Swff, swff, swff...Sweeping the grounds clean for the ump-teenth time today. How can such a small walkway never stay clean? I swear, it must be some kind of conspiracy... Finished with my chores for the moment, I swiftly replaced the broom next to the shrine's entrance. No use putting it away when I'll just be using it again soon. I couldn't help but let a sigh escape my lips... My duty is never done.
ENTER REIMU HAKUREI
~SHRINE MAIDEN OF PARADISE~
Hi there. My name's Reimu. Reimu Hakurei, though if you've lived in Gensokyo for any amount of time, you'd know that by now. Not only am I the sole protector of the Great Border separating the outside world from Gensokyo, but I am also the inventor of the Spell Card System, a set of rules and guidelines designed specifically to give humans a fighting chance against their much more powerful Youkai brethren. Not that I needed it, of course, but it sure makes my job a lot easier as it allows humans and Youkai to settle their disputes without intervention or supervision from myself. Today has began like any other, tending to the Hakurei Shrine's few, yet tedious needs. Why was I left to overlook the shrine by myself? I need a sister. ... ...On second thought, everyone who visits the shrine just makes a mess anyway, so never mind. I sipped my tea quietly, while sitting at the edge of my shrine's entrance. A wind blew gently, sending more dirt across the pathway. Annoyance flared to my head, but I ignored it for the moment; I was on break, anyway. I need a servant. ((NEW WRITING STYLE GET! Trying out a first-person perspective for now xD We'll see how this turns out~))

At long last, a long lost figure made its way up the stairs to the shrine. Her sandals made the smallest noise as they touched upon the cement of the stairs. Shoulders squared, fists closed, she made her way to the top in her decisive way with a deep and determined frown. Finally she stepped onto the arch that announced the Hakurei Shrine. "HAKUREI REIMU." A dramatic pause as her hand moved to the hilt of her katana, slowly drawing it. The sun glistened off the flawless blade," I have returned for the Hakurej Power!"
Enter Meira
~Rinon Samurai
The blade was moved to the side ligthly tracing a arc infront of the samurai, just as slowly moving her foot behind her, and her other hand found the hilt of the sword. Meira stood in the classic defensive yet offensive pose of all samurai,"I have come to take your power after all this time."
This was a way to ruin the silence and nice tea cup.

"...Ehh?"
What a curious woman this was, though I can't help but feel I've seen her before. Having no choice but to greet my "guest", I set my tea cup down and stood up, brushing away the wrinkles in my skirt.
"Well, it took you long enough!" I feigned intelligence. "Don't you know how long I've been waiting for you to come for me? All those lonely, sleepless nights..." I clasped my hands together and pressed them against my chest in a very dramatic pose. Hey, I might as well have some fun with this weirdo. "But now that you're here," I forced a gasp, stepping down from the shrine - I wonder if I could force myself to blush? "everything will be alright now~ But, there's one thing..."
Turning away, I pretended to hold back tears with a hand held to my face, while my other hand withdrew a series of Persuasion Needles from my sleeve. "...Who the hell are you?" Now facing the woman again, I brandished the glowing needles, one between each finger of my hand. If she was looking for a fight, I certainly wouldn't back down.

