Lets start a guild story!
We'll start off with an opening paragraph. Then whoever has an idea can write the next paragraph and so on.
Lets make this awesome!! Nothing to unrealistic. Please don't create to many characters and don't make then godly. Make it last for a while, like an actual novel.
So whoever would like to start. I hand you the pen!!
Everyone is welcome to jump in at any time!!

Hmmm. I guess I'll try this. I do hope I do it justice, though I'm not so sure. Beginnings are my achilles heel.
It was a dark and dreary day in the busy city of New York. Men and women dressed in their usual neat business suits moved about the streets in their usual robotic way, all looking the same. Only one stood out from the caotic crowd; a young gentleman dressed in a pitch black cloak with a hood that concealed his face. He walked with a strange limp, the cause of which unknown by everyone but him. Arguably, the oddest thing about this man was the fact that he had a little girl riding at his heels. "Where are we going? What are we doing? Did my parents send you? Why are you limping? What's with the weird cloak?" she shot question after question in a long string of chatter, hopping every other step to keep up with the man's impaired stride. The man rolled his eyes in annoyance, having heard the questions a million times ever since he had retreived the girl from her school. "You'll find out soon enough." he said, hoping it would satisfy he child until they reached their destination.
Now, do what you want with it! I'm not really sure where I'm going with this but that's all up to you now! It's all just stuff that popped in my head.

They arrived at the Public Library, but it was closed due to the holidays. The man went up the stairs, however, and stopped at the sight of the guards.
“Good day to you, brother,” they said.
“Same to you,” the dark hooded man responded, and the doors opened to a grand world of knowledge.
The curious child, eager to know where his strange friend was going, repeated her questions along with some new ones, but the man kept walking. He went up and down, right and left, and in zigzags and circles until finally arriving at the destination.
“We’re here,” he said, pulling down his hood for a moment. He crouched down and faced the girl. “Now listen. Once we go through this wall, you will refer to me as Suspense, okay?”
“Are we going undercover?!” The man shushes her, and then she whispers. “What's my codename then?”
“You will get one soon enough,” he put back his hood and both went through the hidden threshold.
********************************************************
I guess a little explanation is in order before the following member continues. I chose to name the man Suspense, because literary themes are the aliases for the members of this secret society/organization/club that may or may not give birth to our guild. I thought about the top members being named after a genre and their leader as "The Writer", but I'm just going to leave those ideas as suggestions for the next member that will continue the story. I look forward to the continuation.

They entered a small room with walls made of bookshelves carrying countless books of all genres. A few hooded figures stood in the middle of the secret room, speaking quietly to one another. They all fell silent as Suspense and the little girl walked through the threshold. One stepped forward, lowering his hood to reveal a scarred face with pinched features and a sallow complexion.
"Good, Suspense, you've brought the girl. Fantasy will be pleased."
"Thank you, Pain. Where is Fantasy?" Suspense asked, looking around at the small group.
"Just beyond this bookshelf," Pain said, leading Suspense and the child to the back of the room. He pulled from it a black book with no title on its spine, triggering a mechanism that swung the bookshelf forward like a door. Pain gestured for Suspense and the girl to go through.
The two passed the scarred man, entering another room, smaller than the one they had been in previously. Unlike the first room, the walls were made of solid concrete without a book in sight. A plain metal desk carrying a single lamp and multiple stacks of paper occupied the middle portion of the room. Behind the desk sat a woman with long golden hair that hid her face, scribbling away at a piece of paper. Only when the bookshelf door closed behind the newcomers did she look up from her work. The girl gasped at the young woman's flawless features, her glowing complexion, her sparkling blue eyes.
"You look like a princess!" the young one said in awe.
The woman chuckled, amused by the child's comment. "Thank you," she said in a melodic voice.
"What happened to your old office, Fantasy?" Suspense asked, his eyes wandering about the place. "I remember it being a bit more... whimsical."
The man looked at the young woman with an amused smile on his lips. Had he not been friends with Fantasy, he would have been reprimanded for how he was treating his superior. However, they had been friends for years. In fact, she was the one that had brought him here in the first place.
Fantasy sighed and said, "The Writer did not exactly approve of my office when he came to visit, so it is to stay like this until farther notice. Now, I see you've completed your mission. Well done, Suspense." She placed her head in her palms and looked over the little girl. "What to call you, what to call you? A new name is required of course. How about Innocence? Do you like that?" When the child nodded, Fantasy flashed a kind smile and continued, "Then we shall call you Innocence."
Innocence beamed at her new identity.
Eh, sorry this was kind of a long post. I just got a lot of ideas for what could happen next so this post was a result.

