She had heard of the man, seen the man, yet failed to introduce herself properly prior to this. Yeah, she just sucked a little like that. He was a fellow moon division member, a higher ranking one at that. You would think Ceres would have went to visit him previously, especially if she wanted training and or to learn anything about her division. Granted she had been stuck in that pod for a few months so that put a damper on any plans she had, but at the same time she couldn't use that as a handicap. Mostly because she had yet to actually tell anyone, minus candace whom was the person whom found her, that she had been stuck in one of those things for months. She hated feeling like a failure, so that was why she was seeking out help for training. She needed to gather skills, and she had a suspicion Marcus might be willing to help her. Opening her phone she scanned the list and fired a message at the man. istoleyusvamps Marcus, would you be up for training at all today? If so meet me on the fields? -Ceres She knew the name would probably not ring that loud of a bell for him, but found it polite to at least mention who it was texting him.

He smiled at the text, happy that someone had reached out before he'd hunted them down. Better to take initiative than be idle after all. Stretching out he set to texting a reply. Quote: Easy enough. I'll be their soon enough. Slipping on his coat, the moon trainee, rolled his eyes as Dis did the usual jab at his ability to kill other trainees. He'd been doing rather well in that regard. The humidity made him grumble, wishing they could have a good dry heat for once. The moon coat in the distance found, he went over nodded. "Miss Ceres?" Dis was slung over his shoulder, ready for a fight.

Moon coat on, she had decided to leave the detachable sleeves at home today. It was way too hot to be adding on extra clothing so the fact her coat could go sleeveless was a blessing in disguise. She wore a simple black tank top and blue jean shorts under the coat, along with a pair of running shoes. Minimalistic in appearance but cool enough to make sure she did not over heat in her own skin.
Turning around as she was addressed, she found herself looking up as the new figure in another moon coat arrived. "Please don't call me Miss... makes me feel old." She was only 20 after all, that was not old JUST yet. That was when she noticed that he has a sword slung over his shoulder, and she felt herself relax just a little.
"Thank god, your a sword user too." She felt a slight tug in her mind as she summoned her own sword, Takeru, and held it off to her side. Last time she sparred with someone it was with Bix, a ranged attack person. Needless to say it did not end well, she still felt the bruising on her stomach from then. Now healed mostly though it was still a slight reminder of that failure.

He shrugged and smiled. "It's formality. I could call you Ceres but that's a bit too informal for just meeting." She was dressed lightly in comparison to his slacks and sleeved shirt. Habit he'd not given up, even with the humidity.
The comment about swords made him laugh. The summon of he weapon her could understand why though."Yeah, there are actually quite a few sword users but not that many with curved blades, which are a much different set of skills that straight bladed weapon."
I like that sword. It's nice a curved. Which reminds me, I need a polishing.

Not arguing with the weapon, Marcus nodded, "Nice to meet you too Ceres. As you're also moon division, has anyone taken time to go over the basics of defending, as well as some of our duties here and in the field? We can talk about it while we spar if you like." He set the scimitar in the ground in front of him leaning on it slightly. "Up to you."

Not every day you see another curved blade.
I agree, Keru, which is why im suddenly glad i asked him here.
Dont get me messy, ghoul. LAST time you got dirt and grime all over me and then didn't clean it until a day later.
I was out cold, kind of HARD to clean when your that way you know.
Excuses will teach you nothing.
And Ceres went back to ignoring Takeru, something she had become better and better at recently.
Settling the blade down on the earth helped her deal with its weight. It grew uncomfortable if she held it single handedly for too long, even though it was meant to be wielded that way. "No one had really briefed me on anything formally, though i am correct in assuming we run defensive operations?" She remembered hearing it somewhere...
"Though i agree." She mentioned a moment before raising her weapon, and tapping him lightly on his arm with the dull side of the blade. Actions and talking sounded good.
She backed away from the swordsman a few paces.

If Dis had had he'd polish Takeru's Blade any day
He sighed. The usual, he'd been ready for it. Hopefully, at some point, people would be able to get paired with someone from their own division will to give a run down. Letting them run around mindlessly.. ended poorly. More often than not.
"Yes, we run the majority of defense on and off island. We're also the more... tempered healers. Not prone to experimenting like life hunters." At the tap, a small crack of FEAR and he pulled up his sword. "Other question which I assume to be a no, but you've never used a curved sword before have you?" He dashed forward, purposely striking blade to blade. "Do you know how to use the sword's own curve to your advantage?"

