Setting details - Before we begin I require that you read this section. If you don't then this may lead to confusion.
As we've said in other threads this RP is set now in the future of our previous canon. This means many of the old characters will have died. But fear not. You can still play the same character. Through the soul cycle many of the Core Souls of your characters will have returned once again after having lived entirely different lives. They might have new names, hobbies, interests. Anything. The fact remains however that you can still play your old character if you so desire. Of course though you can also play a new character.
In this RP you do not require a profile. Simply leave a squad and a name for your character. Later on we will work out a profile when the format is finished shortly you can use the character you've played here in that profile.
If you created a profile after we rebooted this guild then worry not. As your character never existed in the original timeframe continue to play them as you would normally. Okay now that's out of the way I'll write the opening post.
Only one rule on non NPC characters in this RP. They must start at the base level which will become clear later.

It's Summer in the Sereitei.
The sun beats down heavily on any who stay out of the shade and so the Captain of the First Division has called for a swordfighting competition and training exercise amongst the Shinigami outside in the sweltering heat without shade for miles. He does this as in his own words...
"If you can't handle the sun then you can't handle a Cero.
...You've heard rumours about why the training is beginning. It has been too long since the majority of humanity died out. All that's left of them is hollows and the spiritually aware ones such as Quincy and Fullbringers. Even some of the other breeds of spiritually aware humans have died out with their food becoming practically unattainable. However it appears something strange is happening on Earth. Attempts at diplomacy have been met with either rejection or simply demands of surrender from this enemy. It's said they also have a base equal in size to the Sereitei but it is capable of flight. Whatever the case it's not really your problem right now. You're stationed in the Sereitei and until you receive orders otherwise this is where you'll likely stay and be prepared for any possible attack.
So without further ado it's time to begin the training.

In the smouldering heat, Rei was drenched in her own sweat. Drenched.
She had long abandoned the shade to listen to the words of the Captain of the First Division and she had yet to do a single thing besides stand amidst a crowd of Shinigami, attired in their black uniform, and soak the Summer's glorious but merciless rays of sunlight. She was just as good as dead in this heat. Almost.
Even in her... "scantily clad" clothing (as others words say but honestly it was just a black bikini top, matching shorts and knee-length boots) she was boiling. It was wonders that the Captain was not sweating. Or at least she couldn't see any.
Unsure of how to approach the training, Rei watched closely.

"Oh, how I hate formalized training." That was the only gripe that Takeshi had about the whole announcement. He didn't really care about the heat or the lack of a good hiding spot. In fact, he was able to justify the abnormal heat by saying, "Well, it's not like I'm going to die of heat exhaustion." With that said, it still looked like he had jumped into a river. A really deep river filled to the brim with wa--the point was that he had been sweating profusely. "Okay, I've been out here for all of five minutes. Why the hell am I already sweating so much? I mean, I haven't even started...fighting yet." He said the word with a bit of disdain. Not because he was a terrible fighter or anything, but because he was taught that fighting was always a last resort. He was a recon guy, so pulling out his weapon meant that something had gone horribly wrong.
"Okay, so when is this suckfest starting?" He said, partially to himself. He wasn't talking to one specific person, but he wanted the question to be heard by someone. Anyone. It didn't matter, as long as some kind of response came back. He wanted to get this "stupid training exercise" started already, so he could go do other things.