"Its time Innocence." her mentor practically tore her away from her book. "You should be collecting," he sighed at her, "Not reading." "My apologies Suspense." she smiled ever so sarcastically as she closed the book. "Get your robes on. Today, you get initiated." "Already?" Her true name long since forgotten, Innocence came to the Writers Guild five years past. That time seemed to have disappeared. She spent most of her time learning the ways of writing and story delving. However, Innocence preferred to read stories then save them. "Yes. Now hurry, you don't want to make Fantasy mad." "Yes Suspense." More than once Innocence faced the wrath of Fantasy, by now she knew what lines to cross and what ones to stay paragraphs away from. Suspense left her to get ready on her own. Her robes, which she was not allowed to don until her initiation ceremony, reflected her name. Pure white, like snow, and made of silk. It was soft and light. Her hood seemed a little to big, but then again it did match the name Innocence. She waited in her room for her escorts, who arrived precisely on the dot. Down the candle lit hall, they led her into the inner chamber filled and gave her to Suspense. Robes of all colors, designs, and sizes filled the room. in front of the alter stood Fantasy. Suspense led her down the aisle.. Fantasy was the Sector leader, hence she was in charge of conducting any ceremonies, even weddings. "Suspense. You found this child and brought her here, raised and trained her in the arts of writing and story preserving. What do you say of her skill?" "Her skill to read, write, and interpret surpass even mine, and dare I say my Teacher. I say her skill's can only improve from here. Someday she may even be in charge of her own Sector." "Do you release her from your guidance?" "I do." he steps back into the crowd of robes, releasing her on her own. "Innocence, I proclaim you a member of the Writers Guild. You will forever be loved by your fellow Story Keepers. Although you are no longer being guided by a single member, you will be assisted and asked to assist when needed." She pinned a small metal scroll with a feathered pen onto Innocence's robe. As she pulled her hands away, the crowd erupted into whistles and applause. gaia_angelleft cat_blaugh gaia_angelright Didn't mean to make it that long...whoops. I do apologize for any mistakesIi didn't catch. I seem to be writing whatever my fingers want to type....Oh well. I now pass the pen onto the next writer

Sorry if I'm posting more than I should be but I can't help it. This is fun! -------------------------------------------------------------------------- All the members congratulated the newcomer, shaking her hand and patting her gently on the back, then filing out of the room to return to their work. It was not long until Innocence, Suspense, Fantasy, and a hooded member were the last ones in the room. The hooded one walked over to the newly initiated Innocence. Once he was face to face with her, he pulled down the hood to reveal a young, handsome face with lips curled into a smile. "Congratulations, Innocence." He had always been amused by her name. "You're finally a member." "Yes, Loyalty," she retorted, crossing her arms and returning his smile. "It's official." Loyalty had been initiated only a year before Innocence and was that much older than her. Being the two youngest in the guild, they had formed a fairly strong bond over the years, not unlike the one between Suspense and Fantasy. "What is that boy doing?" Suspense asked, eyeing the two young members from a corner where he stood with Fantasy. "Oh, leave them be, Suspense." Fantasy said, rolling her eyes at her old friend. "They're just having a bit of fun." "Well, I won't have it." The man walked up behind Innocence and said to the boy, "Don't you have work to do?" Loyalty looked to the older member, his cheery smile gone. "Yes, sir, I do." With a small wave goodbye to Innocence, he left the room to do said work. Suspense lowered his gaze to his ex-pupil. "You should run along too." he said. "Keep in mind, this is your day of initiation not your day off." Innocence nodded and exited the room as well, planning to go back to the book she had been reading. Suspense watched her leave, finding it hard to believe she had been ten when he fetched her from her school. She had seemed so much younger and more like her namesake. Detracted by memories from the past five years, Suspense did not notice that Fantasy had joined him at his side. "You're too hard on her." she said. "She is too young to be in this guild." he replied. "She turns sixteen in a few months. We've had younger." Fantasy argued. "Besides, you know why she must be here." A moment of silence passed between the two before she asked, "Have you told her yet?" Suspense hesitated to answer, knowing his superior would not like what he had to say. "I have not yet found it necessary." he said finally, putting his hands behind his back. "It is necessary. You can't keep her in the dark for much longer. She must know why and how her parents were killed." "I'm trying to protect her-" "Nothing can protect her now." Suspense stared at her with a look of worry and fright. "The Writer fears the worst." Fantasy continued, her eyes focused on the floor, a solemn expression occupying her face. "You must tell her the truth tonight. It will make it easier for her to carry out her first assignment which she will be receiving in the morning." "What is her first assignment?" Suspense asked, concerned for Innocence. He wasn't sure if she was ready for something like this. She had only just been initiated after all. Fantasy shook her head. "I don't know. The Writer will present it himself." -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Another long one! Sorry, I really don't mean to do this. I just can't stop typing!

