It was not entirely impossible that Alexander would choose to go to the library and study, and Yin had things that he did on his own as well. But on this particular day, after having a full day to recuperate from Prom and to get suggestions from his very caring classmates, Yin was cutting his training just slightly short. Time wise of course, he had merely pushed himself to do everything that he normally did faster to make up the time.

Rikki had given him some of the best suggestions to start with he felt, and Jack had reconfirmed one of them. Minipets were a must. And flowers as well if he could find them. His best bet was to head out into the forest, to try to find what he could find. Quickly.

Thankfully his was a species meant for hunting. Unfortunately he was not precisely one known for capturing things. Furthermore, considering that he had a tattered blanket that had once adorned his bed to act as a makeshift sack...well anything he got was liable to not end up pristine. Which was why it was probably a good thing that what he found that met his standards was already an undeadish sort of pet. He was not really sure what it was, but it looked like a small round thing, and he managed to capture it and shove it in the sack with only minimal bloodshed. It would stop oozing rotted blood soon, it was only a flesh wound.

He was lucky with the next one as well, it looked like bones and had a crimson mane and tail already, so the blood just blended right on in. The two minis were not pleased to be jostled together, but that was hardly his problem. They did scare off most of his prey though, but Yin was an excellent ratter, and he managed to add a few scrags to the blanket before all was said and done, they could always be easy food for later if nothing else.

He was partially to the Undead dorms when he noticed the shrubbery. It would work, there were multiple flowers on the plant. It took a bit of effort, and angering a lawn gnome, but he managed to uproot the thing and took it with him. The best part of all was that after he made his way through the freezing dormitory Alexander was not in his room, so he was able to slip in and leave the blanket of pets in his room. The top was securely fastened, so everything would be okay. Of course, the entire thing was threadbare, with small holes already appearing, and scrags were excellent chewers, but to Yin they were secure. On his way out he dropped the shrub of flowers right in front of the door, not knowing that the cold was probably about as helpful to them as it was to him, and he began to make his way back to his room.

He had no idea of knowing if Alexander would go to his own room before coming to visit, but it would be a good, affection showing surprise when he found it. For now Yin had one final touch to try. He went back to his room, carefully looked through his closet, and went to sit down with a book. When Alexander returned he would find him puzzling things out on his own, or asleep over it. It really just depended on how long he took.

Alex had indeed spent a lot of his day at the library, or reading outside, or just..doing anything to take his mind off of stupid prom things from the night before. He was actually, for once, not even all that eager to go and see Yin for the night because he just had no idea if things might be awkward between them, topped off with the fact that there was probable still glitter all over the floor, and nobody wanted to have to deal with that nightmare. Still, he knew he couldn't put it off forever. If he didn't at least stop by and say hi to the weremantis, Yin would probably think something was wrong, and that would just make things worse.

Still, that didn't mean he couldn't delay the inevitable. He could, theoretically, spend some time in his room gathering up a few new books to take over to Yin's place with him, and possibly a new assortment of clothes as well. And while he was in his room, he should probably spend time with his other minipets, feeding them and playing with them and giving them all of the attention that they deserved but never really got. His poor cycorgi was probably going to be hyper crazy, if he wasn't off adventuring in the closet.

And so, Alex found himself making his slow and easy paced way through the hallway of the undead dorms, down the flight of stairs, and down another hallway towards his room. Something strange caught his eye as he approached, and he frowned in puzzlement, not at all sure what it was until he got closer. It was a..shrub? Sitting in front of his door? Judging by the wilted petals littering the floor, it had been a rather flowery one at some point. Feeling confused, he shoved it to the side with his foot, leaving a trail of dirt in it's wake, before reaching out to open his door.

He entered into complete and utter chaos.

His pets seemed to be in some kind of uproar, and there was a lot of chittering, nails scraping against the floor, and running around going on. What the jack was even...

