If any of you have any ideas for the Conan RP, I'm open to them. Remember, there is room for literally anything here. If you have a magic user who summons demons and devils and whatnot, that's perfect. If you have someone who worships Gods, that's perfect. This is a brand new world that I have never seen anybody explore on Gaia, and is very little explained in the comics. Hell, there's even room for aliens, here!

I haven't played a summoner in a very long time.. that's extremely tempting. Again, I don't have much experience with the Conan world then what I read when I was a child. Perhaps a necromancer or something of the like. I also like the idea of a demon conjurer. Hmmm..

Honestly, you really don't need to know anything about Conan's universe. Just pick an area, pick an ethnicity, pick a God, and create your character. You can make up a lot of the stuff as you go. That's what's amazing about this particular role play. Each person creates their world as they go.

Found a character that interests me quite a bit:

http://aoc.wikia.com/wiki/Keaira

Think I'm going to think on it for a long while, see if I can't reinvent her a bit.

In order to truly capture the idea of the Conan universe, we must fall deep Deeeeeeep into Nietzschean and Darwinist philosophy. Ubermensch, Survival of the fittest.

Of course. Any ideas for arcs or characters?

Also, you seem to really enjoy Conan, but what about Cthulhu? If you do, and you haven't read the Primal Land series by Brian Lumley, you may want to check it out. It's not Conan per se, but it's kind of like a cross-over of Conan and Cthulhu mythos. The main character, Tarra Khash is very much like Conan.

Haha my mew friend, as im sure Stray will tell you I am facinated by cosmic horror and the madness that comes with it. and speaking of cthulhu and conan, robert e howard and h. P. Lovecraft were buddies, and many of their stories fed off eachother. Anything pulp attracts me. And I have hear of Lumley, havent given him a chance yet, but I suppose I should.

Now, as for story arcs, I suggest we have a group of adventurers going around doing what conan did. What is so great about the tales are that there is a man that everyone considers a barbarian, an outsider, someone of a lower caste, who overcomes impossible odds, versus horrible things most people would die just thinking about. Sword and sorcery. I suggest we play swords,.amd have enemies be sorcerers. Generally sorcerers in Hyborea command awesome powers that areunspeakable. But its old magic, human sacrifice, rituals, enchanted items. Not so much as the simple harry potter I say these the incantation amd magoc happens. Very rarely can someone raise their hand and shoot death from it. that means as players, we would be much better off on the non magic side, though we could be paramounts of human exellence. Conan was strong, had crazed endurance, amd was smadt(at least in the stories). At the same time he was still human...

We're going to get along just fine. There are so many authors who were inspired by Lovecraft, and I only recently started getting into Cthulhu.

As for the Conan role play, I would be playing Conan at age 19-20. And anybody who commands a magic user would obviously have a base of operations (just like in the stories), and, just like in the stories, would usually be (depending on alignment and which deity he/she worships) be friend or foe.

The beauty of this RP (as I've said multiple times to many people) is that everybody can have their own story line. What I mean is that while the main story will focus on Conan, there is so many more than just Conan's story going on. While that may not sound fantastical to some, it is unique in that there can be a whole separate world happening at the same time as wherever Conan happens to be. In addition to this, Conan would then have a sample of each of these worlds in his quest for his own throne.

Now, the point of this Conan role play is to explain the Marvel "What-If" universe where the Cimmerian Empire rules for eight thousand years. If you would be so kind as to PM me your thoughts and ideas as to that, it would be greatly appreciated because then I could understand more full why you don't think it would be plausible.

Aye, I can tell we will get along. I would be thrpwing a lot more work into this, but I havent been home for a few days and writing on my phone is a bother. And yes, I like the idea of large storylines, simply because Sword and sorcery focuses on characters, rather than world conflict. So anything glorifying the characters is good.

I'm totally incorporating Shuma-Gorath into the Conan role play. So if you, or anyone else, have any ideas for characters who are devoted to him, or trying to banish him, that would be great.

I honestly have never heard of him until now, but really all you need to have a follower is to make a wizard/cult that worships him and does his bidding.

Shuma-Gorath was created (in name) by Robert Howard. He was imprisoned by Crom.

Well i went to Wikipedia and looked him up after you mentioned him, he sounds an interesting character. Though it mentions that he was only mentioned briefly in a Kull story about 30 years after Howards Death in a posthumous publication. This meaning the story of Shuma-Gorath is mostly created by secondhand people.

Which isn't to say that I don't greatly approve, it is just outside my area of expertise thus so far. Like I said though, he would be an easy addition to the countless vile gods worshiped by cultists and freaks, and there can be an epic campaign to try and stop his revival.
