Socks, though that wasn't her real name, had an inkling for fish. Maybe it was because the better part of her was feline, maybe it was because the creek was teaming with them this summer. But right now all she wanted was a pan of fried perch. So with her bucket of rolled up bread dough and worms, she took her pole and her hooks to a nearby creek where the trees provided ample shade from the summer sun.

Lucius was hiding in one of his more favorite spots, curled up comfortably below a tree. His book lay discarded next to him, scribbled notes on separate papers stuck between the pages. It was his day's goal to get the final half read for the tenth time and be sure he had learned everything he could from it, but somewhere between the peaceful sound of the nearby creek and the summer heat, he soon found himself unable to resist taking a light nap.

Socks ambled along, bucket and fishing pole in tow when she spotted another Cattaur just as purple as she was. That alone earned him a few brownie points, in her mind. She gave a smug little smirk as she wandered towards him and sat beside him. Without a word she plopped down herself and her bucket and began to fish.

One of Lucius's little ears flicked at the sound of someone approaching him. He cracked a bright green eye open to see a female cattaur sitting next to him. "Oh.. hello miss," He stretched slowly, a little curious why she hadn't said anything. Giving her a quick look-over, he realized that she had a fishing pole in her hands. "Any luck yet?" he smiled, trying to be friendly.

Socks didn't hesitate to drop a wet perch in the other Cattaur's lap/forepaws. "Yep! They're really bitin' today!" she said brightly. "I should have brought a hat, though. At this rate, I'll go in swimmin' right along with 'em!" She noted all his paper things sticking out of a book. "Readin' on a day like this?" she gave her head a little shake and recast her pole. "You oughta be fishin', too! You could eat for weeks with all the food in this creek! Crawdads, too, further up in the reeds."

Lucius laughed, looking down at the fish moving on his paws. He picked it up, looking it over. "I'll be getting a bath along with you and the fish." He looked at her again when she asked about his book. "Yes.. I read a lot. Too much, probably," the male rubbed his neck self-consciously, remembering that he hadn't actually eaten since the day before. "Oh. My name is Lucius, by the way."

"My name is Socks," she offered a hand for shaking. "Well, that's my nickname, anyway. My real name is Theodora-Rose, but since I was kneehigh to a grasshopper, me ma'am's called me Socks. What are your plans for today, Mr. Lucius?"

Lucius shook her hand. "It's a cute nickname," he thought about her question for a moment. "It's a nice day outside.. I could help you catch some more fish. Would you care to share lunch with me? We should probably enjoy this weather while it lasts." Besides, the male cattaur smiled to himself, what would be better than spending time with a pretty girl?

"That sounds like the best plan I've heard all day!" Socks nodded. "But we'll have to take turns on the fishing pole as I've only brought the one." Without hesitation, she offered him the pole. "Go on, take it for a spell and I'll bait the hooks for ya."