The samurai raised an eyebrow at the miko, "What are y-" She blushed furiously as Reimu walked to her, letting lose that speech of hers. Meira's eyebrow twitch, as did her eye. She should have known the miko would do something like this. She was already a weirdo when she was younger and had that old turtle by her.
To distracted and taken aback by this turn of events, Meira could only mutter,"One thing-?"
"GAAH-" She jumped back as the needles came out, quickly moving the blade to the previous stance, the blush still sligthly there."I am the Samurai Meira, and I have come for the power of Hakurei!"
The last part was a reminder to herself more than anything. "Your pitiful needles and stick with paper do not intimidate me! This time I will suceed!" Once more fully composed, her brows knitter together, before going through the speech she had gone through so many times while training under waterfalls and on cliffs barefoot.
"Long ago I failed in such task! Such action was unforgivable, but not unbelievable. I was young, and lacked proper training and discipline I have not beaten into myself. The power of Hakurei will help me prove that humans can be as strong as youkai, and bring a further understanding and equality to the mind of youkai. I will be witness of how humans can be twice as strong as youkai with proper training." She swiped the air once with her blade making no noise,"You spend days laziing around, inhibiting the true potential of the Hakurei! I have spent time barefoot climbing Youkai Mountian, under the ground walking with nothing but the bare essentials past the red hot stones of Former Hell, I have trecked deep within the Bamboo Forest of the lost sharpening my sense of direction, I have lived in the darkness of the forest of magic heigthening my senses, and below the crystalline waters of the Misty Lake, training in how to out do the defiance of an element far stronger than me. I have worked twice as much as you ever have, and so, I am ready to wield the hakurei power and light the way for humans to stand and prove their power to the youkai." She swiped the blade once more," I, Samurai Meira, Will take the Hakurei Power, and use it avidly to lead the humans into a safer, fearless future!"

While the swordswoman continued her speech, I had decided to sit back down, and took another sip of tea. Boy, she sure was long-winded. Wait, what did she say her name was? Meira? Hmm...
"Wow, you must need a shower after all that!" I jested, holding the teacup in my hands. However, knowing full well the intensity of the situation, I let out a sigh. "Listen, Meira, I'm flattered that you think so highly of the Hakurei bloodline, but I can't just give my power away - I was born with it. It doesn't matter how much you've trained your body, mind and spirit, you can't use the power of the Hakurei clan unless you were born a Hakurei. Now, maybe if we had a child..." I took another sip from the teacup; it was starting to grow cold. "And besides, I've combated many goddesses and powerful youkai over the years, all of whom reside within Gensokyo. What makes you think you'll do any better, hm, miss samurai? And in case you haven't noticed, I've grown quiet a bit, too." This woman is really starting to bug me now...her name, her appearance...it's all familiar, but I just can't remember. I need to start paying more attention to things.
"So, now that that's all taken care of," With a motion of my hand, a Yin Yang orb floated into view, having come from within the shrine. I tapped the top of it with my fingertip, causing the orb to split in half horizontally and pop open, as if on a hinge, revealing a row of Onigiri inside. "Care to join me for lunch?"

"I did say I spent time in and by the rivers, I showered in their waters!" a disdainful gasp as the samurai's hygiene was questioned. Her shoulders slumped a bit as she was told her hard work was for naught. Once more she blushed at Reimu's comment,"How awful! To bring a child to the world to use them! " Though her blush remained through that.
"Oh, you've grown quiet?" She grumbled,"i couldn't tell."
When Reimu brought out the orb, she tensed bringing the blade back up, but when it shattered open she couldn't believe her eyes. Figuring she was hungry as her stomach grumbled, she shoulders finished slumping.
" Yes please ..."

Nothing like the wind in my hair, is there. I feel so free up here. I am grateful to my eagle for letting me fly on its back. I've decided to take a trip to Reimu's shrine just to visit her before I go to the former hell about the evil spirits that are coming out of the geysers and putting people and youkai in danger. Enter Kasen Ibara
~The One-Armed Hermit~ I think I'm coming over it now. I jump off my eagle and descend to the ground. I land on my feet, but with a loud thud sound. I look up from the ground to see Reimu and a samurai about to have lunch. The samurai I have never seen before, actually. Perhaps she was an old friend of Reimu's, maybe even the Hkurei clan? I dust myself off and begin to walk over to them. Hello, Reimu. It's been a while, hasn't it?" I ask her as I make my way to the Hakurei Shrine. I get a cloer look at the samurai as I approach, but that doesn't help me very much. "Who's this samurai? I've never seen her before?" I ask Reimu again, while also subtly hinting at the samurai for her name.