Suspense raised an eyebrow. "The Writer?"
"I know, I know, but it can't be helped. You said it yourself- she's better than you, even." Fantasy lowered her gaze then,a frighteningly uncharacteristic gesture. When Suspense realized the implication of both her manner and her startling revelation on who would be handling his baby cousins first assignment, his blood ran cold.
"But she's not even near being qualified for any kind of field work, let alone..." his voice had been rising, and Fantasy motioned for him to lower it.
"No, it's not that- I'm sure of it.Even The Writer wouldn't be that reckless, even with her blood line. If he needed that kind of support out there, he would have long since summoned you..."
"But I'm not a Darkthorne by blood," he pointed out. "And I may be good, But I'm not a Summoner."
"We still don't know that she is." This seemed to relax Suspense a bit, but not by much.

My explanation biggrin arkthorne is a very powerful family, all inherently strong, and a sort of royalty to the guild. Innocence belongs to this family, and so does Suspense, but only by marriage. In order to write a book, the writer must have some sort of knowledge and imagination. When they write the book some of the 'essence' or 'power' of that knowledge/imagination gets sort of infused into the words themselves.A summoner is able to draw on the power of books without having to read them.A strong one can summon things temporarily from a book- but the item has to be strongly incorporated into the story. A very strong one can even summon the help of the auther of the book.

"Even though," Suspense let his thoughts trail off. He didn't want to think about it. Tonight was a night of celebration. He should be happy, instead he sighed in frustration. "Still your mind Suspense. All will be alright. The Writer will assure her safety until she is of age." Fantasy gave him a smile meant to assure him, instead the despair in the pit of his stomach grew. He nodded then left the room. * * * She sat on her bed reading another book. It was her favorite, even though it was not finished yet Innocence couldn't put War Maiden* down. She re-read it every time there was an update. She didn't quite understand the magic around the book. All she knew was that every non-fiction book whether finished or not showed up in the library. Every time the Author finished a section, it would show up in the book. It was forbidden, of course, to take the unfinished books out of the library. However, since Innocence, like a few others, is a Researcher and Protector. Meaning they could remove any book at any time. She abused this privilege like a fat kid at fat camp abuses dessert night. A knock at the door tore her away from the book. She sat it down on her desk before opening the door. " Loyalty. What brings you to my humble abode." "Well, Innocence, I thought it would be nice if we have our own little party." He held up a bottle and two wine glasses. "Ooh," she snatched the cider from his hand, "I love Sparkling Raspberry Cider. Come on in!" The Research and Protector team members all had rather large bedrooms. Innocence had her bed on the loft along with her deck. On the ground floor was a table filled with books, paper, charcoal, and an assortment of writing utensils. A small icebox nestled into the corner next to a counter. Glasses and plates filled the sink. "Damn Innocence, don't you ever do your dishes." he cringed as he looked around the messy room. "Oh I'm sorry Loyalty. Suspense has me working on a project that takes up all my time. Tonight is the first night in two week I haven't had to work on it. And then there was an update on War Maiden* . . ." she said guiltily. Loyalty laughed. "It's alright Innie, my room is no better." "Don't call me that!" she stomped her foot. Loyalty laughed and dodged a flying pen. He loved how she lost her temper at being called Innie. "I'm sorry Innocence." He held up the glasses and nodded towards the couch. "Shall we?" She sniffed as as she walked passed him and plopped onto the couch. Loyalty sat next to her and poured the Sparkling Cider. "To a long life in the Writers Guild. May we both get the chance to work with the Writer himself and chance to walk the halls of Darkthorne Mannor if even just once." "Here, here!" They clinked their glasses and took a sip. They stayed up into the wee hours of the morning talking and laughing. Not knowing Suspense kept vigil outside the door all night. ([{ So . . . before anyone gets the chance to name The Writer himself, how about we name him Hermes Darkthorne, since Hermes is our guild mule, it seems fitting. I also think it would be cool to add in our members stories into the Guild Story itself.}]) * War Maiden belongs to Girl on Fire 12

