This is a private RP between: Atticus and Zale
Where: Hearts, somewhat near the castle.
What's happening: Zale stumbles upon a familiar face, and isn't quite sure if he likes it...

Zale watched as Sully left the area, heading for the castle quietly. The Treecko did not follow, he knew better. Instead, he promptly turned around and glanced about. The castle was of no interest to him, and whatever the reason Sully had for approaching it was strictly business.

Picking himself up from his resting spot, the boy decided to head off towards the sound of other childish voices. He was not going to play, he was simply curious. Leaping into the nearest tree, he leapt branch to branch until he spotted a crowd of kids, stiffening as he spotted them poking at a deal animal. Of course. Were all Heart delegates like that one creepy boy?!

Those stupid children.

Atticus was certain that he, in fact, did not like children. Especially children around his own age. Terrible, lying, back stabbing, framing... GAH! Of course, he had lied about Malo, that was what got him into this terrible mess in the first place. He'd tried way to hard. He'd gone beyond his limits. He'd been too smart for his own good and when he had framed Malo for being the one messing with Tab's mutilated body, vengeance came back tenfold. Sure, he hadn't killed Tabs, a cart ran over the old tabby cat. It was sad... But he was more interested in the cat's inner workings.

The venipede winced as the children around the corner laughed and prodded the dead thing. He'd have gotten in trouble for that, just as Malo had been grounded for three weeks. Should he bother even trying to warn them of just what their aberrant behavior would bring upon them? Maybe his leaving dead animals around in the woodlands had caused more trouble than he initially thought it would. The boy bit his lip to the point that it throbbed. A broom was held firmly in his grip and he swept furiously. He'd get in trouble, surely, if he was caught slacking off.

He wasn't a farmhand anymore. It was only his age that saved him from having his head prematurely parted from his shoulders. That poor horse... He still couldn't believe Malo had killed the gelding or that the others believed that he, in fact, had done it. He protested his innocence, but everyone believed Malo... Now, he was known in Hearts as a horsekiller and nothing would change that.

It was then that he saw Atticus, tail flicking. He remembered him from briefly encountering him, the boy had been poking road kill. Why wasn't he joining? Curiously, the boy wasn't one usually to approach others, but this time he did. He was seeking company, only for a brief period of time though.

"Why aren't you joining them?" He questioned, folding his arms as he viewed the other children. Maybe Atticus had decided to no longer torment the dead? Oh, he'd be thrilled with that, completely.

"I'm not allowed."

His answer was short and simple. He was trying to act normal. Er, normal enough at least until he was out of the dungeon's holds. He lived there, now, under the watchful eye of an unpleasant golurk. Ok, so he wasn't unpleasant, but Atticus pictured him as unpleasant. He was more strict than Rett... Or maybe he wasn't that, either, he just paid more attention to the child. Either way, he was still adjusting to his new living situation and his new lifestyle.

He spent much of his time cleaning and tidying around the castle and castle grounds, punishment for a murder he didn't commit. The boy sighed.

"Ivan would skin me alive if he caught me, anyway. Those kids are lucky there aren't any adults around." He snorted softly and diverted his emerald gaze towards the other boy, who he recognized, yet didn't know all that well.

Wasn't allowed? Fine. Still, he viewed it as gross. At least the other wasn't rushing ahead to join them.

"I see." His response was just as short and simple. Pushing back hair from his eyes, the male glanced at the other, spotting that Atticus was looking towards him. "Shall I get an adult?" As trained as he was to be mature and a deadly fighter, Zale still had a slight mischievous side that tried to push through the suffocating maturity that liked to push it back. He knew where to get the adults, they weren't to far, he had seen them before. Perhaps he could lure them here.

Atticus closed his eyes for a moment, as if deep in thought, but his little broom never quit swishing. Even if he was talking, he still wanted to at least look busy, even if he was only kicking up dust in the process. He reallllllllly didn't fancy getting into further trouble, after all.

"Get the adults? Well, I suppose we could do that, yes." Just what he needed, to be more despised around Hearts, not only by adults, but by children as well. Not that he really hung out with any of them, or anything. Still, he felt as though he should try to fit in, regardless of how futile his attempts had been thus far. The tiny venipede snapped open his attentive, vibrant eyes and turned his gaze to Zale.

"It really bothers you, doesn't it? Why does it bother you so much?"

He was about to leave to find the adults, stopped when the other spoke. Yellow eyes focused on the boy, a grumpy frown forming on his normally quiet lips.

"It is unhygienic." He finally admitted. "Even using a stick it is not hygienic to be poking a dead creature." He did not explain further, he didn't like showing his dislike for anything dirty. He liked to take care of his body, he ate healthy and lived healthy. Folding his arms, he tilted his head at the other.

"Why does it amuse you so much? You told me before that you wanted to see how it worked, correct? Poking can not be that helpful, wouldn't dissecting it in a safe environment be better?"