'Looks like I won't be handling a Cero anytime soon,' She thought
Aradove wiped the sweat off her brow with a weary hand, contemplating leaving the little oasis under her lone tree for the sweltering hell that was beyond. She raised a hand outside of the shade and quickly drew it back in, deciding against the burning she felt in just the one second outside of her haven. She then crouched down once again, mopping off the new layer of sweat that had accumulated on her face.
It was way to hot to be doing anything in her opinion. This was the last place she wanted to be right now. Among other equally sweaty Shinigami engaging in some sweaty activity together for what reason she didn't care to know. She didn't know why she was even here. Groaning, she peeled off the baggy outer shirt she had been wearing, suddenly feeling uncomfortable when she was left exposed with just a simple black tank on. Black. Not white. She would have to be incredibly dumb to wear such a dangerously colored garment on a day like this.
'Oh well, beats boiling in my own clothes,' she thought, after the initial awkwardness had passed.
Aradove collapsed down to a final sitting position, giving up on the idea of physical activity in the sun. In now way was anyone going to make her move. Well. Except maybe the captain, but hopefully he wouldn't notice her relaxing in the only shade available for what seemed to be miles while everyone else worked hard at whatever they were supposed to be doing.
'Yeah right.'
She stood up, her body complaining against the effort of it and exited her heaven beneath the tree. Fully embracing the evil rays of doom and suffering, she answered the guy standing in front of her. "I think it already has. This is how they're testing us. Obviously they want to rid themselves of the extra weight lying around by death via baking in the sun."

"Well, I just completely failed my alertness evaluation. If I had one, anyways." Takeshi was referring to the fact that he had not seen the lady come out from underneath the tree. What's worse is that he hadn't even seen the tree. He thought there was absolutely no shade for miles in every direction, but he was quite wrong. "Note to self: become more alert." And with that simple thought, he stopped caring and moved on to something else.
"Eh, it's not that bad." He said in response to the heat comment. "I mean, it could be worse. We could be in..." His mind was drawing a complete blank. " Okay, it's pretty bad out here. I just want this to be over with so I can do other things." He slumped down and sighed as he hit the ground. "Great, now I feel really hot. This blows." The heat was getting so unbearable for him, that he was going to lay down and die. However, he realized that he most likely wouldn't die from just laying down. It would also be kind of rude to the person talking to him. "Damn social pleasantries. Ah well, I might as well stand up. I'll be more situationally aware that way, anyways." So after sitting down for only a few seconds, he decided to get back up.
He didn't want to just stand there awkwardly, so he attempted to make some small talk. "So...what division are you in?" He asked, fully unaware of the fact that she may not actually be in one yet.

“Oh man, I’m going to die of heat stroke.” Ganbaatar, more commonly known and referred to as “Rat”, complained as he reluctantly trudged to join the others in their misery. It was miserable too, he had been perfectly fine with staying indoors, yet it seemed the Captain of the First Division had a sadistic streak. The burning sun was made worse by the fact that Rat had all but came out in full battle-gear. Reluctant to part with any of it for any period of time, in the irrational fear that someone would steal it, Rat had donned a pair of fingerless gloves, leather vambraces, work boots, and a slightly lopsided yellow hardhat on top of his usual Shinigami outfit. A base of anxiety filled him, only allayed by the fact that most people would be coming here, as he had left behind his steel vambraces and shin guards, not to mention a hoard of other things he kept hidden.
Despite the heat, he was reluctant to remove any articles of clothing. While the Shinigami uniform was standard and commonplace, Rat had scrounged up most of the other stuff. He noted a few other people dressed more sensibly than him. Even worse, now the effect of gathering a good amount of Shinigamis into one place was taking effect and the body heat, sweat, and rank odor of many, not that he wasn’t contributing, was making him nauseous. Wiping at his brow with one of his forearms, he stared at his wet vambraces. That really was an impressive amount of sweat. Putting it down, he rested it against his war hammer, just to make sure his zanpakuto was still there.
After a bit more of waiting and listening in on various conversations, Rat decided that no one was paying him too much attention, despite his garb, and appeared more worried about their own levels of warmth. Looking about one more time, he quietly, or at least as quietly as possible, moved towards the back. Once there, he still quietly moved to sit down and sighed. While the heat was still bad, he was no longer standing. And if he kept his head down and moved in certain ways, he could just barely catch the shadows of any standing Shinigami, resulting in this kind of awkward, cross-legged bob-and-weave motion not unlike that of a snake charmer. ”I work smarter, not harder.” Suckfest indeed.