Innocence after listening to Suspence pound on it for a few minutes. She looked up at him groggily, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes. "What do you want?" she asked, not particularly glad to see him so early. "It's like, six in the morning." "You need to get cleaned up and ready." he informed her, his face emotionless. "The Writer is giving you your first mission today." "Really?" the girl asked, feeling excited, nervous, and astonished all at once. "But I was only just initiated." "He feels you are ready." Suspence said before stepping inside her little room. Innocence closed the door after allowing him in and started to quickly clean up the mess she and Loyalty had made the night before. As she ran the used dishes under hot water in the sink, Suspence walked around, looking the place over. "Have fun last night, did we?" he asked, glancing over at her. "Huh?" she said, drying her hands with a towel. "Oh yeah, Loyalty came over and we had a little party of our own." She smiled as she went over to her old mentor who had wandered near the couch. He looked at her but did not return the smile. "You want to keep your innocence, don't you?" he asked her. She looked up at him questioningly before giving a slow nod in responce, not entirely sure what he meant. "Then I suggest not having Loyalty over anymore. You have an hour to get ready." With that, Suspence strode over to the door and departed, leaving Innocence to look after him, slightly confused. Why couldn't she have Loyalty over? He was her friend. She enjoyed spending time with him. And what was this with losing her innocence? She shook her head, deciding to dismiss her friend's odd behavior for the time being. Remembering he had said an hour, she entered the bathroom and looked herself over in the mirror. Yikes! She had a serious case of bedhead. The girl looked down at the brush resting on the sink and let a sigh escape her lips. This could take more than an hour. --------------------------------------------------- Sorry this isn't very good but I don't want this to die and I had no ideas really. Therefore, this was the product. Come on people! Post! Please? If you want to chat about the story we have going here or give some ideas, check out the OOC thread we got goin' on.

Innocence brushed her hair out, took a quick shower, and brushed her hair again just to make sure. She dried her hair and pulled it in a low ponytail. Some short hair fell in the front, but she didn't mind.
Knowing her hour was almost up, Innocence quickly found her robe and put it on. She had just enough time to eat a piece of toast before Suspense knocked on the door.
"Ready?" He asked as she opened the door.
"I hope so," Innocence replied brushing some crumbs from her robe. Her nerves came back and suddenly her face felt warm.
"Good, good. I'll take you to Fantasy, and she'll lead you to meet the Writer." Suspense motioned for Innocence to go out the door. She did and he followed, closing the door behind him. "Oh, before I forget. You must wear this." He pulled a necklace out and clipped it around Innocence's neck.
"Thank you," Innocence pulled her hood up examined the necklace. She soon noticed that it was not a necklace, but a silver pen on a chain. She did not question it, for she assumed she would soon find out.
Suspense and Innocence walked in silence to Fantasy's office. "Her she is, Fantasy." Suspense said. He turned to Innocence, "And good luck on your first task." He nodded, turned, and left the room.
Fantasy offered Innocence a seat, and she accepted it. Her nerves were gettning the best of her. She soon felt her palms sweating and legs shaking.
"Don't be so nervous, just relax. It won't be that bad, trust me." Fantasy said holding Innocence's shoulders to calm her.
"But, I'm just scared I'll mess up, and the Writer will get mad. Seriously, does my first mission have to be assigned by the Writer?" Innocence asked.
"Yes, the Writer feels you are ready. I'm sorry you feel scared. The Writer will not get mad if you make a mistake. Besides, I think you'll do fine." Fantasy walked back to her desk.
"Ready? For what?" Just as Innocence asked this, the Writer himself walked in.