Something escaped his room by running over his foot, and he only caught just a glimpse of what appeared to be a scrags tail as it took off down the hallway and out of sight. What in the seven bloody hells was a scrags doing in his dorm room? Nothing like that would ever dare enter and undead room that was full of undead mini pets that would likely eat it.

The smell is what hit him next, a familiar scent of blood and entrails that made his mouth water. There were bodies of other rat-like looking things strewn about, and all of his more carnivorous pets appeared to be having a feast. Another scrags came running out of nowhere, headed towards the door, and Alex didn't hesitate to lift up his foot and stomp on it, effectively squishing it and snapping it's spine before bending down to pick it up, shrugging to himself before tearing into it with his teeth, the warm blood dripping down his chin and onto his shirt as he continued to try and work out just what the hell was going on.

Wait..what was....

He moved forward into the room, shutting the door behind him as he moved forward. There was one creature that he did not recognize, joining in the feeding frenzy with his other pets. Was that...a kushi? Alex just shook his head in astonishment. This was really just..so bizarre he couldn't even believe it. A flash of red and an odd, unrecognizable sound caught his attention and he glanced up towards whatever was causing it, his eyes landing on yet another strange mini pet, and this one had been backed up into a corner by his black rabbit dust bunny.

What. The. Jack.

Alex couldn't deal with this. It was just too freaking weird. He shuffled over towards the corner, shooing Creature away, giving the kirinni a chance to escape, which it did by darting off and hiding underneath his chair.

Okay then.

Alex spent the next several minutes silently what the ******** to himself as he went about his business gathering up books and clothes. It appeared that his pets wouldn't need to be fed, and that he had aquired a couple of new ones, somehow. Okay then, he could deal with that. It was fine. Nooooo problems here. When he was finished, he finally left his room, clicking the door shut behind him, giving another glance to the dead shrub by his door, and then leaving to head to Yin's room.

If he'd been thinking clearly, he would have probably locked the door behind him, but as it was, he was too busy mulling over all of the strangeness to even bother contemplating it.

Some time later, he was at Yin's room, and while it was quite late by now, he still just pushed his way in as he usually did, not even considering the fact that Yin might be asleep and he could end up waking the boil up. The scrags that he had been munching on had been discarded somewhere along the way, but the traces of blood were still on his face, hands, and shirt.

The Art of War had sounded interesting. And, more importantly, it had looked short. By the third page he could feel a headache coming on. By the fourth he was taking regular breaks. By the sixth he was nodding off, still sitting with the book in his lap. The door startled him awake and he jerked his head up, only to wince and bring a hand up to try to massage the kinks out of his neck. That was going to be sore for a while.

The good news was, sleeping or not, he had been caught with a book. A horribly awful book to read, which meant that it had to be somewhat impressive. His bonded was even partially coated with blood, which meant that his hunger might be sated. "Good evening," he said, trying to hold in a yawn as he looked up at him.

Then he began to wake up. No no no no no, he was already messing this up! He set the book aside quickly and stood to make his way over to Alexander. As he neared he began moving rather slowly, glancing down at his hands as if he was uncertain about something before looking up at Alexander. "How are you today?" he queried. Communication? Check. Then he closed the last bit of distance between them and moved to try to put his arms around the zomboil in a hug. Not awkward in the least.

Showing that he cared? He could do this all week.

Alex had, at the last moment, finally remembered what time it was, but it was really much too late as he just pushed the door open and let it swing into the wall with a bang.

Ooops. He cringed ever so slightly, glancing over to the bed, relieved to see that Yin was actually still awake but waiting to be chastised for his incredibly noisy entry, or possibly told to clean up before he touched anything in the room.

What he got was a 'good evening', and a view of Yin sitting in bed, with a book on his lap. And not just any book, a rather difficult to read book that Alexander had no idea Yin would ever be interested in reading. It..it didn't even have any pictures! Really he was just shocked into silence, not even able to respond while Yin pushed himself out of bed, making his way towards him.

First his dorm room, and now this. His mind was completely boggled.