"Even Hueco Mundo isn't this hot..." Kasen said calmly as he sat on the warm graveled ground with his head down as the warm salty sweat dripped down his brow. He looked up for a moment as his eyes darted around the area as he couldn't bear to train in such horrible heat, however this was training. Training was never a bearable thing as he looked at the people as he wiped his sweat off as he stopped looking at the people. Deciding that he couldn't bear it anymore, he stood up slowly as he removed the black kosode that was part of their uniform of shihakusho was merely a symbol of being a shinigami.
He noticed the other's different style of clothing as he preferred to add clothing or garments when he preferred to. He waited patiently as he wore the kosode now as an impromptu hood as this heat was starting to get to his head, however he wasn't going to make a scene as keeping calm was important in situations. He looked upward to see that the sun had not moved at all as he sighed and returned to sitting on the ground.

"Tell me about it. I'd rather be scrubbing a bath house than do this, at least I'd be inside," Aradove stretched her arms above her head and proceeded to fan herself poorly with her hand. "I don't even know what we're supposed to be doing."
It was true, Aradove had only shown up because everyone else had to come and she figured it a mandatory sort of event. She hadn't really been paying attention all that much to the captain after she got there.
"I'm kind of undecided at the moment. I want to be in a place where I don't really have to, you know, move. Unfortunately, its required everywhere, meaning I'm screwed no matter I choose."
It was actually getting really frustrating trying to find something she would fit into. She had been considering doing something along the lines of stealth and similar activities, but it required so much planning and quick-thinking, not to mention the chance of falling asleep on the job while she was hiding in one spot. Once she started her trademark snoring, there was nothing in the world to prevent her from staying hidden. She had also been considering doing something in the area of diplomatic relations, considering how there wasn't really anyone around to be diplomatic with, resulting in far less work for her. But then again, if anyone were to pop up, she wasn't exactly the sweetest person to have around. Ultimately, she found herself considering research and developm... nope. Too much thinking. Scratch that.
She really wanted to be able to do something, but she was too unmotivated. Nothing seemed to pop out at her. "I figure I'll just wander around until I find something I like." she said, trying to casually brush off the issue like it was no big deal. 'More like I'll sleep until I grow roots into my bed and someone forces me to join something I'll hate,' she thought miserably.
Aradove shoved the tip of her practice sword into the ground and tried to use it as a sort of makeshift lean-to... unsuccessfully. The sweat from her hands caused it to slip and fall noiselessly to the ground as Aradove fell quite loudly and angrily. Startling a few of the other shinigami around her, she quickly got up and delivered a few curses to her silent "companion" as it lay contentedly on the ground, free of any dirt or blemishes. She snatched it up and muttered an apology to the shinigami that had the unfortunate circumstance of nearly being collapsed on.

-Hikari Rei, Squad 11-
People were beginning to grow restless, Rei noticed, as some moved in and out of the shade whilst others stood waiting. There were whispers amongst the crowd as people began to exchange their greetings or mumble their complaints about the heat.
"Even Hueco Mundo isn't this hot..." she heard and softly said, though directed to no one in particular, "It's no where near 'hot' because the last time Shinigami checked, there's no sun there whatsoever."
She thought back to how she had said those words. Great, she sounded cranky. And Rei had to admit - she was beginning to get frustrated at the lack of activity that the Captain wanted them to do for this specific "training". But still, she hoped that she did not give others a bad impression of her.
She lightly touched the notable scar across her abdomen. Perhaps wearing such revealing clothing wasn't a good thing after all if it meant that people would shy away from her...
Ah, screw that. Her skin cells in the murdering heat argued otherwise. To relieve herself from the heat, she grabbed the small water bottle from the back pocket of her shorts and gently took a sip. The contents of the bottle was beginning to diminish quickly.
((@Khaost Kasen; I don't think we're meant to have achieved our zanpakuto yet since we're all starting from base level.))