His aura set her off balance. Confidence emanated from his grey eyes. Silver hair showed his age and the wisdom that comes with a long and adventurist life. Unlike the rest of the Story Keepers, he wore casual jeans and shirt.
"Innocence." his voice was deep and harsh, yet gentle. "I have been waiting a long time to meet you. I am glad my schedule freed up just after your initiation ceremony. I am the Writer. Leader of the Story Keepers. How are you?"
A small squeak escaped her lips, blush spread across her face in embarrassment.
"It is alright Innocence. I do not bite."
"I-I am fine. How are you?" her knees shook, she was unsure if it was fright or excitement.
"I am fine as well Innocence. How about a seat?"
She took the chair on his right, Fantasy bowed her head and left the room. "Now Innocence. I feel you are ready for a task. It is not a solo task, that you are not ready for. Few are within the first few years of their initiation." Writer pulled a map from a book at his side. "You will be traveling with five other members. Two seniors, three juniors, and another freshmen. As a freshmen you will be expected to follow every command they give you. You will all be working as a team, I guarantee you will not be fetching food or drinks. You will be studying along side the two seniors. Understand?"
Innocence shook her head. Her first mission. Her first real mission. "When do we leave?"
"In two days time. Make sure you pack all the essentials as well as your study books, papers, and pens."
"Who will I be going with and what are we looking for?"
"You will be going with Fantasy and Suspense and Loyalty. On the third day you will be picking up three juniors from another library, you will traveling underground of course. No need to alert the public of our existence. Once there you will spend a day getting to know each other and changing into your surface clothes and persona. Your name will be Neecie, it is pronounced Nee-say. Suspense and Fantasy will tell you theirs upon arrival.
You will be looking for an ancient tome written by our ancestors. Fantasy will have half the map and the sector leader will give her the other half. I expect you all to act nice and be civil."
"I understand Writer. May I ask why I was chosen?"
"It has come to my attention that you may have a special gift that we are in desperate need of. Now I must excuse myself as I have gone past my allotted time."
Innocence quickly stood and bowed her head, "Thank you Writer, for giving me a chance to spread my wings!"
He placed a hand on her shoulder, "Be safe Innocence." he bowed to Fantasy and Suspense as they entered and he left.
"Are you ready Neecie?" Fantasy asked with a grin.
Alrighty! Hopefully we can get this story up and running again. I used the letters in Innocence name to come up with Neecie.
I pass the pen to the next Story Keeper!!

