Light Up stood, still, against the twisting mangrove trunk just on the outskirts of the little glade, one with the shadows save his softly burning eyes. They watched, as always, his brother, unblinking and unreadable. They watched, to his distaste, too, the maid. There was always a maid.

The wing-marked brother had his head tilted slightly, looking down the lovely lady he'd located with a sly, wicked smile. She was a fine, fine specimen of a doe, pastels and smoothly swooping markings that matched the variegated strands of her mane. " And after all our pleasantries, I haven’t had the pleasure of knowing your name yet, beautiful miss." He leaned down and spoke, intimately, " I am Sideways Down - but for you, just Down is familiar enough." As he rose, he brushed past her hair, loosing a soft, curled lock. It was that kind of physicality he did so love to play with, often eliciting soft sighs from simple girls. This one seemed more aware, more's the pity, but would be such an impeccable conquest.

No, she was no fool, and she could divine the game he sought to play simply enough - but he was a handsome buck, and when she fancied so, she made concessions for handsome bucks. And everything about him, down to that wicked smile, indicated blackness lay where his heart ought. That, she did fancy so.
"Sideways Down," she mused, cool and low, then laughed, "a warning, or a cautionary tale? I am...Delicate." Her lashes lowered, but did not quite flutter.

"And a suitable name it is," He said, scrutinising her openly and ending with a chuckle of his own. "The Motherfather has named you well, with but a description - I would not be able to place anything that would aptly represent you." He was rightfully wary of her intelligence, but she consented to their dance with charm and beauty; that was enough for Down. "But perhaps, it is simply that I lack such cleverness. I have other specialities, mostly of the...physical kind."

"I doubt it is cleverness you lack," she replied, eyes glittering lazily beneath the veiled lashes, "but I do not doubt your specialities - a needless advertisement, don't you think? Are all your conquests so well-wooed by tittering boasts?" Her smile was faintly mocking, but only very faintly, otherwise quite alluring enough.

He was slightly affronted - he had only been steering the conversation to its more important conclusions, not quite boasting...as difficult as it was, she was rather too pretty to turn away from. He swallowed some of his pride, having it soothed over by her half-lidded visage.
"Merely informing, my lady," a brief statement. "They have been rather more charmed by show than tell, though needing a little guidance." He stood, back straight and dipped his head to acknowledge "you are a rather different doe, a special one, and it is an acquaintance I accept with pleasure." His confidence and charm had filtered back into his words - he would not long be put out by a contrary (and very beautiful) doe.

He was miffed. How cute. "Do you, now..." she chuckled, throaty. "But, come - do you mean to show?" It would not do to chase him off, not when the best part still lay ahead.

"That I do." He affirmed, light eyes focused and clear. "In the face of your beauty and wit, dear Delicate," Down shifted, his side wings following suit, infusing this motion with far more romanticism than a Kimeti should've possessed. "my intention to show has been surpressed only by our introductory civility."

"Oh, but now we know each other," she purred, "so there is hardly any need more for civility, is there?"

"So that is. Let us not waste any more time, and continue to a demonstration that will involve much, much less conversing." He paused dramatically before a terrible smirk. "Or a different sort of conversation, if that is your wish."

Ah. There was the rub. "Yes," she laughs, slipping closer, lidded eyes gleaming dark, "but not here, not today. You may be into that, but I'm not - or not in the mood for it right at this moment, anyway..." Leaning intimately over to speak for his ears only, she murmured her meaning clear, "With your brother watching, that is. He is your brother, is he not? There is too much righteousness in his stance to be...only a spurned lover. What a show you put on, just for him."

Down laughed despite technically being rejected - no, he was sure it would come to pass, and it was amusing how astute she was. "Yes," he admitted wryly, deftly avoiding her emphasis. "my prying little brother." He briefly touched her neck with his nose, and assured her: "Very well, I shall deliver quite a spectacle the next time you are present and ready, maiden. Farewell in the meantime, I shall see you again."

"You shall," she affirmed, slanting a knowing glance backward at him as she slipped away. But she did not miss the chance, oh no, to pass by the brother's hiding spot, whispering significant words unheard by any other, before disappearing, shadowless, into the Swamp.

None else would ever know a thing of what she had said, save that Light Up stood, unmoving, through her little speech, then stood still there for moments more after her departure. His impassive face betrayed no sentiment as he finally emerged from his shelter to fix the brighter buck with burning eyes.
"This one seems rather quicker than your usual fare, brother. Have you finally tired of the brainless, simpering wenches you commonly favour?"

"You know I care not for their wit, or lack thereof, Light Up. What is the difference in one night's pleasure?" The jibe was dismissed summarily. "Cleverer she may be," he noted airily, stretching a back leg, "but it shall not be long before I get what I want, like I always do." Down glanced significantly at his sibling. "I believe this is a suitable pace for a doe such as her - you would do well not to doubt me."