(Ah, just remembered that last line of being base level, thank you for reminding me. I have a habit of misreading or skipping the single line of important details.)
"I prefer the endless moon than stay with this bearable heat that's slipping people into uncomfortable possibilities." Kasen said replying underneath his shihakusho as he was simply continuing a string of conversation, if that was possible. He didn't want to expend too much energy before they could even train, though he knew that staying in one spot too long would simply bake him.
Perhaps from the heat, he began chuckling as if he had lost his mind as he merely began to look at the sky once more, seeing the waves of heat and the sun's rays beating down upon them. "I'm starting to wonder if waiting here in this weather in suspense is better than simply being in a squad on duty with your life at risk." He muttered as he hoped nobody heard him and shrug it off as ranting of a person losing hydration.
He stood up as finally as he began to pace a few steps before returning to his spot. Staring down as his eyes glared from under his makeshift hood, he merely sighed once more.

Seeing the small group of people mingling near the shade, Rei readied her courage in hopes of joining their conversation. She wasn't used to such bold actions and a small blush, the faint pink notable at the corners of her cheeks, broke her poker face.
"At least we're still alive... somehow," she said to the man with the shihakusho as she walked up to him. Her nervousness was evident in her mismatched eyes, her left one being blue and her right being purple, as she shyly offered the man her water bottle. Though there wasn't much, she was sure some water would relieve his stress from the heat.
"Um, if you don't mind it being used, would you like some water?"

Takeshi stared at the girl and nodded occasionally as she spoke, to look as attentive as possible. Although he was actually paying attention, he wanted to make sure that the other person knew that he was. He wasn't much of a conversationalist, so oftentimes he was stuck in awkward silences and asked things like, "are you listening to me?" Since he hated that question with a burning passion, he made sure to look attentive whenever he was spoken to.
"Undecided, huh? Well, if you don't like moving a lot, you could always try out reconnaissance. I heard that they barely move at all. I imagine it would be dangerous if they did." Even though he was in the recon section, he made it a point to use they when referring to the group. It's not that he didn't have pride that he was a part of the group or anything. He didn't need to hide the fact that he was recon, either. It's just that he loathed being asked about it. All of the shinigami that were newer than he was would ask the stupidest questions, such as, "Recon? That's so cool! So how many arrancar have you assassinated?" or "That's badass, bro. Ever no scope someone?" And then there was the occasional, "Recon is alright, but the 11th Division is where it's at. They're first in, last out." Every time, he would have to go through the exhaustive process of describing what recon actually meant and what they did. Eventually, he just decided, "screw this. As far as anyone is concerned, I'm the new 2nd Division toilet cleaner."

Kasen looked upwards as his dim royal purple eyes peered out as they looked at the individual before him as his hand rose for a moment as he looked at the water bottle. He brought his hand forward and gently pushed back as he rejected the offer. "Thank you for the generous offer, but it seems you could use it more. I can go on much longer without water." He said as he didn't mind being in the heat, he can complain like others and make jokes, but as long as he maintained a leveled-head he would be fine. He was simply using his body's water like it was meant to be, to function, and he didn't care for becoming dehydrated.
"What is your name?" He asked as he looked into her eyes calmly keeping a small smile on his face as he looked at her face. Her eyes were different as he thought into his mind for the word. "Heterochromia.." He thought as he looked at her noticing the scar as he didn't immediately draw notice it as he calmly waited for reply.

Rei was slightly taken aback when the man's eyes peered from beneath his hood, and was meet with dim royal purple irises. An image of her beloved brother flashed in her mind. She quickly dispelled the thought. 'The dead don't come back,' she mentally reminded herself.
Her concern for the man did not leave her, more so since his soft rejection was for her own good. Rei wanted to insist her offer further but she also did not want to be pushy and rude to the man. She decided that she would offer the bottle of water again, but later. For now, she would answer his question.
"Hikari Rei, squad 11. And you are...?"
