Awendela had done more traveling today than she had done in probably the last three or four days. She'd found a spot that had quite stolen her heart, and had decided to inhabit it, as it didn't seem too many creatures passed through. It was a nice little place, with a small protected area, a small pool of water to rinse in and drink from, some little patches of grass- dry grass, but albeit, grass. There was two trees that sat right next to each other, one was much smaller, stunted. They were next to a nice, flat rock that jutted out from the ground. The red-furred female liked to lay on that one and observe her surroundings.
Today, she went a little further away from it than she had bothered before. She had decided that it would be nice to see what else was around, possibly encounter something or someone different. Awendela had already encountered two others of her own kind since taking up lodging at her tiny waterhole, and she assumed there must be more creatures around here somewhere. Though she was slightly nervous of lines, it was only fair to assume she would run into one around here eventually. Stopping for a moment, the hyena female panted in the heat, wishing for her little hole-in-the-ground now. Maybe it hadn't been such a great idea to wander off...She turned to look back in the direction she had come from and couldn't tell any sign of her little self-claimed home. The female shrugged and turned back around, plopping onto her hindquarters for a little break.

'Tihooske, I told you several times not to leave the pride!' The cub could already hear his mother's voice in his head as he frantically ran through the brittle grass. Panting heavily, he chased the birds he would spot, 'roaring' and jumping up at them as they flew off. He didn't understand her concern. What could be so bad about this? This was fun and exciting. Being back at the pride with the other cubs was boring, especially when the others wouldn't want to play. Nothing will ever be as great as freedom... well, besides fighting.
Getting bored of chasing the birds, despite his trophy of a few feathers in his mouth, Tihooske trotted forward. As he pressed onward, something bright caught his attention, causing his ears to perk on his head. What is that?! He thought as his trotting slowed. It didn't last long as he gave a toothy grin and ran toward this thing at full clip. After closing the distance, he let out another 'roar' as he leapt out to the creature to pounce it. Unfortunately, he landed short, but did manage to land on its bushy tail, now having it pinned under his paws. "Gotcha!"

Dela was shocked as suddenly out of nowhere something had landed on her tail with a roar. She yelped and jumped up from where she was sitting, a few of her long tail hairs being pulled out. She growled fiercely and whipped around, hackles raised- only to see that her attacker was only a little ball of fur, a cub. She let her hackles down and glared at it for a second. "What are you doing?!" She cried, her golden eyes narrow at the cub.
"You know you're lucky you're just a baby. I hope you know you could get in a lot of trouble just going and pouncing on creatures." The red-coated hyena scolded. She wouldn't attack a cub, of course not, but she wanted this little one to know that if she had been someone else, his life could have been in grave danger. "What's a small thing like yourself doing out here alone anyways?" She quizzed him, eyebrow quirking as she again reclined to her haunches, tail tucked under herself.

When the other creature suddenly got up and turned, the tail being pulled out from under him also pulled his feet out from under him, causing him to stumble some. He caught his balance before looking up to the red animal glaring down at him. "Pfft... what a stupid question. What does it look like I'm doing?! I'm pouncing onto my prey!" He exclaimed, proudly puffing out his chest.
When she started mentioning that he was lucky he was a cub and so on, he rolled his eyes, tail flicking behind him. "Yeah yeah, whatever. I can take care of myself. I'm a strong lion, everything is afraid of me." He said. With that, he lifted up a paw and unsheathed his claws. "See these, they're razor sharp! And I have my sharp pointy teeth... like these... see." He mumbled a bit as he tried to talk while snarling and exposing his tiny teeth to the hyena.

Awendela burst into laughter at the cub. She was amused that he was so tough, for a creature so small. If that was how he was going to be, there was no point in trying to lecture. Some bigger, meaner creature would teach this little guy his lesson some day, and after all, Dela was one for acting tough herself, so she empathized. "Well aren't you a little fireball?" The red-furred female chuckled, flicking her ears, lifting a brow as the lion cub unsheathed his claws. The hyena knew her own claws were bigger, of course, but she would leave that unsaid, so as not to disrupt his performance. She giggled again quietly and shook her head a little, shifting her weight as she sat, watching him.
"So you would tell me then that you have run away from your mother, and you are out to see the big wide world all on your own, huh?" She inquired, huffing at him as he showed his tiny teeth.

When the odd creature started laughing at him, he glared hard at her. "I don't see anything funny about this! If I wanted, I could rip your tummy out!" He exclaimed puffing his chest out with a small snort. He nodded his head as if he made his point clear, especially when she called him a fireball. "Of course. I'm going to be the greatest warrior in the pride when I grow up. Perhaps you might witness my awesomeness?!"
At mention of his mother, his ears momentarily folded back and he took a brief scan of their surroundings. Good, there was no sign of the spotted lioness he called 'Mom', by what he could tell really. Little did he know that she had been following him this whole time and was watching at a distance. Being certain that he had still lost his mother, Tihhooske returned his attention to the larger being in front of him. "Why wouldn't I be? I can't become a great warrior if I don't experience what's out here."

"If I wanted, I could have you torn to pieces before you could bare your teeth, tiny lion. But I won't, of course." The hyena female warned. She wasn't seriously going to hurt this cub, but young ones should know their place, and someone had to instill fear in children for them to learn about the outside world. Dela caught a faint scent of another feline, she assumed it to be kin belonging to the cub, which confirmed her lack of desire to harm him or mess with him at all. Perhaps if it was kin of his, should would allow them to 'come to his rescue'. Dela didn't like playing the bad guy, but she wasn't fond of cocky young ones, either. She scoffed at him.
"A great warrior needs to learn many things from his parents, also, you know." She responded to him, flicking her tail in a slight annoyance.

The little cub gave the odd creature a look of disbelief at her claim of being able to tear him apart before he could even bare his teeth. As if! He thought to himself. He was oblivious of his mother hiding in the bushes, watching him. If he knew, he would have complained, telling her something about warriors not needing a parental escort. In turn, the comment that was just told to him made him scoff. "The only thing I would need to learn would be from my father and since he wasn't around when I was born, I don't need to learn a thing!" He replied, pawing at the hyena's flicking tail.
