The wedding was not that far off. Things were ready and going to be done. Cass one of them but not like that. She’d get her hair and makeup done, (though he didn’t think she’d need it), and she’d be in her dress, (she wasn’t going to let him see. Part of him wondered if he’d go blind when she walked down the isle. She already stole his breath enough). Cass was going to be done up and he- He was going to be in a tux and standing like an idiot at the altar. They had everything as ready as things could be but somehow it made the stress worse. They had gone off a lot of ‘I am doing this and here is that and okay lets get it done’. So few days on leave and a lot to do. It was a rush but a good rush.
But they needed to get the last details out. What to serve, the colors they wanted, and just discuss who to invite- or not invite. (Marcus was pretty sure they didn’t want Caelius showing up after all). Relaxing on her bed, a small book in hand, he wanted to give her the first page. It was just a reminder to how things had started out. A year. It seemed like a lifetime ago, and now here he was, ready to get married for what short lives they had left. Surreal. She’d be back soon and they could talk about the wedding. And what they wanted to do after.

Marcus had probably stopped needing an alarm clock sometime after the fourth day in a row straight of Cass waking up at about five in the morning (normal) and making a very high pitched squealing noise (not normal) for about three minutes straight. Then she'd go about the rest of her day like nothing in the world was out of the norm - which was also a lie. Everything was strange and unusual, after all. It was Deus ex Machina.
Cass had, in a very strange move, gone off to harass someone for cardstock so she could make invites. Sure, she probably could have had them out months ago (since everybody knew they were going), but she wanted it to seem official and all that. She was only going to get married once, dammit, she was going to make it awesome.
Or as awesome as her high-running mind could, actually.
She balanced the two reams of cardstock - Gold and Blue - in one arm as she opened the door, pausing to lean against the doorframe for a few seconds to just stare at him with a happy sigh. If she'd been of the tail-owning variety, it probably would have been wagging a mile a minute right then.

Five am overall was not that bad. Better than 3 am with missions to go do butt ******** for no reason in his opinion. It also was nice to wake up and try to quite her down with soft kissing and soothing strokes on her back, (they only somewhat worked).
Popping his back, he might have looked the part of a cat, lazily rolling his head to look at her, face somewhat expectant. "You should lay down. From what it looks like you've been busy." The cards made him smile. She'd gotten to them already. One thing off the list of to do. "And can give you a massage while we talk."

Cass might have been encouraged to keep up her behavior by his attempts to hit snooze on the 'alarm' of sorts. It only half-worked until she insisted she had to go on her morning run.
"Busy? Hardly gotten anything done, though, it seems." she answered with a small sigh as she set the stock down on her desk, closing the door behind her with her foot before she went to sprawl out on her bed next to him, her back popping with a rather satisfying noise before she groaned and laid her head down on top of her arms. "I'm totally not going to say no to a massage, though. God knows it's been forever since it seems I was last able to work all the kinks out of my back."

Sitting up, he too a second to admire her. It was a soft look, not coveting, lusty, but only a tenderness and comfort in his eyes for her. "Busy isn't always defined by product. After all we can get as busy as we want and we go to the effort of not making a product." He teased at her, as real as that situation was.
Hands going to her shoulders, he worked at Cass's body, trying to loosen her muscles. "I was hoping we could talk about the wedding and what we have planned. Decorations, food, and uh... alcohol and other things." Why had he relented on the alcohol? Oh right.
To be nice.

She would have purred if the cat analogy was still rolling, wiggling just the tiniest bit as his hands worked at her shoulder muscles with a small groan of satisfaction - damn that felt nice.
"I had decorations in the work back when you said that Blue and Gold was alright." Cass assured, "I mean.. they're not overly fancy, since the venue is already nice, but..." she nodded before she turned her head to glance back at him. "And...yeah... it's... it's turning out to be more work than we thought at first, isn't it?" she asked with a small frown.
"It seems like there is still a thousand things to do.."

He bent down to kiss the back of her neck. "If you keep wiggling I'm not going to be able to get all the kinks out." Moving down from her shoulders, his thumbs rubbed along her spine. "No, simple is good, though small embellishments are nice."
He tugged at her shirt. Also take this off, I keep bunching it up on accident. He could unhook her bra, but the cloth kept getting more action than her actual skin. "But yeah. We still have to talk about the reception and what we want to serve. Not to mention we have to talk about our living arrangements after the wedding."
He smiled. "And what we want to do about that."

She couldn't help but make a frustrated noise as he listed off things they needed to talk about, shifting to pull her shirt off (right, Marcus, your excuse was so transparent. Just wanted a shirtless girl.) before she settled in again.
"We should just serve Alcohol. That'll solve all of our problems...." she buried her face into her arms. "Except it actually wouldn't...." There was another noise of frustration to punctuate this thought.
"I just.. what do you serve at a wedding besides cake? I know potatoes are for a funeral, but like... wedding?"
and living arrangement. Oh yeah, there was that too. Hrrrmmghnfsldfkasdf. Frustraattionnnn. "God, I just.. I dunno. My room was always a short-term plan, but I don't think the hunter-rooms are big enough for us to really 'share' one. The houses down in the town aren't bad, but I don't really know much about getting one of those."

