We've recently discovered there is still a lot of borrowing of ideas going on where people are still using material from this guild without permission so I decided we needed a section about this. First and foremost, you need permission before using ANYTHING from THIS GUILD in another place. ANYTHING. AT ALL. Please read the following information carefully and if you have already broken any of these unspoken rules, please come clean and ask permission now!




-Is it okay for me to create an RP that copies Rosentale's class/school system as long as I give credit?

Please let us know first and ask politely. Come on, guys. This should be obvious. We didn't put this stuff up and say 'feel free to use it'--we've made it clear that we worked hard on this system FOR this guild. ASK before you just flop it up in another guild and assume it's okay.


-Is it okay for me to create a character 'inspired' by a character here in Rosentale?

Ask the owner first. No exceptions. And if they say no, don't do it.


-Is it okay for me to copy the relationship system some of the users have in their threads and use it somewhere else?

Ask first! The system most of us use was something of a collaborative effort but the first version of it was created by Liesolotte. Ask her before you use it anywhere else. Don't assume she'll be okay with it. ASK.


-Is it okay for me to make events and other characters from Rosentale an official part of my character's profile and history in another guild?

NO! Not unless you ask first. Don't reference specific names and characters unless you ask. It's just rude. You should be seeing a trend here, right? ASK.


-Is it okay to use an edited version of the rules, profile template or any other official 'document' from the guild?

NO. Ask first. The things we created for this guild, we didn't intend to be used elsewhere. It's not that hard to come up with your own templates and rules so don't just copy ours. If you're going to set up your own RP, take the time to come up with your own rules and templates.


-Is it okay for me to take any pictures I see in this guild and use them for my own characters and things in another guild?

If the artwork is the original art of the character owner, absolutely not. Do NOT take any original artwork from this guild and use it elsewhere. Ever. And even if it's not, bear in mind that some people make substantial edits to art they find online so you may want to ask or let someone know you intend to use their pictures just as a heads up.


-Is it okay for me to use post styles I've seen in this guild for my own characters?

Look, no. Many people spend a lot of time working on their post styles. Have respect for the creativity of other people. You don't walk into a store and take something just because you think it's pretty. Even if you took it and gave the store credit, you'd still get in trouble for not paying. Theft is theft. Don't take something just because it's pretty or clever.

You can always ask but you don't just take things.


~Is it okay for me to copy things from another guild and use them in Rosentale?

No, no, no, no, no. If we find out you're doing this, there is a good chance we will be notifying the original owners of the material about what's going on. Everything you post in this guild should be your original creations!

This section is for characters specifically to do with how to RP in this guild. We'll deal with any issues you have trying to get involved or anything else to do with actually posting in the RPs!




~What is the best way to get involved in things in the guild?

To put it bluntly? Send your student to class. If you have a student who never goes to class, they will be excluded. I have seen it time and time again. Class is the absolutely best place to get to know other characters so if you really want to get involved, your characters should be in class as much as possible. This is where they'll forge friendships, which will, in turn, help them be involved in whatever crazy antics are going on.

If you have ideas for a plot, post it up in one of the OOC chat threads designated for that kind of thing. If you have a teacher, post in the teacher's lounge. It's a good place for teachers to meet up and hang out.

Teacher or student, don't post your character off in a weird location and expect people to come to you. If your character is off in the garden during class, no one else is going to show up. The lounges and class rooms are the best places for interaction during the school day.


~No one is paying attention to my really special, unique character. What do I do to make people notice me?

Stop trying. There are no special snowflakes in Rosentale. I don't care how beautiful, cool, badass, sweet, immortal, godlike, powerful, amazing your character is. I don't care if they have wings, horns, or if they sparkle or glow. NO ONE stands out in this guild because of some 'unique' physical attributes. We have characters with horns, limbs that fall off, wings, weird eyes, scales, claws, glowing skin, tails, weird ears, strange clothes, creepy teeth. We have really tall characters, and super short, delicate, petite ones. We have hideous characters, we have drop dead gorgeous characters. We have shapeshifters, angels, demi-gods, unicorns, mummies...we have EVERYTHING.

Your character does not stand out. That is the point of this guild. Stop trying to draw attention them as if they're more special than the other characters who have the same attributes. You'll be much happier if you just let them interact normally without trying to force people to be surprised by them.


~I want romance! How do I attract a boy (or girl) character?

Have your character get to know people in class and let romance happen naturally. Do not pick a character with a hot picture and get your heart set on romance. Do not stalk people or force yourself (and your character) on them. Just relax, and go with the flow. Many people in this guild have had bad experiences with RPing romance (check out the hall of shame and you'll see what I mean) so don't try to force it.

RP romance is best when it happens naturally.



~Where can I find pictures for my characters?

well, the best thing to do is draw the picture yourself or commission an artist on Gaia! After all, it's always great to know you're using original artwork. But if you really must find pictures from another site, there are loads of places with anime artwork like zerochan, booru or photobucket.

Just be sure you don't hotlink to someone else's photobucket! It's rude to use up their bandwidth. Also, make sure all pictures fit the guild guidelines--no panty shots or epic cleavage. This is a highschool RP so we don't have to go ultra-sexy!


~Are teacher-student romances okay?

Only providing the student in question is at least 17-18 years old. If the student is 16 or younger, we will not be allowing any romances or pseudo-romances with teaching staff and another character will shut the relationship down. We don't support underaged relationships so we only let older students have romances with teachers.


~What happens if two characters are having an intimate moment? Can we RP it if we keep it really vague? Or should we take it to PMs?

There is only one appropriate answer to this question. TIME SKIP. End of story. RPing sex on Gaia is not okay no matter how vague it is and no matter where it takes place. Sexy scenes are just as against the rules in PMs as they are elsewhere and you will be reprimanded if you ever solicit someone to PM things like this.

Even vague sex scenes are against our rules and Gaia's ToS. Affection and flirting are okay but the moment clothes come off or things start heading toward any intimate actions--Time skip. Always.

I enjoy this thread immensely. I really enjoy the fact that this guild is so insistent on character flaws, and despite it being a little tough to crack after the... ahem, less literate side of gaia RPing, I don't want to give up on it anytime soon. As for the character artwork... ahem, I'm not amazing or anything, but I would be willing to do character pics for free. Free is good, so... yeah, just throwing that out there.

I don't feel that I need to reinsert my rant about stealing other people's stuffs here. It still gets my flux capacitor in a twist if you know what I mean.

And witches are obviously made of wood.
