So... when a guy is confused, when his best friend was pretty much no help in the situation, who did he go to? Mot? Mot would probably wind up telling him to imagine her naked (he'd had conversations like this with the guy before) and then realize what he'd just said--and Roch would be left worse off than he'd been earlier. And taking another cold shower.
But speaking of cold, the punk boil thought, turning abruptly and heading for the demon dorm. Edel was smarter than he was, and more experienced in dating and stuff. Although he knew it might be a sore subject with Moure and everything, but--
Well, he was seriously confused, so she'd forgive him, maybe? He hoped. Either way, she could tell him SOMETHING more than "Be her friend!!" or "Make her your ghoulfriend!" It was more complicated than that.

She was almost done packing, throwing in one of the last dresses into her luggage. Of those that remained, hanging forlornly in the closet, was the one she had worn to prom (now tucked away in one side) and the few dresses that Muka had bought for her the first time they went shopping. She had meant to wear them on her first date with Moure, but, she supposed, that wasn't going to happen now. Though to be honest, most of it was her fault. She had been the one distancing herself away from him.
It was only when Dingo's ears perked up and when the runic inugami began sniffing and shuffling towards the door did Edel realise she had a visitor. Not Moure, she hoped, suddenly tensing up, her mind scrambling for what to say if it were him at the door. Not seeing him for over a month, letting prom slide by them as if it didn't matter .... her going home without any notice. So when she did creak the door open and realised that it was Roch, her heart stopped pounding and she sighed with relief.
“Hey, Roch. Thanks for accompanying me at prom, I hope the rest of it went well for you...” the ghoul paused and noticed that for some reason, her friend was looking incredibly uneasy. Which one was it because of? Getting dumped, getting slapped, or the favour for the horseman turning out very badly? Instead of pondering any further and letting the reaper freeze, she took the initiative to ask, “What's wrong?”

He shivered, hugging himself. "Can we talk?" he asked. "Not here, think I'd freeze to death, but somewhere private?" he suggested. "I need some advi--are you going somewhere?" he asked, glancing in her room and seeing the packing mess.

“Home, yes. There are a few things to sort out,” she replied honestly, getting straight to the point, “And sure, let's take a walk?”
Edel could sense that from his tone that whatever he was going to talk about was going to be a little bit more serious this time.

Roch nodded, stepping away from the room and waiting for her to join him. Even as they walked away from her room, he was shoving his hands deep into his pants pockets, wondering how to approach the various problems on his mind. Then he decided he was too stupid to do it strategically, and just came out with--
"Edel, am I a moron?"

Edel blinked at Roch. Was this the reaper going through the phase of teenage insecurities and etc.? For a moment she was a little tempted to nod her head and agree – she wouldn't be wrong, depending on what he was referring to – but she could tell that the question was a little bit skewed to ~the emotional side~
“That depends on what you're talking about, Roch, you're no idiot when it comes to music or-” Edel gestured emptily, unable to quite explain what she meant to say. It was awkward. She dropped her arms to her sides, sighed and smiled. “What is this about, really?”

"I got this bad habit of likin' ghouls that other guys like," he said bluntly. "And I've done this before, so I knew it was stupid gettin' involved in a situation a LOT like the last one, but here I am, right back in one. Different ghoul, same deal. So y'can be honest, I'm a moron, ain't I?" he said. "I'm better off not crushin' on ghouls like that to begin with, I know that, too. So why do I keep doin' it?" he asked her. "Y'think if I got myself dissipated--nope, that don't work... how about a brainwashing, or maybe a hypnotist? You know anyone?"

She might have just opened the floodgates with that one, she thought, as she listened on in stunned silence. “Uhm...” she began, her brain still attempting to process everything he was saying, “First off, I'm not too sure about the brainwashing. Or hypnotism. Or dissipation.” The ghoul was giving her friend the most disapproving of :T .
“And, I don't see the problem liking ghouls other guys like, except unless you're hoping that the ghoul likes you back, and you only.” Oh look, she might have figured out the problem all by herself already. “Which is the problem isn't it?”
Her next response would have been to ask who, but she thought it would be a bit more polite to answer the rest of his thoughts first.
“You're no moron for liking somebody Roch, it happens, it's how to deal with it.” Alright, she needed a little bit more context this time. “But first, what do you mean by 'ghouls like that', or you could be more specific and tell me a little more.” Was she somewhat amused? Yes she was somewhat amused. It was interesting to see this side of Roch, she reckoned.

