This is a private RP between: Zale x Briar Where: Spades What's happening: Briar has decided to visit the boy that refuses to keep in contact with his previous friends.
Zale curled his legs to his chest, watching the children at play. Still, it was Spades, and so their games were not the normal tag you would expect. No, it was mixed with hostility and violence. Still, it was a game, and Zale was not interested in games. Pulling himself up, he decided to take a walk. His training was done, he had the evening to himself.
Grabbing the nearest item he could, a stick, he brushed his fingers across it as he headed for the shopping district, eyes flicking briefly to the side as he remembered one of Sully's rules. He was not allowed to take main routes, he was supposed to be learning how to get places without directly using sidewalks or streets.
Sighing to himself, he glanced about, seeking an alley to vanish into .

Briar had been wanting to go to the Spades for a while. It sounded crazy for the little blonde after his last visit where he cried his eyes out from playing a game of tag. But lately he has been so concern about a certain Treeko who has been acting differently from his visit over at the Clubs. Since then they've been pulling apart and it frighten the boy terribly. And so hearing that his father is going to the Spades' Market for business he immediately want to go. It surprised Dmitri that his little boy was willing to go instead of staying at the fields but none the less he allowed.
He sat on the wooden cart as Briar looked around at the market. The elderly Shiftry was already speaking to some of the market visitors as he sold some of the produce. But soon he was feeling bored sitting down with the horse and scooted forward a bit to jump down and walk around. He held on to his worn out cape by the beads as he looked around for his friend, trying to avoid eye contact with the denizens of Spades, unknowingly he was being eyed about by the children wanting to play with the wandering boy . . .

Zale was about to leave when he heard a cackle, head tilting back. This was a different sound, not full of violent but joyous later. No. It was cruel, intended for someone not playing this sinister game of tag.
He caught the sight, eyes widening. Someone was raising a sharp stick at a very familiar male, smile wide and fanged. s**t. Zale reacted before he could think, then again, he was sure he would react this way even if he could properly think. His body darted forward, foot kicking at the knee of the attacker and sending the boy on the ground. The foot that had attacked landed on the ground, tilted to the side, and allowed his now free leg that hadn't kicked raise in the air, gaining momentum before landing violently into the others stomach.
"No." Zale snarled, grinding his foot and only releasing when he saw the gang of children rush towards him. He turned swiftly, grabbing the boys hand that looked familiar and wrenching him, forcing him to run right towards an alley.
As he attempted to make the boy run he noted that yes, it was Briar. He was correct. Why the hell was this boy in Spades?! Well, it was Zale's job to make sure Briar got out of it, or was at least safe. Currently, they wouldn't be if Briar didn't start running!

Briar stood out like a sore thumb here in the market. His vibrant green orbs spot the others shopping here who looked like worn out spirits with blood on their souls. He tried to keep his calm being here as he looked for Zale but it proven to be futile as the market was full of people and yet couldn't find a little boy with green hair. "I should go back to papa . . ." Although the moment he turned around . . . his father was nowhere in sight! What Briar had fail to realize is that he has been walking even farther than he originally thought. "Papa . . ."
Just as he was about to walk back to find the cart, his leafy ears perk up when he heard the sudden sounds of combat which made him instantly turn to face the alley. He gasped loudly seeing a boy flying from the darkness down to the ground but instead of looking at the boy he had found his friend; the innocent and loving Zale. Watching his golden eyes stared intently at the other boy who was still on the ground was something frightening to see for the grass type. He never knew that his eyes would look like that . . . it almost looked like what he has seen here from the market goers. Briar had watched the other leg now lifted up for a menacing heel drop that landed right on the attacker's stomach, knocking the air out of him and winced as if he felt the pain.
He wanted answers on what was going on, but Briar was not given the choice on the matter. Zale had immediately grabbed his hand and forced him to run down the alley which he did. After seeing the gang of children after them Briar made a mad dash right behind him. He was happy that all the times of running and climbing trees made him fast and agile just to get away from the other children. "Where are we going Zale?!" Briar asked in bewilderment, clenching on to his hand. But other than that he remained silent, looking back a couple of time to see if they are still being persuaded, and following Zale's lead. He knew that he is very far away from his father and knew that the elderly Shiftry is concerned that his dear boy is now lost within the Spades.

He didn't answer at first, simply clung to Briar's hand as he pushed his legs faster. Good. Briar was a good runner. Clenching the others hand tighter, he decided the boy had proven he could keep up, bolting at full speed.
As they ran he dragged Briar down many alleys, silently glad for Sully's insistence that he learned the routes of alleys. Suddenly, he pulled Briar sharply into an alley and releasing Briar's hand, pressing himself against the wall.
"I am sorry." He managed, panting. He was still young, his endurance wasn't as good as it would be when he was older. "I would have fought them, but I have not learned how to fight a gang and keep you safe at the same time."

Briar did believed that he was a good runner, but after running with Zale through the alley he was already tired! He couldn't believe just how fast the Treeko boy was moving but he didn't complained a single thing as they slipped through the different alleys. Suddenly he was sharply pulled to one and felt his hand being released and he leaned against the wall to catch his breath. From the corner of his eyes he saw Zale hugging the wall as he panted and listened to him speak. "I-it's okay . . ." The Leafeon boy managed to speak but soon caught on to his last words about learning how to fight a gang while keeping him safe.
"Fight . . ." He said at first, feeling the breath returning to his body normally as he still leaned against the wall next to him. "Zale . . . what's going on? Why are you fighting?" His bright green eyes grew full and sullen as though he is on the verge of tears. Briar knew something must be going on but he never thought of this. "Just . . . what happen Zale?"