"I'm...fine..." He answered, slowly, as though speaking while his head was so crowded full of thoughts was difficult. So, one might imagine his complete and utter surprise when Yin actually moved forward, opened his arms and hugged him.

He was at a complete loss for words. His brain had officially gone completely numb, and all he could do was stand there and accept the warmth that was suddenly enveloping him, while somewhere in the very recesses of his mind, where thought was still somehow working, he wondered if he'd at some point stepped into another dimension.

Yin hugged him for several seconds, but it was rather obvious that Alexander was not going to return the hug, and as he stepped back and glanced at Alexander's face there was no sign of any approval or indication that he was doing the right thing.

Yin's face fell, and if he could be compared to anything it would be a kicked puppy.

Except more depressed.
PostPosted: Sun Jul 01, 2012 11:08 pm

The hugging had lasted for several seconds, and it had taken that long for Alex's brain to regain some semblance of functionality. But by then, Yin had stepped away from him, and was looking up at him, and before he could even offer the boil a warm smile of approval, the weremantis was looking down, the face he was making enough to break Alex's poor undead heart into a million pieces.

Fuuuuuuuuuu brain! Why did you make this happen? Because, yes, Alex was totally going to blame his brain on this one.

So he said and did the first thing that came to mind, his voice a little lower then usual, and slow. He seriously sounded like he could have just woken up, if he ever really slept. He reached forward, grabbing on to Yin's upper arm, gently since he was very aware that if he wasn't careful he could end up hurting him, and pulled him closer. "I..uh..I didn't say you should stop?"

Because really, when was Alex not all for hugging and touching and cuddling?

It was not that Yin was particularly keen on hugging, but when he was throwing himself out there like that, and was already worked up about it, it was nice to have a sign that he had not completely screwed up. He had thought that this was what Alexander had wished for. So when the cool hand reached out, holding him...well rather gently, even for the zomboil, and pulled him back in he was not entirely disappointed. And for some reason the lower pitch of his bonded's voice was...extremely distracting, though with him speaking that slowly he managed to pay attention fairly well.

"So this is acceptable?" Yin asked, trying to make sure as he slipped his arms back around him. If it was...well then yes, he had done everything just about perfect. Getting his bonded things, communicating, showing him physically. He had not said anything, but he was just putting that in the communications category for now.

But mentally he was counting (slowly, ever slowly) toward thirty, which would be when he was ready to pull away unless Alexander stopped him. He could last until 30.
PostPosted: Sun Jul 01, 2012 11:26 pm

Ah yes, that was much better. As Yin's arms found there way around him again, the 6'2" (ya, he grew a little, sorry Yin) zombie could have just melted on the spot. This was what true happiness felt like, he was sure of it. Some instincts were urging him to pick Yin up and carry him to bed like this, but he somehow managed to refrain from these more primal urges, telling himself mentally over and over again to just take what he could get and accept it and don't push for more then that.

"Mmmhmm.." He answered, not trusting himself to speak at the moment, his own arms wrapping securely around Yin for the moment, but ready to release him as soon as he showed any signs of wanting to move away, which he eventually did, all too soon.

His arms dropped back down to his sides as soon as Yin stepped away, and he gave the boil a rather curious look, even while he continued to smile at him. "So uh, what did I do to deserve that?" He asked, feeling completely puzzled.

He was thankful that Alexander allowed him to leave easily enough, and he was ready to recover his personal space, though it had not been entirely unpleasant. He was not quite as thankful that Alexander wanted to question him about it.

"Oh um," yeah this was going well. Somehow he felt that just flat out saying he was working on showing affection, and that this was on a proverbial checklist, just would not go over well. "Nothing?" he hazarded. "I wished to do it."

