It was hot. That was the first thing Kayin noticed as he slipped out of the den and away from the clamor of his siblings. With one last look over his shoulder to make sure he wasn't being followed, the sandy-pelted cub allowed a himself a satisfied smirk and scampered away, kicking up plumes of dust as he ran across the cracked ground.

It wasn't that he didn't enjoy the company of his brothers and sisters. He liked them just fine, and roughhousing didn't really work unless it was with somebody his own size, which all his siblings happened to be. He loved his mother too, but... it just wasn't the same. There was nothing cool about hanging out with his family.

Which was why he was headed out to look for Ora. She was cool, an adolescent now, which meant she was practically an adult and she knew how to hunt. That was plenty cool enough for Kayin, and it seemed that the more she tried to push him away, the more he felt determined to follow her around and do whatever she did too.

Lately, though, the lioness had taken to being unpredictable, so he wasn't too sure where to find her. Oh well. He would just have to look and hope he ran into her before anybody else came along.

User ImageA grape hovered over Felo’s whiskers. It danced just out of his reach. Oh, how it was taunting him. Nipping in the air, Felo attempted to devour it, but it continued to play with him. Sooner or later he’ll get that grape. A smirk curled over his teeth. Yes, he’ll snatch up that little beauty and enjoy the deliciousness inside. The grape lowered closer, Felo reached up, but the grape came crashing down and knocked Felo in the nose.

Oww! Felo woke with a start to find his sister’s paw covering his whole face. Ugg, he kicked her away. She merely grunted and flopped over. Felo glared at her and rolled over onto his paws. See! This was the problem with siblings! He was having a perfectly good dream about a grape (whatever that was, he heard some adults talking about them earlier) and his sister had to go and ruin it. He stabbed her with his eyes for extra measure.

Felo needed a break. He stretched and padded out of his family’s den. Maybe something more interesting will await him outside. It had to because all his family was sleeping. He rolled his eyes and took a more lazily pace through the area. Though, his round ears perked up. It sounded like something was thundering closer. He couldn’t see anything, but he wasn’t about to stick around and found out. It wasn’t that he was scared, just cautious. Plus, being in an exposed, open area probably wasn’t the best idea.

Felo took off. He didn’t know where he was going, but hopefully he was getting away from the noise. Of course, just his luck, it only sounded like it was getting louder. He intended to change directions, but he was distracted. Another couple steps had him smacking right into a wall of flesh, sending him tumbling through the dust. ”Uhh…” Felo slowly raised his head. His ears were ringing. A couple good shakes of his head got his eyes to focus again. He looked over to see what he ran into. A huge, light brown cub greeted his eyes. Still too stunned to get up, Felo spat, ”What is your problem!?”

Young as he was, Kayin's future size and bulk were already beginning to make themselves apparent, and his stride, though bold, was anything but swift. It took him a little longer than most to get anywhere and he presented quite a slow-moving - and sizable - target to hit.

That had never occurred to Kayin before. The way he ran was the only way he knew how, and he hadn't ever thought about what sort of a target that made him. As it was, that seemed poised to change as a little pale cub came careening out of nowhere and smacked into Kayin without a second thought. As with all things, it took a second for the event to register with the burly cub, but he skidded to a stop all the same and stood for a moment, frowning as he blinked down at the other youngster.

He was a little confused about two things: one, how the other cub had managed to run smack into him and two, how that same cub had ended up face down in the dirt. The blonde-headed cub had practically bounced off Kayin's side, but Kayin's sturdy little legs and bulk had managed to anchor him to the ground, so that all that happened in the end was his abrupt stop. And even the suddenness of that was debatable. There wasn't much that Kayin did quickly, and no doubt his size and build had something to do with it.

"It looks like you're the one with the problem," he offered after a moment's pause in his customarily measured, slower speech. He might have tried to lend the other cub a hand getting up off the ground if he wasn't still puzzling through what had just happened to them both. After all, the only thing Kayin had been doing was... going somewhere. And he wasn't the one who had ended up with a face full of dirt.

Raising both paws to examine his face, Felo worried that he was missing a tooth or two. Geezzz...it was like running into a boulder. Not something Felo would ever want to do again! How in the world could he miss this cub? He glared back over towards his direction. Felo noted his sandy pelt. Uggg~ the guy was so big and brownish, that he blended into the landscape. He stopped his glaring to draw his eyes back to his muzzle. Felo went a bit cross eyed as he surveyed his nose. He wiggled it around to be sure it was still attached. Good, it was sore, but at least it didn't fall off. He'd have a heart attack if something on him was broken.

Felo snapped his eyes back to the giant cub. Even though Felo was furious, he wasn't stupid enough to get in a fight. This guy could easily squash Felo with just a flick of his tail. Very...barbaric. Felo shuttered in an attempt to get this gross feeling off of him. The cub didn't even look remorseful. He almost killed Felo just by standing there and all he looked was...confused. Felo irritation wasn't going away. He bit his tongue to hold back a rather nasty comment. Again, Felo didn't want a fight. At least, not a physical one. He wasn't one to fight with claws. He was above that, at least, he tried. "I'm not the one with the problem." He sat up and glared at the other cub. "Obviously, something was wrong. Why else were you running through the area?"