"Well... um... it all started when she was an alpaca," he said slowly. "The horsemen were handin' out strange potions, and here's this one with bottles to drink an'a cute little alpaca with her, so I was all, hell, why not? It turned me into a minipet," he said dryly. "And then comes Danny, and she's gonna crush me, or somethin, so I jump onto higher ground--the alpaca, and when the alpaca starts t'shy I do what I did with the goat--I sang to her," he said. "But turns out the alpaca wasn't REALLY an alpaca, she was a mermaid. And she started followin' me around cuz she liked the way I sang." He looked at her. "Y'followin', right?" he asked. "Cuz it's a sortta confusing story."

And then she got lost at the first line of the story. The ghoul was struggling not to gape in utter confusion as Roch rambled on about alpacas, potions, him becoming a minipet, Danny, him singing, MERMAID, and more about him singing. Edel stared at Roch, thinning her lips as she attempted to distill the important points from that story.
“Sooo....” she began, after a while, “The ghoul in question is a mermaid, and she likes your singing.” And has been following you around. A pause. “T-That's a good start don't you think?”

"Yeeeah," he said. "She's um... well... a tiny bit ditzy--more than a tiny bit, I'll be honest, she's a ditz. She and Danny get along REAL well," he drawled, grinning even as he said it. "But I was okay at first, y'know? She was just out to hear some music, and I'm a walkin' guitar--but then she starts SINGIN' to me--" he gave her a pathetic pout, looking very much like a little boil.
"Turns out I'm easily caught by singin', too," he admitted. "But she's one of the good ghouls, like Xiu--I had this serious thing for Xiu for a while, and all it did was wind up with my gettin' my heart broke a couple of times. So I TRY and lose her. She just won't listen. She's INTENT on bein' my friend--next thing I know she's best friends with Danny, and joinin' the FMC."

Suddenly, Edel was trying to imagine two Dannys together.
...
Okay.
The ghoul couldn't help but snicker at the sight of pouty Roch and hearing him admit that he had fallen for this ghoul's singing too. Alas, the story took a turn for the worse and ended up sounding like a tragedy. The smile on her face was gone by now and was replaced with a sympathetic look. “I know what you're thinking,” she began, a little sadly, “But does it have to be like that? You're not exactly a bad person Roch, especially not the way you are now. It's hard to say the past is the past but I don't think you'd be bad for her. ”

"She's got another guy," he said simply. "She calls him Thana, says he'd never lie to her, and he's the one that convinced her I was bullyin' her because I would save her when she was in trouble but still not wanna be her friend," he said with a snort.
"Even her sister flat out told me she's got feelings for this guy--that she's attracted to him. So here's a guy with a high class title of heir, or somethin, probably a lot of money, and who she believes without hesitation. Then there's me." He looked at her. "So I'm right back into a love triangle, and, as always, the underdog. And unlike screevee shows, underdogs don't usually win."

“That is bullying Roch,” she teased, “You're not playing very fair there.” Her grin faded as she took on a more serious tone. “Alright, there's another guy, but what about you? Does she have feelings for you too?” The ghoul sighed as she stared back at the reaper. So defeatist already, Roch.
The frost demon took in a deep breath.
“If you love her... then up your game and fight for her. It's romantic. And certainly not pointless and hopeless. She would appreciate it, at the very least, and as for you, you wouldn't have to live with the regret of not trying,” she said pointedly. “It's not manly to give up now.” Woah woah woah, where was this coming from?
“So, Roch, what are you going to go about it?”

He gave her a dark look. "You're bullyin' me now," he told her. "But yeah, I sort of am... I mean... but then it gets even MORE complicated," he told her, having led her far from anyone else.
"She's physically attracted... um... to me," he admitted, flushing slightly. "Like to the point where it'd be easy just to... I dunno, sway her decision?" He seemed to be looking for a delicate way to put it. "But that just ain't right. I mean, this is a decision she should make on her own, without someone influencin' it cuz she's got no clue how vulnerable she is. If you had to make a decision, wouldn't you wanna do it with a clear head?"
