Well, Prom hadn't really gone as Deacon had planned. Though, what exactly he had planned, even he didn't really know. It just seemed like such a waste to get all dressed up for nothing. Out to impress no one. He hadn't even talked to anyone. No one except her.

She'd told him to go find the person he'd wanted to ask to accompany him to Prom? Well, that was a bit difficult for him to do.

Not only had this person left him sitting at the refreshment table as she went off to dance with another boil, as it turned out she had gotten herself a date. That boil, Deacon decided, was someone he'd wanted to try and avoid. A repeat of Scarentine's Day wasn't high on Deacon's agenda.

He'd waited until after the activities had surely come to an end, hoping to give the ghoul enough time to get back to her dorm. He wasn't sure if she'd still be in her dress or not, but he hadn't bothered to change yet. Even the stupid masquerade mask was still on when Deacon lightly knocked upon the door across from his own.

The end of prom had probably been just as disappointing for her as it had been for Deacon. hiding in a cabinet, crying. Xiu and her friend had tried to make it better, but all it really ended up doing was taking the edge off her sadness.

Riyo had actually been in the process of undressing when she heard a knock at the door. "H-hold on." She called out as she tossed the garment onto her bed and put on her night clothes. There was no way she was putting that damn dress back on. No ******** way. She wanted to be comfortable, not have the life squeezed out of her by that damn corset.

Once her red top and pj bottoms were securely on, the door creaked open. She'd forgotten to take care of the handkerchief wrapped around her foot as a makeshift bandage. Oh well. "Hey Deacon. What's up?" She was soft-spoken and obviously tired. Dancing like an idiot and crying your eyes out would do that to a person.

He'd waited in silence once Riyo had called out in response. In the back of his mind, he feared that if he vocalized his own acknowledgement that she would decide better on answering and leave him out in the hall behind a locked door, instead.

When she did open it for him, Deacon made a quick visual sweep of her from head to toe and back again. It wasn't like he was gawking, but the small frown that he couldn't hide showed his disappointment. "Guess you've already settled in..." She did sound tired, looked tired...

Delayed as he was, Deacon's eyes suddenly narrowed behind the mask and his ears tilted back suspiciously. "What happened to your foot?"
PostPosted: Tue Jul 03, 2012 9:06 am

What. He was disappointed? The boil looking her over only made Riyo a little nervous, but the way he said it was like someone kicked a kitten. "Yeah.. It was really uncomfortable." The ghoul tried to explain. "Not like there was much to see anyways..." Which came out as more of a barely audible mumble.

Stepping aside in case her fellow feline wanted in, she sighed and looked down at her foot. "I stepped on glass." Or ran through it. "I'm alright. It doesn't even hurt." Of course that meant she was walking around barefoot at some point in time. "Did you have fun at prom?"

Deacon gave a small grunt of disagreement, stepping over the threshold when she moved aside in apparent invitation. "Mustn't have realized how well it suited you," he commented with a small shrug. "One must suffer for fashion... Or something like that."

He reached up to remove his mask, setting it aside on the nearest reasonable surface. Hooking a finger under the hem of one of his gloves, the tabby stared at his hands for a long moment before deciding against removing them. Surely he could hide his physical imperfections for just a little while longer, no rush in revealing them to her or himself just now.

"I didn't realize you weren't wearing shoes... Or that they were so thin." He tried, wondering just which it was. He struggled to remember, looking toward her in hopes she would elaborate. Instead, she changed the subject. He looked away from her again, at nothing in particular. Just away.

"No. Did you? Didn't you have a date, after all. Unless I'm so Insane as to have read too far into things." It was possible, but doubtful. Time to see if she would continue to deny it. "Figured best we didn't come near... Not with what happened last time."
PostPosted: Tue Jul 03, 2012 9:57 am

"Yeah well fashion can go suck a ********." Riyo immediately retorted. "I don't like feeling so uncomfortable just for the sake of a few compliments." Obviously the ghoul had little to nothing invested in her looks.

"Your outfit does look nice, though." Not like she would've known he'd worn the same thing for last prom. "I'll trade you if you really like the dress that much."

Oh, and now they were back to the shoes... Sighing, The ghoul pulled out her office chair to get off her feet. "Yeah... I was wearing shoes but... I took them off." Riyo didn't want to tell Deacon the reason that she'd removed them was so she could run off and find somewhere to cry. She wanted to try and keep some of her pride in tact.

"I had fun for awhile." Why did he sound so accusatory about her having a 'date'? "I don't know what you'd call it. He certainly didn't ask me with the intent of a date." The ghoul folded her arms on the desk and rested her head on them. Oh... Yeah. How could Riyo have almost forgotten about the s**t that went down at Scarentines? So that's why she didn't see the catboil around after that. "Not like everyone else wasn't threatening to beat the s**t out of each other." Shun primarily came to mind...

"Better to be able to breathe," he said in a form of agreement. He offered a small smile of thanks toward her own compliment, chuckling lightly at the offer of a trade. "No, surely it looks better on you."

Thankfully, he didn't dwell on the shoes. If anything, he figured that the shoes had been just as uncomfortable as the dress, and she had taken them off to rest her feet and stepped on something while barefoot by accident. Considering the shenanigans that more often than not went down, she could have lost her foot and he might not have been all that shocked to hear about it. Deacon sincerely wondered why they still employed gnomes at these events, when it seemed that they were to blame for most of the horrible things that happened.

