Frank's Belongings
User Image
The rattling jug- a mysterious family herloom that has lived on the Potente mantle for as long as Frank could remember. It's light tans and lavenders are a result of age, but it is thought that the thing used to be vibrantly colored. Frank's parents never told her what it was before they left, and she's had no reason to ask yet.

The eyeglass- a simple wooden, glass and brass telescope with extra -high def as one can get in pirate land- lenses. This was an artifact, old and probably an antique, from Frank's dad's old ship. He said that the navigator was well known for her fantastic skills, so Frank took the eyeglass hoping it would give her good luck with the weather.

The turtle necklace- Yes, it is alive. The turtle necklace was one of the few gifts sent to Franka for the holidays from her parents. One year they couldn't make it for the huge winter festival, so they sent her a new friend. His name is Jr., which is Franka's own childish shortenning of Gold D. Roger. G.R... Jr? Get it? No... anyway, Franka always held the man as a master of piratry in any form, and so decided to name her turtle after him.

Franks Relationships

Nellie- Frank has always seen this girl about the island, and every once in a while will hang out with her. The most recent example being thier excursion to the Pirate ship races. Frank doesn't know exactly what to think of Nellie yet, other than she is sure that she likes the girl. Nellie shows great potential for captainhood, and Frank hopes that once she gets a boat she and Nellie could be ship mates.

D'Tank- D is a weird kid in Frank's eyes, but cool. She admires his determination to train. However, she doesn't like his offstandish attitude and could very easily get offended by him. Even with that slight dissagreement of personalities she still thinks that he would be cool to be pirate mates with. Then she'd have no reason of being scared of getting beaten up, because D'Tank is pretty damn good with his swords.

Back Story

Franka was born in the winter months in a small house on Station Island, into a small family with a small amount of money. Their one treasure was a flask full of some odd bead-like things. It always sat, dry and rattly, atop their fireplace mantle.

Franka's father would tell stories about grand adventures on the sea, pirates with swords, and drunken parties with his buddies. It didn't matter that his daughter was only five years old... she didn't even understand half of it anyway right? He'd send her to bed every night with funky stories rolling through her mind like waves on the ocean.

The family wasn't well off, having just enough gold to keep stuff going. One day a trade ship came into town and boasted about sailing off and gaining a fortune. People joined the crew and set out for months of fishing, in hopes of bringing back fortunes. Due to their lack of money and a happy future for their child, both of Franka's parents signed up and shipped out. They had faith in her ability to stay at home and study; and faith in all of their neighbors and friends to make sure she didn't choke on a pea or anything.

So now, every month or so, Franka will wake up to a bird at her window, making awfull noises and carrying a bag of gold coins. Enough to feed and cloth her, and a couple extra for whatever else she needs. She'll spend a few hours a day playing with her friends; a few hours taking care of her house; and as many hours as her little body would allow studying sailing, meteorology, and astrology books. One day Franka would be out on those waves, and she'd have all of the fun that her daddy spoke about. All of the swinging on ropes, fighting evil pirates, eating lots of food, and all of the swashbucklingly fun cop-yew-lashun... whatever that was.

Being a smart little girl, for her family had always been money-wise, Franka decided to save at least one of those gold coins each month. She'd slink around her house, as if holding a precious treasure, and look for a good place to hide it, never choosing the same spot more than twice. So now her house is like a feild durring easter. Gold coins sit in cups up in high places, under floor boards or in furniture. One day Franka will have enough to buy her own pirate ship... she hopes. At least a ship. Or a dingy. And when that time comes she'll have to find a captain as well. No! Franka wouldn't want to be a captain, she'd want to be a navigator. A captain has to deal with negotiations, managing all that money, keeping the crew in tact. Franka just wants to watch the winds and guide a ship.

As the years passed Franka saw little of her parents. They came home for the winter seasons, but were out for the rest of the year. Without their pressence Franka still learned to be social and smart. Around the age of 10 she met up with Nellie, a funny little girl that lived on her island. Nellie liked pirates too, so they got along fine. Frank was able to share all of her knowledge and luff (for it was far beyond love) of the sky, the weather, and the stars with somebody. The two began to talk about wild adventures, the infamous Devils Fruit, of Gol D. Roger, Shanks, White Beard, and Mugiwara Pirates-the straw hats. They were each, secretly or not, plotting their own adventures.

-Annual Spring Island Festival- Franka's thoughts

The day started sadly. Franka awoke to a messanger bird at her window, the now common symbol that her parents had missed yet another festival, holiday or birthday. It toddled around as it waited for her to wake up and take the letter, a small peice of parchment smelling of the sea and fish. Sighing, Franka unrolled it sadly and read it's contents:

Quote:

Dearest Franka,

Daddy and I are sorry to say that we can't make it to the spring festival this year. In case you didn't get this on time we're sorry for the delay. We're quite a ways from home right now and there is no way that we'll be back in time.

We're sorry honey. We've sent some extra gold for you to spend. So have fun and win us a fish!

-Love Mommy and Daddy

Franka took the gold coins from a brown pouch attatched to the messanger bird's leg and put a couple coins in it's mouth for a tip. She wished her mom and dad could have come home for the any of the holidays they'd missed rather than the gold that they kept sending.

Rolling over she found Jr. laying on her other pillow. "Good morning Jr." she coo-d, patting his head as he made an odd squeeking noise. Grabbing his string she pulled the living turtle necklace over her head and jumped out of bed. Her noodly boddy stretched in about five different directions and she yawned, allowing the sadness from her parent's absence to leave her body with the air. She'd have fun today.

Franka spent the rest of the morning cleaning her house, reading, and checking her treasure stashes. Her parents sent her enough money each month to cover her needs, and often a little bit of money for herself. However, her lack of interest in things that cost money left most of that gold unspent. Instead she hid her treasure in silly places around the house, not wanting any robbers to find all of it in a traditional box under her bed. She checked under the floorboards, in the rafters, her stashes under her matress and in her teacups. In the dirt in her plant pottery and hidden in some hollowed out books. After the daily count of her not-so-illegal loot Franka decided that she had enough to win a few fish and eat a few nice things, but that she had better not spend too much or she'd NEVER get a ship.

Later that morning Franka had found her way to Nellie's house, a young pirate girl about her age that she'd known for a while. They weren't close friends, more like aquaintances. Nellie's love for reading and the ocean are what Franka really liked about the girl, and what made her decide to try to get to know her better. That's why she asked Nellie to go see the festival with her.

The two girls spent a great deal of time at the festival, lasting late into the night. Well, not too late. Only as late as Nellie's parents would allow. But the girls were out until past sunset, which is late enough for any young child. They spent their time awing over the pirate ships, talking about the books they'd read, trying to win fish and eating good festival food. It was generally just a fun day.

When the two parted Franka waved goodbye like her happy self, making a silly remark that made her come off as rather dorky, but as usual didn't notice much less care. It was best to always make those around you wonder. It kept them on their feet. But as soon Nellie was through the door Franka's face went from happy to blue, her hands clutching a bag with a fish but nothing else. She wished her mom and dad were there. They could go set the fish free together or something.

Instead the fish was put into a cute little bowl and set as off limits from Jr. No fish for him! And after a long day Franka fed her pet, brushed her hair and went to bed.