Takeru would have promptly said nothanks and to shove it.
"Well then i guess that explains why i was put in this division." She said jumping back originally as he started for her, Continuing to talk but also trying to dodge. "I was two years into my medical degree before becoming a hunter." Aka, girl knew first aid.
Still backing away she pulled out the sword to meet his, the clang resulting causing her head to scream at her. There was a crack in her fear shield from the impact. "I have only used this sword a few times in battle, and my knowledge is limited to that."
Straining her arm muscles she pushed back against the other blade with her own cracked one, trying to push him away.

Marcus was impressed. Two years was more than he had, and it was probably more than others had as well. Pushed back, he smiled. Her response had a bite to it. Disengaging, he looked at her position, seeking an opening.
"The curve of the blade is useful for not only cutting smoothly, it helps to guide another weapon from our bodies. If done right, we can redirect where a blow might land if it lands at all. It's also useful to defending and sending attacks away from us."
He reengaged, blade coming down to stop short, showing the way it could use the curve to cut along her arm. "A smooth cut rather than a hacking motion."

"So our blades are meant more for clean cutting rather than just hacking away aimlessly." She said watching as he brought the blade close to her arm, she watched it hesitantly. She didn't think he would press harder, but still she moved out of its way a moment later.
"What about Takeru here?" She listed the blade, showing how it was fractured in some places. "Does thais change matters?" Making a quick swipe at Marcus she watched as he used the curved end to move the attack to the side, dodging it easily.
"Could the curve also be used to draw someone closer?"

"As I was told, anyone can hack away and play at butcher, but if you want to be a swordsman, you've got to be an artist." He laughed at himself. "To be fair, the guy was a bit loopy." He looked at the fractures before parrying her attack.
"Hard to say. It looks damaged so you might need to talk to the Life hunters about that. If you use them to catch other blades, you risk it snapping your blade in half." Dis gave him a mental shudder at that.
"But yes, using the blade to draw someone closer is good, because you can on occasion use your fist to take someone by surprise."

"Hmmmm that sort of sounds like something a serial killer would say, actually." She said back at him with a hint of concern. But she shrugged it off. "Then again look what we do for a living" Were they the monsters hiding under the beds of the halloween populace?
No...not monsters. Destroyers.
"He came to me like this, already damaged and cracked. The superiors did not really say anything about getting him fixed though... maybe i should go to the labs and inquire. Just in case." Takeru did not like the idea of breaking, just about as much as dis had.
Though it seemed they had continued conversation and stopped fighting, hmm.
((Or the dice just hate us XD))

He didn't think of them as serial killers. They were protectors of the human race, prone to human anger and wrath like everyone else. "I prefer to think that we protect humanity. After the events with the horsemen, we're sort of like guardians in a way." It was a nice thought in his opinion.
The crack got another glance, as marcus brought up his own sword for inspection. "It could be nothing, it could be serious. A hunter had her weapons crack on her when we were training and it wasn't something that sounded good. Check it out and see what they say. Better safe than sorry right?"
He smirked, going at her again, scimitar aimed for her legs.

"I actually had the uhm.. i dont know if i should call it pleasure , maybe luck is a better term, to miss whatever happened with the horsemen." Should she tell him about being stuck in a pod? It took her a while before she told Bix anything, but this man was her superior in the moon division...
Did he maybe already know?
As far as she knew only Candace, bix, and weird crazy drunk lab man knew.
"Bix mentioned some of it to me... insanity, a phoenix, and what happened to julie. Besides that well, i dont know much."
She was taken off guard, lost somewhat in the conversation as he got the hit in on her legs. She hissed out some but managed to get a hit back in too, awkwardly aiming for his right arm with her blade.

She missed the horsemen, and he nodded silently. "Let's just say we won, but it ended on a sour note." Going nuts for a while had been no fun whatsoever. especially when it hurt the ones he loved. "If you want a run down, you can probably look at the mission reports, as well ask around. There was... a lot that happened. Not much of it was good."
Wincing at the hit to his arm, he brought the blade back around., trying to get around her own. "Use the smaller curve at the end for quicker deflections, though it's a bit harder, and there is less chance to send the weapon away, it's still something to learn."

"I figured some first hand knowledge would be useful, but i might end up reading those resports and keeping my mouth shut." It seemed the horsemen missions were a sour note, Marcus was not the only one she had spoken with that had seemed bitter, even upset, by the events that occurred just a month of so ago. "It sounds like it was rough."
Attempting the other mans advice she tried to use the tip of her blade to deflect the attack, only semi successfully. It was a lot harder than it looked and she ended up taking some of the attack he was dealing at her. She winced next, missing her own opportunity for any return hit. "Harder than it looks."