It actually pleased Deacon to hear that Titus hadn't actually been a date, a flicker of hope still allowed to survive. "Just threatening?" He smirked, shaking his head. "A lot of us just don't mix well, do we?"

He sighed softly, hooking his thumbs in his pockets. He cast her an odd, sideways glance. "You did tell us to do something, just before you went off to dance..."
PostPosted: Tue Jul 03, 2012 7:57 pm

Yeah. Right. She wasn't so sure about that. Deacon in a dress seemed like something that would amuse her to no end.

The ghoul also sighed when the shoes were dropped right on the spot. Thank Jack Deacon wasn't near as curious as she was.

"Well. Shun tried to strangle me, so I guess it wasn't just threatening." Riyo shrugged it off as if it was just some kind of harmless game. "Then Hel attacked me with words. I guess those hurt worse than the choking." Why was he using us and we so much? Was it because of that s**t on his body?

Though the last part caused the ghoul to turn her head to him, still resting on her arms. "I did?" She had, though it took her a few moments to remember. "Oh, yeah. Did you find them?" She guessed not since he hadn't enjoyed prom.

"I see..." Deacon mentally filed away the name of the boil. As far as Hel went, he figured that verbal battles between ghouls was all too common in such a setting. Or at least he always figured that tensions between ghouls would be high... What with them trying to be the best dressed for the occasion and all.

Then she finally looked up to him, and to her question he let himself smile.

"Indeed. We found you."
PostPosted: Wed Jul 04, 2012 4:39 pm

... Oh.

Oh!

He uh... He'd been talking about her.

Riyo tried to hide the fact that she was surprised. It should've been obvious, thinking back. Deacon didn't have that many friends either. Though she supposed that manticore chick could've been an- No. No, she'd been manning the music booth.

Uh... Huh.

"Yeah. You found me." What else was she supposed to say? The party was over. She was out of her fancy pants clothes on top of being broken, emotional, and tired.

"So what now?"

Deacon shrugged lightly, whilst silently removing his gloves at last. He laid them with his mask, shrugging out of his jacket.

"A dance, perhaps. Sure, we may no longer have the dance floor, officially, but what is there to stop us?" As he spoke, it was like a repeat of the night he'd first revealed the marks of Insanity. Though by this time, the imperfections had advanced drastically...

"We're even. Now you're not the only one dressed down."
PostPosted: Wed Jul 04, 2012 6:03 pm

A dance? Really? Riyo was half-tempted to say no with as tired as she was, but...

Maybe if she humored him, there would at least be one person who wasn't disappointed in her.

"Well, maybe a lack of music." The ghoul joked, propping her head up with her hand as she raised an eyebrow. Of course she was only kidding. There was a record player sitting plain as day on her dresser.

Riyo let out a soft sigh as she shoved away from the desk and stood once again. The bottom shelf of her bookcase was where the records lived. "Most of what I have is just classical music. I guess I'm kinda boring in that respect." At least she figured a lot of the people her age would think so. "You pick. I'm no DJ."

She mentioned music, and he gave her a mildly defeated look, his attention moving to the record player on her desk and back to her in wordless question of such a claim. Deacon stepped back when she scooted her chair back, practically lighting up with excitement that she had consented.

"Classical?" His ears perked, an interested look on his face to accompany them. "Thank Jack! If I had to listen to any more of that garbage I was going to rip my own ears off." Alright, so it all wasn't exactly garbage, but in comparison...

Moving over to her bookcase, the tabby knelt to look over her collection of records not much unlike a Scareling in a candy store. His tail twitched a few times as he narrowed things down, murmuring softly to himself until he gently tugged free a record and stood again. He held it up to show her, looking rather pleased with himself. []

"This one?"

Riyo seemed mildly surprised when the boil got excited. She'd always pegged him for more of a rock and roll kind of guy. "Well it wasn't that bad. Granted, some of it sounded like the artist was reading off some things written on the bathroom wall, but I liked the shuffling part." Even if she hadn't really done it right. Maybe she could learn how to do fancy footwork like that someday.

The ghoul stood just behind him, watching Deacon comb over the records with her hands in her pockets. Yes. Her PJ bottoms had pockets. They were the most comfortable things EVER.

"Oh?" As the boil held up the record, Riyo gently plucked it from his grasp. Truth be told, this was one of the records she would sleep to on her roughest nights. She supposed it was appropriate in that way.

Her feet pitter pattered over to the record player as the shiny black disc was removed from its case and placed on the vintage music machine. She always loved to feel the grooves on the top before setting the needle down as she had done thousands of times before. With a flip of the switch, it was on, and the vinyl started turning.

"I guess you'll be leading, then."

Shrugging again, he grunted softly in acknowledgement. "Suppose so... We find this sort much more relaxing and pleasing to the senses, though."

He waited as she set up the record player, taking a couple of steps toward the center of the room in preparation. It would be best to not end up knocking something over in her dorm; Deacon was trying to make a nice impression for once.

When Riyo turned back to him, he held out a hand in gesture for her to take it. "If you wish, but we'll go with something slow and simple... Unless you've got the energy left for ballroom dancing?"
