I am making a Tardis costume for my friend's son for Halloween this year. I have seen many dress versions, but I have yet to see a male version of the Tardis.
I have seen a few stores that sell hoodies with the Tardis designs on them like so:

I was thinking about doing something similar for my friend, but I almost feel that it will be easier for her to just buy one of the hoodies and a matching pair of sweatpants, but I can't find any that would fit a three-year-old.

My other choice would be to use a box and either paint it or make a Tardis cover for it. I would end up with something like this:

And with either costume I think this hat is appropriate:

My question for you, what do you think would work better for a young child?
I think he would be more comfortable in a hoodie and pants, but the box outfit would be adorable. Also, do you know where we could find a kids sized Tardis hoodie?

I myself have a younger brother who just turned five recently, and I can safely say that as much as I love him, he can't be trusted around anything without getting it dirty, or spilling something all over himself. As adorable as it would be to make the little box for him, even though it might not require much work there's probably a good chance he'll ding it up, or bend an edge or mess up some of the paint; we are talking about a young boy, after all. If it's just a hoodie and some sweats you can just put all of it in the wash, and then he can wear it all the time even when it isn't for costume purposes! Of course, that's merely my opinion.

I'm not quite sure where you could get a hoodie that small, but you can always go the cop out option and get one as small as possible and then shrink it down in the wash.

You can also try looking Here.

I agree with Yoko, how old is the kid exactly.

As fascinating as the actually box is, I'd question if he'd be able to move in it in relation to his size.

Well guys, if she's saying she wants to find something that'll fit a three year old, I think it's safe to say he's a three year old. >.>

Anyways, if he's three, as cute as a box may be... yeah, it's not going to survive a few hours. Babysitting a three year old girl every weekend, I know how chaotic such a young child would be. And there's certainly a reason why I don't really let her touch ANY of my possessions. And you're dealing with a little boy here, which usually means twice the chaos and definitely more roughhousing. Not to mention a box isn't exactly too easy to move around in - and if there's one thing children like to do, it's fidget and squirm and run around (which leads to falling down at least once or twice). Even the most mild and calm of children have their wild moments.

I would have to say hoodie and sweatpants, though I couldn't really tell you where you could find a TARDIS sweatshirt for a little kid. ^^;

If this is something that will be used for Halloween only, however, you could do the box idea since a Halloween costume is only usually worn for a few hours anyways.

I was at a convention this past weekend and a man had altered a blue suit for a Tardis costume. That should work for a child, too.