He did want a shirtless girl, but you liked his hands on you Cass. He liked putting his hands on you.
"With the trigger happy suns and the few dicks that like to try and swing it around I'm still a bit reluctant. If anything Clerise might be able to help. She was more sane then half the guys at the bachelor party." And what a magical night it was.
"We have maybe a few hor d'oeuvres, a light soup and sandwiches, small confections. nothing really grand but finger food." He moved to her lower back, fingers rhythmically going into her sides. "And the houses need... renovation. Plumbing, water, electric. Not to mention we have to clear out the small infestations of insanity."
No fun, no fun at all. "I'm working on it though."

Okay, now she was feeling ticklish and really trying to not wiggle, instead breaking into a fit of small giggles.
"Sounds like we'd have- er..will? Have our work cu... you're clearing out a house already?" Cass actually had to turn to look at him with a puzzled look on her face. "What's it look like? Is it cute? I mean..s**t, that's kind of a dumb question, but we used to live in this adorable little white house when I was really little and the image has sort of stuck with me of what 'home' was, y'know?"
She wasn't sure if she'd mentioned that to him before. She might have at some point, but she was sharing it again anyways.
"And..renovations..hnnghh. I'll try to help out how I can, but I don't know anything about plumbing and stuff. I don't even know if I could fix a leaky sink without a 'plumbing for dummies' book or something." she admitted. She'd never needed to, after all.
"So maybe we should pick a meat, a fruit/vegetable, and a dessert then? Outside of wedding cake, I mean."

He pushed her back onto the bed. "Stay down you goof." He kissed the back of her neck again. "And yes. Will. And yes, I am working on it. It's four rooms, two bath, and a very nice kitchen and a cute little living room. I'll paint it white too if you want." He'd paint it pink with purple polka-dots if she wanted.
"But you can come down, help if you must. It's been a bit of a pet project for me since late may. And yes. I vote meatballs, pears, and macaroons." He had them right off the bat. "But, I think the bride gets to pick in the end. Or at least that's my opinion."

"Ooph!" Cass laughed a bit as she was pushed back down, shivering as he kissed the back of her neck - just what he needed to find, another sensitive spot on her neck. "Four rooms? Good god, why would anybody need that many- well, nevermind. That actually seems like a pretty standard sized house if they're just rooms and not specifically bedrooms." Though why would they need that much space?
She'd have been content with a one bedroom just for the two of them. She had no plans to sleep by herself ever again - she hadn't slept alone in a long time, after all.
"Well, I won't make any calls on if it is white or not until I get a chance to take a look at it as well." she decided. "It could be perfectly cute without being white, and that's just fine by me. I trust your tastes."
And on the note of tastes....
"Mmm, I'm going to say for fruit it should be something a bit more.." she mulled it a bit, "something more like a kebob or something like that. Or chocolate is involved. Chocolate fountain to dip fruit slices into wouldn't be bad. Except we know everything else would go in there too."
And Meatballs...how did she feel about that one?
"Are you thinking just meatballs or meatballs with something else, or...?"

Lower back rubbed he took a second to kiss his way down her spine. Massage had gone a little off but seem looked to be relaxing. "Our bedroom, guest room, office, and movie room. That was... the idea at least. We could make one room a play room. Games, movies, general entertainment." He thought it was a good idea at least. Something they could have to come back and relax, forget the missions and the death and just be in their own little slice of happiness.
"You come down and we'll pick out some color pallets. A floor plan." Would their bed face the sunrise, or the sunset? Life choices.
Does with his trail of kisses, her rubbed her back, no longer trying to give the deep massage from before. "Grilled? A chocolate fountain seems expensive, but I'm sure we could do some chocolate dipped fruit." He leaned next to her, keeping his hand on her back. "And we do more than meatballs if we grill. Steak and chicken. Pork isn't that expensive either depending where you get it."

Cass would have questioned the practicality of a guest room in any other circumstance - after all, she did currently have a long term guest in her own room after what had happened with the dorms SUDDENLY EXPLODING. Well, not exactly, but it was close.
"I like a 'fun' room for us. I don't know what we'd do with an office right now, but it doesn't hurt to hold onto the idea for now." she shivered and wiggled again as he kissed down her spine. "Mmmm, babe? Could you press your hands into my upper back? Just enough to pop my spine back into place?" she passed him a doe eyed look.
"They might not be. Would have to look into it, but either way fruit and chocolate are together in my head. I don't know about pork, though. Chicken is always good for me. But I don't know how often anybody around here gets to eat Steak, so I'd almost run with that just because..." she seemed to be thinking about it. "God, I don't even know the last time I ate steak..."

"An office is good for when we have to write up mission reports and keep long standing files on the more civilian side of things. I intend to invest in some things once we're a bit more stable to help us along." He planned on spending his life with her. Short or not, he wanted it to be a comfortable life.
Going to her back, he pressed down until her heard the familiar pop and crack of her spine, returning his touch to a soothing rub. Food was still up in the air... and they needed to figure it out. "It would be a bit cheap steak meat. pork we can drop but I'll take that as a yes to the chicken." He stopped rubbing pushing at her to scoot over.
"We can get a real steak of the two of us on the honeymoon. Make up for going steakless for so long."
