Gads! I just called the company that is shipping me my new camera. They sent me a message indicating I needed to call customer service about my order. Unfortunately, the call wasn't for any reason other than to upsell me!
Bleah!
However, the rep I talked to got me some of the high speed photo memory so I can take fast pics as an upgrade for free. He managed to talk me into a little tiny upgrade to a UV cover lens for my camera as well.
It should be here by Friday! I have been waiting for months to get a new one...and it's long over due! *wiggles with joy*

New camera? LUCKY.
I want one so bad. I'm a camera whore. Today I took over 100 pictures of my friends doing absolutely nothing. And now I'm going to edit them and make them purdy!

No today is a much worse day. I installed camera software and my config.sys got corrupted. It's not related, most likely...however, I spent time with my friend Tony working on the machine, and got it back up and running.
However, I used the restore cd that DigitalStorm provided should I need to wipe my harddrive and return the system to pristine condition, and Windows is not installing properly from it.
So, I'm now faced with taking time off work, because the company doesn't hold customer service hours any time except PST 7am - 7pm, Monday through Friday. I may have to ship the damn thing back to them if they can't figure out what's wrong. Whatever it is is extremely ugly.
It also means that I can't look for a new job online, speak to Khall except over the phone *which I hate* and it means I can't do much of anything at all computer related...indefinitely. *growls*
Plus, I can't even look at my pics to see if they don't suck. :/
Anyway, I have a deadline this morning I have to meet...so I'm off again.
Thanks for listening. I hope the hair tearing and shrieking doesn't offend you.

Oooh, that's nasty. Config.sys is a b***h at the best of times (speaking from years of experience back when I had Windows 95/98 ).
Um. Can you install the software in safe mode? Also, there are almost certainly software or driver conflicts, which means you ought to head over to the websites for the companies that make your camera and the other hardware/software on your computer. Of course, that might be hard if you can't actually get on the 'net.
If you have Windows XP and you've got an OEM version, you should be able to boot up from the CD and run the Recovery Console. In fact, even non-OEM versions should boot off CD (though that's not always the case).
If you have a Windows Startup Disk, you can boot into DOS from there and try some of the basic diagnostic programs - chkdsk and the like. If all else fails, back up your stuff, wipe and re-install. If you're having trouble re-installing, see if you can chase down a copy of an earlier version of Windows, install that, then install your current copy on top. That might work, and you'd be working from a graphical interface, which should un-complicate things a bit.
Without seeing the computer itself, that's all I can suggest.