The boy flinched as the other questioned, head turning slowly to view the other. He didn't want to explain. He didn't want to acknowledge what he was becoming right now, nor to Briar. So, instead he danced around the subject.
"This is Spades. There is always fighting." He grumbled, sighing as he heard the gang vanish. Good. "Spades is a hostile environment. Outsiders are easily targeted." His sentences were clearer, articulate, unlike when he last saw Briar. Turning to view Briar once more, he frowned.
"Why are you here?"

It had annoyed Briar that he wasn’t given the answers he desired for except for the mere obvious. The Spades are a frightening faction who does not take outsiders as lightly as what he had experienced with the children here. But hearing how he spoke ever so clearly with his veil words it was best not to push on the subject as much and even more seeing Zale’s frown.
Briar frowned even more seeing his eyes lowering down to see the floor and the rosy glass beads of his gown. “I . . . I came here with my Papa to sell the veggies and fruits here. But actually . . . I came to see you Zale.” His bright green eyes looked up to see the sharp yellow of his gaze with a weak of a smile on his face. “You’ve changed so much when I last saw you and I was so worried about you . . . . I wanted to see you again. And so . . . here I am.” He laughed sheepishly as he tried to ease the air around them for it felt so thick that it made his leaves feel so dry.

Kindness. He didn't want it, he didn't want to accept it. Briar was too kind to him. He was a pure being, currently. A child of smiles and hard work, and only that. A child. Zale wanted to shove Briar, though he wanted to wrap his arms around him more. This frightened him, for he could not even begin to indulge these greedy desires of his. Malo and Briar were not to be around him. He needed to push them away. He needed to protect them.
"You should not be here." He whispered, voice cracking slightly. He was still a child, he wasn't perfect at masking things yet, and he wouldn't be until he was older. He was still a young boy struggling with something that someone his age should not, and it was wearing its toll.
"I am taking you back to your Guardian."

He . . . he couldn't believe what he was hearing even though it was just an audible whisper. It made the warm heart boy feel so cold that is slowly creeping up to his core. "But . . . why?" Briar asked even though he believed that he won't even get a straight answer for that as well and all the more hurt himself.
When he was told that Zale is going to take him back to his Guardian, he took a small step back while bringing his hands pressed against his chest for he doesn't want Zale to take them. "No, I'm not going back . . . not until we talk more." The blonde had spoken, while it sounded weakly, he was firm in his decision. "Why are you doing this Zale?"

'Stop'. His mind was screaming as Briar spoke, legs wanting to run. 'Why? Why do you care? Why does everyone care? Go away. Please. Please go away. I can't... I.... can't.... can't...'
He had to fight not to crumble right then and there, head turning to the side. He couldn't anymore. He couldn't struggle, he needed to promise himself, he needed to lie to everyone.
He didn't think he'd be sane the next time he woke.
"....Dangerous." He croaked, hands raising and halting, about to flip his hood. No, that was for children. "Stay away from me. I am dangerous."
'Stop! Do not tell him! Stop!'
But he had to.

His leafy ears twitched, capturing his words. 'Dangerous' 'Stay away'. More and more Briar could feel his heart hurting but he still had a smile on his face, albeit a weak one.
"No . . ." Briar spoke in a gentle tone voice as he stepped forward and place a hand on his shoulder. "Zale you're not dangerous. You protected me from the other children. You saved me Zale . . ." The air was thick between them but he still pursued through it and managed to wrap his arms around him for a tight hug, nuzzling his face to his cheek as he tried to nurture the boy. "You're my friend, I'm always here for you. Even if you asked me to stay away. Please . . ." His voice had cracked slightly on the last word for he could feel the tears welling in his eyes now, betraying to fall.
"Zale . . . don't push me away." . . . . "You're killing me . . ."

Zale recoiled from his friend, eyes wild and harsh. The boy stumbled slightly as he managed to push himself away and into a wall. He shook his head, hands raising.
He needed the other to leave him!
'Don't you get it?! I'm a part of Spades! I am not like you!' His voice was raw, wild, frightened. He was unable to stop his childish emotions, too young. Too young and unprepared. The boy wrenched backwards, again, and this time he did flip his hood over his head, nails digging into his palms.
'I'm going to hurt people, like my guardian. I may hurt people you love. I am going to hurt and take and break and I... I can't... I can't do this to you!"'

Briar had never felt so hurt before in his life seeing Zale like this. He's trying to help him, comfort him, but Zale keeps on moving away from him. It made him want to cry but he holds his tears back seeing him hiding underneath his hood. While he wants to walk up and give him a big hug, he's afraid that it's going to make him run away from him again. He . . . he just can't let him go from his life. Never. He won't allow it at all.
But he manage to pull up a smile from somewhere inside of him. "I know, I know you're a part of Spades. I know what sort of things that the Spades would do." They are known especially as assassins and murders and one day Zale would be one in the future. "But . . . I don't care. It means that I have to be stronger for the people who I love, and that includes you Zale." His smile grew brighter as he slowly steps a little closer to him, not wanting to startle him. "You're not a monster. If you are one, then you wouldn't say those things to protect me. And . . . and I'm not gonna give up on you. You are my friend Zale and so I will always think of you as one no matter what." That is what he always have believed in and doesn't want to throw away their friendship despite they live completely different lives.