Innocence smiled at the use of her new name, though she was nervous. She nodded. Her palms were coated with sweat, and as she walked to meet Fantasy and Suspense at the doorway of the chamber she wiped her hands on her robes. Fantasy gave her an encouraging smile, noticing Innocence's distress, her blonde hair gleaming in the firelight from torches held aloft on the brick walls. Innocence nodded once more, not knowing how else to respond. She turned to Suspense for support and caught him staring at her, eyes narrowed, lips rolled into a thin line.
Innocence squeaked, and again she wiped her hands on her robes. "Wh-what?" she asked. "Did I do something wrong? Did I say something wrong to the Writer?" She was rambling.
"No," Suspense merely said, and he turned away from her and walked out of the room, pulling his hood up.
Innocence looked down at the ground, beset with guilt she did not understand. She coiled her hands into fists, and swallowed. She felt she had done Suspense wrong, though she didn't know how. Out of the corner of her eye she thought she saw Fantasy scowl in the direction Suspense left, but she quickly shot the idea out of her mind--it was only her anxiety getting to her.
The blonde woman put her slender hand on Innocence's shoulder, and it was cool, sending a shiver down the young girl's spine; Innocence looked up and Fantasy smiled at her, her lips as red as blood.
"Let's go," she said, "I'll walk you to your room. You should rest and begin preparing for the trip."
"But," Innocence began, "what about Suspense?"
Fantasy scoffed, rolling her large, blue eyes. She flicked her bangs with her hand. "Don't worry about him, sweetheart." She tightened her grip on Innocence's shoulder, and begin leading her to the hallway. "Come."
Fantasy slid her hand off of Innocence's shoulder, and the green haired girl could not ignore the strange relief that came with the absence. She shook her head. Both women pulled their hoods up and made their way down the wide, cool hallway silently. The vaulted ceiling was high above them, and stray bats occasionally flapped their wings, preparing to hang upside down. Fantasy's heels clacked against the stone floor, echoing against the walls, while Innocence's moderate leather shoes were silent.
After some time, Innocence glanced to her superior. Fantasy was looking up at the bats above them. The torches made her face glow and her lips even brighter than usual. Her hood covered her eyes.
"Fantasy," Innocence said, and the woman dropped her head and looked to the girl, "do you know anything about the three juniors we will meet?"
Fantasy shrugged dismissively. "Not much. They are talented enough to accompany us"--at this Innocence reddened, feeling gratified--"and are strong, surely. But there is nothing especially spectacular about them." Fantasy's ruby lips quirked and she looked back at the ceiling, her eyes gone once more, her voice deep and smooth and playful and chilling. "Yet, of course, there is always something to be revealed in everyone. Wouldn't you agree, Innocence?"
Innocence found herself looking up at the ceiling, as well. She observed the crisscrossing shadows and the bats hanging down. "Yes," she said.
Fantasy giggled. "Yes, indeed."
---
I'm sorry if this is too long but I really like this!! Especially Fantasy. I was thinking maybe she has some hidden motives? I'm not sure what she's planning, but I thought it would be interesting.
Also, dialogue is not my strong point and I'd love if anyone had some tips on how I could improve. u_u

Two days passed by without a thought. Innocence finished a small restoration project as well as a deep clean of her living space. Nervousness turned to excitement as she packed her travel bag to the brim. Innocence sat on her couch, hugging her bag, and watching the second hand tick away. A firm knock on the door caused her to jump and squeak; she set her bag on the coffee table and ran to the door. "Neecie, are you ready?" Suspense frowned. "Yes! I am ready." Innocence turned back for her bag, locked her door, then followed her mentor to the Great Library. "Neecie, Peter." Fantasy nodded as they entered the room. "Loyalty's new surface persona is Leo. My surface persona is Faith. We will leave through the eastern tunnel in precisely twenty minutes. We will walk four blocks then board a train and spend one night before transferring to another train which will take us the remainder two days to our sister Sector where we will rest for one night then meet our fellow team members and receive our orders. Any questions?" "Do the people on the surface know of these trains?" Loyalty asked. "I mean...it can't be that hard to discover?" "Our trains run deeper than the subways. However, as a precaution we do have some of us stationed above ground to help keep our secret. Mostly cops and senators which keep people from digging to far. Anything else?" Innocence and Loyalty shared a look then shrugged. * * * Innocence and Loyalty walked side-by-side behind their mentors. The walk was silent yet the air was filled with excitement. It took them shorter than Innocence thought to walk four blocks. The grand train station she envisioned wasn't as grand. A small man sat alone inside a shack, sleeping with a newspaper over his chest. Fantasy walked up to the old man, drew her leg back, and kicked the steel wall with all her might. The old man jumped out of his chair and tripped over his feet. Suspense caught and up righted the old man. "Good morning Steve." Suspense smirked. "Peter! You scared the ever livin' daylights outta me!" "Hello Steven," Fantasy smirked, "It was I who kicked the wall." "Faith? No, no, no, no, no. A nice lady like you would never scare an old man like that." he walked way shaking and mumbling to himself. He dug out some keys and opened the door to a rusty train. "Ya'll comin aboard or not?" "We are Steven. Thank you." Fantasy gently pushed Innocence and Loyalty on to the train then boarded after Suspence. Thats all I got for now. Sorry.
