Kesin and Kesisk, Initiative Roll
Kesin still did not particularly like being outside, not after their run-in with a bronze dragon, but staying inside the Weyr all the time was actually driving her a little bit crazy, and Kesisk wasn't far behind. And so, somewhat reluctantly, they finally emerged in the middle of the night to stretch their legs and get some fresh air.
The little gold gave a soft hum, accompanied by feelings of happiness. It was good to be outside! And even if they ran into another bad big or bad wher, they would surely win again!

[Berath: Initiative]
Outside the dragon entrance to the infirmary a hulking muscular green dragon paced restlessly, her eyes yellow with fear and red with anger. Trapped, trapped out here unable to help! A stab of pain from her rider made her snarl and flinch and snap her jaws at empty air. If she ever caught hold of that wher she would rip it limb from limb while it still lived!
Lashing her tail the heavyset dragon swept the surrounding area with a sharp gaze; she might not be able to help inside, but she could keep watch out here! As she scanned a flash of movement caught her attention, and her head snapped around to focus fully. A little gold wher, and a human. she snapped, addressing both members of the pair. She was usually a patient, calm dragon but what was happening to her home – and her healer – had her violently protective instincts bubbling right on the surface.

Kesisk, Attacking Berath; Kesin, Idle
Big! the gold alerted when she caught sight of the pacing green, her eyes swirling angrily when it told her to 'halt.' How dare a dragon tell her what to do?! Impulsively, without waiting for permission from her handler, she rushed at the green, snapping her jaws.
Bigs bad! Go away!
"Kesisk!" her handler called after her, "You're supposed to wait!" A handful of the dragons were on their side, and it wouldn't do to attack an ally. Either way, the wher had made it clear what side they were on, and if this green turned out to be on the same side, hopefully she wouldn't take it too poorly.

Berath bellowed her rage and lashed out at the small gold. Nobody, nobody would pass her so long as she could so much as twitch! HerHealer was in there. She would not let another wher and handler go in there to help the brown wher already trying to kill him! It had been so long now since she had called for help, and she didn't know if anyone had gone to him. He wasn't awake anymore, and there was nothing she could do to help him.

Hey! That hurt! Large claws raked her hide, and the blow sent the crooked-winged wher tumbling. She popped back up almost immediately, though, charging back in to try to bite at the stubborn green dragon's foot.

Well, that answered that clearly enough. This dragon was with the Resistance, and like the rest of them, would have to be dealt with - this time, hopefully before Kesisk took a real beating. Running to assist her wher, Kesin pulled the whip from her belt and lashed it at the dragon.
"Go! Get out of here!"

She managed to get her foot out of the young wher's range, but the whip caught her painfully across the face. With ichor dripping downer her muzzle she snapped her head around to face the human. she sent to the human, bellowing furiously and taking another swipe at the little wher.

The second swipe connected just as well as the first, catching her in the chest as she tried to back away out of range, but wasn't fast enough. Far from being dissuaded, however, she bellowed back and ran in to swipe at the dragon.

They were really going to have to reevaluate their strategy for fighting dragons...or actually come up with one, as it were. Or just go back to staying inside, where the larger beasts couldn't fit. More grateful than ever for the whip she'd acquired, Kesin snapped it at the green a second time, aiming for her face again. Maybe if she could catch her in the eye, the dragon would get the message and leave.

the green roared at the wher and the human. She could barely feel him anymore, his strength was fading, and if another wher and handler fighting for the revolution got in he would be dead for sure. She couldn't let that happen, she couldn't!
Crying out again in anger and fear she snapped her teeth at the wher, but another lash of the whip made her flinch and miss her target.

Big leave! the baby gold insisted. Frustrated by her string of failures in attacking the dragon, she lashed her tail from side to side and hunkered down, winding up for another go. Kesisk stayed, looking ready to pounce, for a long moment before dashing forward with claws at the ready.

Now that was more like! Kesin whooped encouragement to her bondmate before responding to the dragon, lip curled in disdain. "Can't come in? Now why is that?"
Another cruel flick of the whip - the dragon might not be able to hurt her, but she had no compunctions about hurting the dragon. It was an advantage, and she would use it to its full extent. She had no interest in honor or a fair fight, only victory.

This time the wher managed to sink its claws deep into her leg, and before she could strike back the whip was drawn back for another strike. As it cracked through the air Berath shut her eyes instinctively to try to protect them. It was fortunate that she had, for the blow landed right across her left eye and only her thick triple lids kept her from losing it.
Opening it up again she bared her teeth in defiance. she replied to the wherhandler.

Encouraged that she at last had made a successful strike, Kesisk fairly danced in place, rather than backing away again. While the green seemed preoccuppied with Kesin, she tried to chomp at her foot. Maybe then she would think twice about hitting her again! All in all, despite her initial string of misses, this was going much, much better than the last time they had fought a dragon.

"That's too bad, because there's only one way this is going to end." Kesin was disappointed that their enemy shut her eyes just in time to avoid losing one, though it was a grim thing to think. A half-blind dragon would give her even more of an advantage, and benefit any others who might fight her in the future.
Kesisk finally seemed to have hit her stride, and Kesin encouraged her with feelings of approval as she gave the whip another crack. Good girl.
