A few months had passed since her last dragon hunt, things at the academy were getting boring. Kav decided to take a personal day to train and go dragon hunting. It wasn't long before she was at the peak of the fortress, choosing which portal to take back to Eowyn.
Today, there was actually a little line of Dovaa waiting to use the portals. Most of them seemed to be a little older than Kav, but she stood in line, waited her turn, and went through when she was finally able to. The portal itself was instantly closed when she walked through, like it normally did, and she found herself in the middle of the Malro Desert, where a couple of other Dovaa were sprinting from that area to go find Kiandri elsewhere.
Kav decided to follow one of the other Dovaa, who was on their way towards the large volcano at the time. Maybe he was going to find a Firani dragon? Who knew? But most importantly, she knew that she wasn't going to be fighting one of those anytime soon. She wasn't ready quite yet. She figured she'd stick with her Kiandri until she knew she would win against a Firani.
At that point in time, she could only think about her newly acquired friend, Alex. What was going on with him? Where was he at? Maybe she would have to take some time and visit again some day very soon. She wanted to anyway, she just didn't know when he would be home.
Either way, it was safe to say that she was heading in an aimless direction towards the volcano quite distracted with her own thoughts, not paying attention to things around her like she should. That would get her into trouble. Daydreaming was always a person's worst enemy when it came to trying to fend off a dragon. Especially if those dragons used the element of surprise.
Kav found herself in the middle of the desert, where she didn't think she would find anything. For miles she could only see the desert sands, but it wasn't just sand as she had initially thought. Suddenly, she felt a powerful shock up her spine. The electricity had been zapped by a younger Kiandri dragon from behind her a ways that she had apparently missed when looking around. They always seemed to blend in so well with the desert floors, but this one seemed almost invisible.
She quickly turned around after recovering from the shocking encounter. Kav quickly summoned her vines and just kept her eyes peeled for the little dragon that was sure to make a mistake at some point. It wasn't long before it did. She caught it with one of her vines when it attempted to send shock waves at her for a second time. The battle was over when it was caught by her vines. She had almost perfected the art of one hit kills versus the smaller dragons. A powerful whipping motion, forcing the dragon to the ground was her way of snapping the neck and causing the dragon to be instantly killed.
As per the usual, it worked again. The dragon let out a yelp, and slowly turned to bone, allowing Kav to pick up her reward and then go back home. She was very ready to be home and plan her next successful dragon hunting strategy...after she planned her next visit to Serenia.