PostPosted: Tue Jul 10, 2012 7:25 pm

"Well, yes, dead things are unhygienic. Many things are. That's why you don't touch it." His dour expression briefly turned on it's head as he offered a wry grin to the other child. The other was obviously uncomfortable, something the venipede didn't understand, either. Then again, most seem to be uncomfortable with the subject of the dead.

"Not everyone has access to the things needed, such as proper tools." He shrugged, rolling his shoulders as he swept. Poking was certainly not as informative as he wished it had been, but he had done more with shears and stakes... Not that he was about to talk about that with this stranger. He didn't talk about it, ever.

"It's not amusing so much as it is informative... Though not as much as I would like it to be. One day, I will have all that fancy equipment and an environment in which to do it."

A scientist or doctor, this boy was built for one. Raising an eyebrow, he nodded as he listened, head turning to view the boy.

"I can give you a knife." Granted, he didn't normally do these things, but he had several knives he collected, and he had several repeats. He didn't seem to really understand that a child offering to give away knives was probably dangerous and wrong, or he didn't care.

Tail flipping, the boy watched the kids, frown still on his lips. Briefly, he wondered if they themselves had murdered the animal....

This piqued the insect child's interest and he turned to look Zale over once more. It certainly wasn't every day that a child offered to give away a weapon, especially in Hearts. This one had to be from another faction... He didn't recognize him beyond a brief meeting, after all. He shrugged it off, but powerful curiosity obviously possessed him.

"A knife? I'd like a knife. What would you like in return?"

He followed the other child's gaze to the rambunctious children that did not seem appalled by the dead thing they were playing with. They'd attract attention soon enough, he warranted. It wasn't like they were being discrete, like he usually was.

Blinking, the boy turned to view the other. What would he like? Sully had said favors were more important than money in his line of work, but seeing as Zale was not working yet... What could he ask for? He didn't have much that he wanted, or if anything. Perhaps someone to cut into his head and remove the inner turmoil he had, but that was impossible. He had no desires, and he had no requests. Except...

"A feather." Birds. He loved them, their ability to be free and not only that, but to fly. Birds were beautiful, and he wanted one. Though, seeing as Atticus probably could not actually acquire a bird for him he would settle for a feather.

"A feather?" He repeated the question, almost to himself. He could get a feather pretty easily, of that he was sure. The ol' golurnk had birds on the castle grounds. Pigeons. They were interesting birds, could be used for carrying messages. He liked them and he wanted one, though Ivan didn't really trust him around animals yet... No wonder, not with the vicious lie Malo had spread.

"I can get you a feather. I'll go get it. Will you be here when I get back?" He tilted his head slightly, already tracing the path to the flight cage that sat behind Ivan's home. He'd seen it a few times, but had been forbidden to go back there. Believe it or not, the jailkeep didn't spend all his time in the dungeon.

He merely nodded, a silent yes. A feather. He would get a feather. This pleased him, almost showing as the corners of his mouth twitched, though they froze just in time. Wonderful. Perhaps he would place it in a bottle and wear it around his neck? Pleased, the boy sat on the ground, folding his legs. He'd wait right here for Atticus.

Quietly, his hand took out his knife, the knife he'd be giving to Atticus soon, and viewed it quietly. It was a knife that needed to be flipped to be used. He had forgotten the name of it. His finger pressed the button that released the blade, then closed it once more, setting it back into his hood.

Atticus was eager, if anything, though he tried not to betray this feeling in his actions. The insect boy gave the other a curt nod, satisfied that the other boy would still be there when he returned. He wasn't about to risk life and limb getting near Ivan's birds for nothing.

The venipede boy hurried along the pathway, his broom left propped against the wall of the shop he had been sweeping in front of. It wasn't too terribly far away from his new home and he knew the building was empty. It was Ivan's shift, so he'd be down, below the castle. Sneakily, the boy slipped through the fence and inched his way to the large, spacey cage that housed many carrier pigeons. Getting a feather was as simple as entering, rooting around until he found a pretty gray and white one that wasn't stained with bird poo, and slipping back out.

He carried the feather like a prize and was proud at not being spotted. At least, he was pretty sure he hadn't been spotted. Upon returning to the spot where Zale waited, he presented the feather to the other for inspection.

"A feather, like you asked."

He watched the other leave, quickly, and focused on the blade quietly. His tail thumped once against the ground, a low sound, and his hands slid into the safety of his hood pocket. A feather. He was going to get a feather, good. It pleased him, despite the carefully trained young boys face. Large yellow eyes glanced up as a bug fluttered by, tongue clicking in response to the cicadas chime before once more staring intently at the ground. It was only when he heard footsteps did he look back up.

Oh. His hand extended to view the feather, tail flicking like a dogs until he realized what he was doing, stopping it hastily and focusing on the feather. Yellow eyes contracted and expanded as light hit them, hands seeking the knife he just hid and presenting it to Atticus.

"Thank you."