'Well, this is interesting' Itachi thought to herself, clutching a bag filled with dirt, twigs, and dead leaves. She had spent most the day spreading the contents of the bag across the shirne grounds whenever the shrine maiden had turned her head. This new developement however proved much more entertaining. She convered her mouth as she let out small snickers, finding the whole scene to be all too enjoyable. 'What? Its not over already? I was hoping for blood.' She let out a sigh and droped the bag she was holding. 'I guess I am going to have to get involved to steer this little play back on track'. On that note the kamaitachi leaped from her hiding spot, twirling and fliping the air just to make the whole thing more flashy. Enter Itachi
~The Noisy Ninja The bell she wore rang once to announce her jump, and again when she made a dynamic pose upon her landing. Keeping the stance for a good two seconds, so onlookers can get a good look, she suddenly pointed an accusing finger Reimu. "Noble samurai! Don't tell me you are going to be taken in by the lies of this greedy witch!? She just wants to keep the Hakurei power for herself so she can maintain her lazy life style. No way to transfer the power of the hakurei? bah!" Itachi relaxed her pose and began stroking her chin as if thinking. "Why there is lots of ways. Like youkai and demons often eat the hearts of powerful humans to gain their power. And eating their brain supposed to make you smarter too. Hehe, but I understand if noble samurai is not hungry for such things. There is a gentler approach..." Itachi took a sly look at Meira "Lets just say there is a reason these Miko are supposed to be maidens"Itachi suddenly noticed the Hermit who arrived. She felt a tinge of annoyance that Kasen had a cooler entrance then she did. "Noble samurai, you should kill her too, she's probaly evil also! Better safe then sorry and all that."

((OH GAWD WHAT HAVE I STARTED?! @ @;; ))
Just as I was about to give Meira her share of the Onigiri, two more figures appeared. One, I didn't recognize, but the other was none other than Kasen Ibara, an old hermit that comes to visit every so often. I'll admit I was less than pleased with their appearance...
"Ah...Kasen. Yes, I suppose it has." I went to take a sip of my tea, only to remember I had emptied it the drink before... Such a bother. "Oh, her? Her name's Mina...or something. She wants me to have her children!" I think that was what she wanted...right? Wait, now what's this other girl saying? I took a bite from an Onigiri from the Yin Yang orb still floating beside me, while listening to this other girl go on. "Greedy witch? You must mistake me for that black-white. I guess you haven't eaten too many brains then, have you miss ninja?"
Great, now she was trying to instigate Meira to attack Kasen as well? What's with this girl? I pressed my hands to either side of my cheeks, while taking care to hold the Onigiri outward with two extended fingers. "Oh, please don't fight over me~ I've already promised myself to this Samurai, you see~"

I smiled at the samurai and bowed to her. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Mina. I'm Kasen Ibara. I am but a simple Pilgrim." I said to her, and as Reimu told me about why she was there I became confused. I looked at Mina and asked her, "You want her... to bear your children...?" I'm flabbergasted by this, but still try to keep some composure. "Well then, that'll be something to explain to people." I say, still wondering if Reimu was serious or not.
This ninja that arrived told Mina that she should kill Reimu and me. Why on earth... Perhaps a trouble maker. "No need to point fingers." I say to her. "There's no point in trying to defeat Reimu, she'll just defeat you and her if you try." I then sighed as I rememberd when I tried to "help" Reimu becaome a proper shrine maiden a while ago. "She's one tough nut to crack..." I sigh. Why did I even bother going through all the trouble to train Reimu in the first place?
I then look at the ninja as I continue. "What are you anyway? Are you one of those troublesome fairies or something?" I asked her. I had never seen her before, and I wanted to figure out who she was.

Meira was about to take the onigiri, eager at the prospect of food. She was interrupted by Kasen Landing not far from her, earning her sword pointed at the hermit. She relaxed as She asked for her name,"I am the Samurai M-" Reimu answered. MINA? What kind of name was that?
"No... I am Me-" Once mlre interrupted by Kasen, then Reimu talks about children once more." Wait, what? What are you talking about-?! That is insane- How would that even work?"
The ninja appears! With... Weird ideas."Eating human flesh can turn the attacker into a youkai, something which I deny." What was the latter part about "maiden"? "Wh-what are you suggesting?! I am a woman, that Idea is outrageous!"
Meira pondered on it, sighing,"I may go about my plan another day... All those ideas of yours are repulsive. I much rather eat now, I haven't had a meal in a long time." She sheated her sword desicively.

