I made this about Playstation Home... but I'm sure the same could be said of any virtual world.

I've noticed when guys use female avatars in Home... they get called gay or tranny. But... really... why shouldn't a person make an avatar he or she considers good looking even if it's not the same gender?

I've actually met people who get upset if the avatar is nothing like your real self. Hello, it's a customizable character, why not go wacky and make whatever you want?



In Japan Home 80% of the users are male. But there's more female avatars on it then male avatars because of Japanese people having a cuteness obsession.

And if male USA Home users weren't so obsessed with dating online maybe people wouldn't put on female avatars long enough to attract crowds of guys, only to switch to an ugly male avatar? But that's a different subject altogether.
