In the main channel of a freshwater stream that widens at the mouth into a mid-sized lake, a curious Seathi poked her head out of the water and glanced around. She bobbed gently in the water, her large brown eyes peering out at the world about her as water dripped from her mane in tiny rivulets.
Above-water was quiet; she tilted her head curiously. No Flyers chirping in the trees, no Crawlers slithering across the ground... not even the rustling of a Climber. She ducked her head beneath the surface and swum towards the shore, poking her head out once more and frowning in puzzlement at the silence.
Though she was quite shy, she enjoyed observing the world Above.

She gazed in the tree-line, her tail making tiny circles in the water to keep her head suspended above water. Where is everyone?

Where was everyone? They were gone, hiding really. Why were they hiding though? Well that's an easy enough answer. That answer is because Neva was in the area, and Neva being a batwalker tended to scare everyone away. Though that was because she usually threatened to injure them, and possibly eat them. Which she usually managed to get to the injure part before they run off.

Right now though she was making her way to the water, She wanted a drink of water and wasn't expecting to be running into anything just for a drink. The batwalker never remembered the stories of those living under the water, and so the thought never occurred to her to be prepared for an encounter with the water sort. Upon reaching the water's edge, she lowered her head and began drinking, paying no attention to her surroundings.

The Seathi ducked her head partially underwater, large brown eyes staring out at the strange creature. Her nostrils flared nervously as she blew bubbles that rose to the water's surface.

Something felt wrong about the land-dweller, and Pavati Sik'is' instincts screamed at her to swim away. She seemed to shimmer like a moon-caught jelly, but those eyes... those teeth... those... flyers' limbs. Wrong.
But the tug of curiosity won out, barely, and she ended up swimming in a tiny circle as indecision tugged her to and fro.

A small ripple made its way to the Batwalker's nose...

It is quiet here, but then it is always quiet when I am around. Why must it always be so quiet? The pale batwalker was lost in thought, having one of her rare moments of sanity. These moments were very few and far between, as the innocent foal she once used to be was almost faded and gone. As the days go on, the more bloodthirsty she became. Her fading innocence had tried to hold on, tried to make the demon go away before it became permanent, but the demon was stronger. Very soon, it would no longer exist. Especially since there was no hope of ever changing her back from being the demon she currently was.

I know I'm a monster but,... Her ears flicked forward as the ripple reached her. There had been no one here when she arrived, and she saw no one get into the water. Neva's head whirled around as she looked for the one that caused the ripple. "Who is there?!" She snarled as she continued looking around. Seeing no one still, she shook her head slightly before returning back to the water and her drink. Just my imagination. That is all.

Heart beating frantically in her chest, the Seathi dove straight down to the muddy bottom. She swam in a tiny circle, her mind racing as it fought to keep up with her fluttering pulse.
She was a gentle soul, and easily frightened by loud noises. What a strange creature! Snarling who's there at movement in the water, then wheeling about towards the land?
Something more seemed... off.... about the way the other had reacted.

Pavati Sik'is frowned, and swam towards the surface. No one was there aside from this four-legged-Flyer... she could see that from her watery observation point. Though this creature felt wrong, her curiosity continued to tug her towards Above-water and she poked her head up a scant few inches from the odd being's mouth.

She blew a few bubbles, as if her words were lost in the water and not a sudden fit of nerves. Large brown eyes stared at the fuzzy muzzle, then shifted to the large ears.
Perhaps this creature was frightened or confused? Emboldened by the thought, Pavati Sik'is spoke in a sibilant whisper. "Clear-water friend." She spoke her name's meaning with care, then poked her nose below the surface and shook it briefly, sending another small ripple towards the four-legged-Flyer as an explanation.
She watched and waited, now uncertain of her welcome and wary of a negative response.

There was something in the water, Neva knew it as she saw more ripples emerging from the water. She eyed the water's surface, but seeing nothing went back to her drink. Just then a few moments later, this creature came up just within inches of her mouth. The batwalker snarled and snapped at the intruder in surprise, not liking when things pop out from nowhere.

What in the world was that creature? It confused Neva slightly as she remembered nothing about others being able to survive under the water aside from fish and turtles and things.

Her heart skipped a beat, her eyes wide as the four-legged Flyer continued to snap and snarl. Swimming away, out of reach (she hoped,) the shy but curious Seathi continued to observe the Other.

Curiosity prevented her from fleeing, frozen in place as her tail swirled beneath her in gentle circles to keep herself from moving in the slow current. Perhaps... perhaps she had merely startled the Other?

Slowly, she poked her head out of the water once more, tiny rivulets cascading down her nose. She swallowed, trying to keep her voice from shaking as her head drew down to her chest and she peered upwards with timid uncertainty. "Clear-water friend." she repeated, more clearly this time.

She waited, wondering whether the Flyer would react violently... and hoping that her offering of identification would be met with subtle relaxation.

The Other felt dangerous, but she was so... wrong, yet... strangely beautiful.

Neva heard the other's words, and yet wanted nothing more than to go over there and squish it into the ground. Yet, a tiny part of her was curious. She'd never come across anything like this before, and so she must figure out what it was and how creatures like this could be used for her plans, if they could be used at all. Or if they would just be better off being squished whenever she saw them.

"What, are you?" She snarled at the creature. She wanted answers and she wanted them now.
