Oh Jack oh Jack what was he doing? Merope clung to the clipboard in his hands, his talons scratching grooves into it as he fought against the urge to press himself up against the wall of the hallway. As much as he would like to stay there, he did have a reason.
"Er," he began. Then he tried again. "Hey! Hey you! Bored? Wanna help a classmate out?" No, wait. He could do better then that. "Wanna lend a spare hand and earn something shiny?" That was better.

Leo had been wandering towards the library when a boil with a rather serious case of fishtail appeared in her way. Well, less 'appeared' and more 'stood there the whole time but she didn't notice because she was lost in thought'. Either way she stopped just before plowing into him. "Oh! Almost didn't see you there, sorry." And then what he'd been saying and the way he seemed to be very attached to his clipboard filtered in. "Do you need a hand with something?" He really didn't look very happy to be there, if Leo was to be any judge. And, well, one could never have too many shiny things. Although if asked, she'd probably prefer to be paid in plaid.

The initial comment brought a frown to the corner of his mouth. Didn't see him? She didn't see him?! He looked down at himself, then caught what he was doing as she continued to speak. Right, worry about personal appearances later, he decided. "Yes! Yes, I do. It's right in here." He reached out and grabbed her hand, pulling her behind him... and into a broom closet. "Uh, wait. Wrong room!" Merope lead the way out and dragged her across the hallway, entering an unused classroom. "Here we are! Okay, so..." Merope released her hand, moving further into the room to gesture the organized chaos that dominated the rooms in various piles. "I'm Merope. This is where I've been piecing together my club." He waved the clipboard around, "I already collected signatures, but I just need someone to help test a couple things. I need help with a game, some drinks, and another game that's like a race track. Can you help me with one of them? You can decide which."

She'd been briefly worried when he dragged her into a broom closet, but before she could open her mouth and speak up, he was already dragging her across the hallway into a classroom that she didn't remember from any of her classes. Right then. "Club?" She was watching the piles of things with a faint sense of apprehension. "I, er, guess I can help with that." Games sounded fairly harmless... and accepting drinks from strangers might just end badly. What kind of club served drinks, anyhow? "One of the games will be fine." Her brow furrowed. "I don't know much about race tracks though, so maybe the first one?" Couldn't really help if she didn't know the basis of the game, she figured, so best play it safe.

Oblivious to the levels of awkward he caused, Merope nodded enthusiastically to Leo. "The first game it is! Though, ah," He paused, looking around the room and scratching the back of his head. "It might take me a bit of time to set up. I... honestly wasn't expecting to get anyone to, well -" the undead boil began to admit before he broke off, busying himself with bustling around the various piles. He emerged a few moments later with a small kiddie pool, dragging it until it was in the center of the room after shoving enough desks aside to place it just so. A hose was dropped into it before the undead boil disappeared. Water sputtered, then began to flow before Merope reappeared with his arms full of small toy boats. These were dropped into the water as the pool was being filled, the undead boil disappearing yet again. Finally the water shut off, and the hose was removed. Merope reappeared with five wooden balls, offering them to Leo. "Here we are! The object is to, well, sink the ships. Green ones are worth one point, blue five, and red are worth ten. You wanna get as many points as you can. After you go, I'll take a turn and we'll see who scores higher. Ready?" Ephebe BOAT SINKING 8D- Roll 2d4 - The first dice represents the ROW. - Second dice represents the COLUMN. - Example: Roll 4, 1 results in sinking a red boat~ - You can't hit a boat twice. She'd watched with a slight sense of befuddlement as he set about preparing the scene for his game. It... seemed pretty harmless. The boats were kinda cute with their skull flag and the rules seemed simple enough. So okay, she could do this. It even looked a bit fun. "Right." She aimed her ball as carefully as she could, one eye closed. There! "Aw shoot, just a green one." Oh well, a point was a point! She moved aside to let him have a go at it, smiling encouragingly. "Won't be hard to do better than me this time." Points: 1

She grimaced. "That could be a problem, yeah. Maybe just make them look like it? Papermache could do it, just to give it that rough texture and then you could paint it black." She looked thoughtfully to the four balls in her hand. It could work, probably. She grinned at him, readying her next shot. "Fine, fine. Obviously you're worse than me. Still some time left to even it out, though!" She squinted to aim and threw the ball. Plop, and Leo suddenly had a whole lot of points. "Uh. Did that just happen?" She looked at the little wrecked red ship. "Wow." A smile was blooming on her face despite the disbelieving tone of her voice.

"Oh. I didn't even think of that." Aww, and she'd been kinda happy to have thought of a solution. "Although it was pretty obvious." She laughed slightly, feeling a bit silly now. "Yup, eleven. Not too bad, I think." And what a grin that brought to her face. Leo wasn't usually competitive, but it was alright when it was just in a friendly game, right? She thought so, anyway. Transferring her third ball to her right hand, she aimed quickly and let it fly - right into the spot where Merope had just sunk a ship. "Aw, no ship-sinking this time I guess." That was alright, if not slightly disappointing - after all, he was right; it really was awesome when the little boat got wrecked by the ball. Although that probably made her sound more destructive than she really was. Hm.

She nodded seriously. "The crunch is very important, yeah." She looked considering at the little boats. Was she afraid of splinters? "I'd like to try that, for sure." There were a lot of splinters on the floor, so she supposed he'd broken a lot of those ships before, but then again, if he was the one making them, then wasn't it okay? "Awesome! Good job!" She laughed happily, caught up in his enthusiasm. "Let's see if I can wreck one as well--" She tossed the ball at the basin of ships, seriously hoping she didn't hit the spot of one of the sunken ships. She didn't. The first blue ship went down, and she crowed happily as it went down. "Alright! Sixteen points!"

He sounded really enthusiastic about Professor Savage. She'd have given him a dubious look just then if she hadn't already established that he wasn't really all that weird and / or creepy. Instead she gave him a little half smile, nodding encouragingly. "That sounds awesome! Who makes the boats, then?" If it wasn't Merope, maybe it was the professor's hobby or something? Who knew. She let another ball fly and relished the sound of the breaking ship. "Aw, just a green ship. But at least I hit one!" She grinned happily at him. "Guess this is your win, then. Congrats!" She bowed jokingly.

"I do, actually!" Merope answered proudfully. "They're a lot of fun, and, ah." His enthusiasm seemed to deflate, crumbling into a mound of embarrassment. "It's... it's really obvious that I don't get out much, isn't it? I just... pass the time making ships. I don't really have a reason to go out." His talons clicked against the floor nervously as he looked around, surveying the "club" room he had claimed. ...He needed to get out more. "Eh? I did?" Merope glanced at the ships. "Ah! I'm sorry, I'm not a very good host. But, uh, let's see." He threw the ball over his shoulder as he turned towards Leo, sparing the sinking blue ship only a glance. "How did you like it? Was it fun? I... ah, thank you for helping me, by the way." Merope shrugged, offering his hand. "I really appreciate it."
