North Star and Eating Fireflies had a recent fling that resulted in some vaguely wicked-looking, edited offspring -- so Samuel Carlin and I decided to spread the love around via a good, old-fashioned Naming Dream contest! In order to participate in the contest, you simply must provide a name, which must relate to 'night' in some way, a short one-sentence personality blurb, and then the naming dream, created in any way you like. We're offering only the two light-colored bucks up in this contest; the rest of the batch [dimmed] already have owners -- and, in some cases, names and naming dreams! You can enter once per buck, or twice with names/personalities that you think work for either. As a final note before the all important form, we'd like to note that our hope is to give one of these two boys away to someone who has no edited kin, though we may end up being a bit flexible in this. As such, there's an additional form that asks how many edited kin you have. Buck Name: Through the Night Personality: He's a whimsical, albeit arrogant star-gazer, wondering if the lights above will ever be as stunning as himself; agile, fast, possessing a love of running without destination. Edited Kin: Two if the gem counts, just won Doe 5. Naming Dream: It was less like falling through the night sky and more like being welcomed through it; he was different, bright and gilded, but no more beautiful than the darkness he belonged in.

Personality: Think 'workaholic' type. He would be the kind that, when given a task, would obsess over it until completed. An incredible perfectionist, even though this would probably get in the way of completing things, since his super meticulous nature would dampen his ability to be productive.

Personality: Flighty, fickle and half-way narcissistic, Fly by Night would be an untrustworthy buck you wouldn't want to put very much faith in. However, he has a somewhat alluring charm to him, but due to his volatile nature, he'd probably leave anyone in the dust once they lost their 'value' to him.

This entry is for the White Buck! Buck Name: Nightblind Personality: Likes to think of himself as a villainous character, but the effort falls a bit flat. His so-called schemes rarely pan out, and his tendency to monologue often does more harm than good. He can be surprising gallant in the presence of a "lady," though he might try to kidnap her for reputation's sake. Edited Kin: Two. Wan has horn edits and some eye glow going on, and Prelude is a glowy-eyed gal. Naming Dream: There are creatures moving out in the darkness, unearthly shapes that seem on the verge of coalescing before they scatter. No amount of blinking will bring them into focus, and waiting only seems to deepen the shadows. Yet the betrayal of his eyes feels secondary to the traitorous pulse in his throat. His heart is beating so close to the surface, a hot point of vulnerability beneath the chill of his skin. It beseeches him to move, to flee. Forward or backward, it does not matter. Better to be in the thick of the unseen things than to remain blind to them.

So his family, for now, are the only ones who really hear from him. He's an observer, calm, and uses kind maneuvers. Like a Nebula, he has a soft spot for creation.
