now, she was practicing. She wasn't often idle, preferring to hone her skills to further improve her stealth, strength, and agility. Yesterday she'd darted about in a rocky cleft, mock-battling invisible foes. Today she was challenging herself. The day was hot and the sun fierce overhead, soaking heat into her dark coat as if it was a warmth-magnet. The grasses were pale in contrast to her coat, and overall this mean that she wouldn't have an easy time stalking much of anything. But it was an excellent exercise to try.

She had been stealthily following a fox that blended into the grass like it was part of it. She had meant to test her ability to keep the fox from knowing she was there, but in the end it was also a test of her ability to keep track of the fox! She finally lost it when it whisked around a low rock and simply disappeared. She wasn't done with her stalking, however, so she had prowled onward, spotting the leopard in the tree up ahead. Ah, another challenge! Could she stay hidden from a 'foe' in an elevated location?

In the end, though, it turned out he'd been dozing, and wouldn't have seen her if she'd stood up and waved her tail. It pleased her that she hadn't alerted him with sounds of her movement though. So it was when he cried out at the flies, she was at the base of the trunk of his tree, looking up at her fellow leopard. "There is a plant that can help with that," she said quietly with some wry amusement. "Though I don't think anything will help with this heat."