"Did I say 'witch'? As in starting with a 'w'? Must have been a slip of the tongue, my apoligoes." The kamaitachi gave a grin from behind her mask, though a twitch of the eye was a tell that the miko's words seem to stike a nerve. What ever annoyance she felt with the miko left as soon as she heard the hermits words. "D-did you just ask if I was a fairy?" She stood stiff, not moving for a second, before suddenly seeming to panic. " WHAT!? I'm not that short am I!? Wait does she think I'm in line with those three annoying sisters that hang around here, or maybe even that idiot at the lake..." Itachi continued mumbling to herself before suddenly seeming to regain her composure. Standing with her back straight in another pose, she responded to Kasen "For your information, I am a kamaitachi. Wait, scratch that, I am the kamaitachi."
Itachi stood looking smug for no reason when Meira's words reached her ears. "H-hey noble samurai don't be so hasty. I'm sure eating can wait another day, but the humans need that safer tommorrow stuff today. Or you can satisfy your hunger and get the power in one go. Sure, it turns you into a youkai, but you got to leave your humanty behind to gain power equal to youkai, just ask any magician or celestial. Heck I'm sure even that hermit could tell you. and I heard human heart goes great with teriyaki and green onions. Come on..." Itachi let out a sigh as the sword was placed back in its sheath. ' No blood today...though there may be a chance for love...' Itachi raised her arms in a shrug, as if admtting defeat. " Oh well, what do I know? Here I am trying to push you to violence when clearly you have you own plan of action for obtaining the hakurei power." She gave the samurai a wink then mocked her voice "What are you suggesting!? That idea is outrageous!" She then turned to Reimu "And you sly miko, knowing the fastest way to a man's...er, woman's heart is through her stomach."

"Good, eat." Reimu said with a mouthful of her own Onigiri while offering another to Meira. She swallowed before continuing with, "We can save the fun stuff for later."
Still unmoving from her seat at the front of the shrine, Reimu couldn't help but gaze upon Itachi with a bored stare... Or rather, the usual stare she gave nearly everyone. "You are rather small...you would make a good fairy, miss ninja. You have the brain for one, anyway." She took another onigiri from the Yin Yang orb - just how many did she stuff in there? "And what's with the mask? - om, nom nom - You shick or shomething? Doh't get any closher, - glp - I don't want our children getting sick because of you!"
Again, the ninja was playing up the theatrics. She might even be better than Reimu was. Confused, Reimu tilted her head. "What? I don't want her heart. I thought she wanted to eat mine? ...Does human heart really taste good with teriyaki and green onions?"

Kasen giggles as the ninja tried to persuade Meira to kill Reimu, which she didn't even want to at the moment, and when Reimu made the joke about the ninja being a good fairy. "There's no need to try and make her do something she doesn't want to, ninja girl. And by the way," Kasen said, "What's your name? I don't believe you gave it to us." She may have given it to the group already, but she didn't remember. She hadn't seen this girl in Gensokyo during her time there.
She then looked at Reimu as she made another joke about the children that her and Meira were going to have. She smiled. "I'm sure with the right ingredients, you'll never be able to tell that you're eating human heart." Kasen that gave a sneaky look to Reimu. "You don't want her heart because you already have it, Hakurei. And who's the godmother going to be? I don't think you should go with Marisa. She may be able to take it seriously, but not likely." She said to the shrine maiden.

"... Stop mocking me kid."She put a hand on her sheath,"Whatever you mean by that, I am sure none of my plans can match one f the ones in your twisted mind."
The samurai had turned away from the conflict to stuff some onigiri in her mouth. She was already nibbling at her third piece when Kasen's comment made her choke on her bite. She coughed pounding at her chest as she tried to clear her airway. What was it with this hermit? Encouraging Reimu like that?!
"God mother? What are you talking about- ?!" She said between coughs,"Who said I had complied to this? I am woman, the mere idea is disgusting and repulsive- Why? I still have my heart don't I? If i didn't I'd be dead!... Right..?"
Meira was completly lost at this point.