That answer was just going to have to work for now.
PostPosted: Sun Jul 01, 2012 11:53 pm

Yin's answer, while not expected (but really, what answer could the weremantis have given that Alex would have expected at this point?), made the zomboil feel a strange sort of giddiness. He had done it because he had wished to? A grin spread across his face, because even while a small voice in the back of his head told him that this absolutely could not be happening and there was more to it then just that, he was all too eager to let himself be completely ignorant and just accept what Yin was telling him and be happy for it. Finally, some form of affection that he didn't have to initiate himself! Maybe things were finally progressing in the relationship. Maybe he'd been worried about absolutely nothing all day.

Best of all, with all of the surprise and confusion surrounding the hug, he was actually able to forget about all of the weirdness that was going on in his dorm room. The night had gone from absolute what the ******** to an odd type of almost bliss for the zomboil.

"Well..okay then." He said, just..accepting it, and all too happily, his voice still quite low, even though he appeared to have fully 'awakened' from his earlier brain numbing haze.

"I'm sorry I came in so late." And really, now he was sorry, because he had put off coming her for so long and he could have gotten that hug sooner. "Were you waiting up for me? Is that why you were reading?" He glanced again at the book that was laying on the bed, still wondering why in Halloween the weremantis would have chosen to pick up that one.

"Do you..want me to read to you before we go to bed...?" Confused. So very confused but so very, very happy.

Yin was beginning to feel almost guilty. Any day of the week he could have collected minipets and flowers, tried to read a bit more, and given Alexander a simple hug. Today he had actually done it and the look on his face was just...so happy. So very, very happy. And also he was acting so concerned, so Yin tried to put him at ease (plus, talking counted for more communication right?). "It is fine, I know you do not require sleep as I do. I was just trying...to practice a bit."

Practice which had gotten him a headache.

He really, really did not want to have anything else to do with the book, but Alexander was offering, and if he was reading, that was talking, and that would be even more communication. How could Yin possibly pass that up? "Maybe just for a little while?" He reached out with one hand to grab Alexander's and pull him over toward the bed, sitting down on the edge and picking the book back up to hand to him when he sat down.
PostPosted: Mon Jul 02, 2012 10:41 am

If this was anybody but Yin, Alex would have thought the boil was just trying to butter him up because he wanted something. As it was, he couldn't fathom what could possibly going on, nor did he want to think too much about it. Acceptance. Acceptance and not questioning. Nope. Why do that and risk ruining a good thing?

"Practice?" Alex was still a little slow on the uptake, but getting better. Anyways he was getting pulled all too happily towards the bed now, sitting down next to Yin with a book getting shoved into his hands. He figured out what page the weremantis left off on.

"Ya, okay, just a couple of pages. It's late so you're probably tired?" He held the book open on his lap with one hand while his other arm wrapped around Yin before he began.

The first paragraph went well. By the second he was beginning to sag slightly, and fighting back yawns. By the third he was struggling to keep his eyes open. By the fourth a good percentage of his body weight was resting on Alexander and his eyes barely fluttered. He was not conscious for the fifth.
PostPosted: Mon Jul 02, 2012 10:54 am

Two pages...five paragraphs...they were almost the same, right? He was only a little surprised that Yin had fallen asleep against him, and that surprise mainly came from the fact that the thought he was too cold for Yin to be that comfortable against. But then again, Alex often got bored halfway through the night and cuddled up against him, so maybe the weremantis was just getting used to it.

Closing the book and setting it to the side, he shifted Yin around so that he could somewhat lift him and place him down in the bed where he normally slept. As for himself, he didn't go to bed right away. He had a training shift to worry about the next day and hadn't actually spent much time going over the material he was supposed to learn before then. He spent a good portion of the night reading over that before going to bed himself.

Relationshipping Day 2:

Yin had thought that he had done well the day before, but apparently today Alexander wanted to train, but not with him. Something to do with work and whatnot, and Yin had just communicated (that was key) that he hoped his day went well and that he would see him that evening. Then he had done his own training.

Now he was back in the woods, some new ghostly or undead thing (he was not really sure what it was) wrapped up in a slightly dusty and moth eaten bit of curtain he had found in the monster dormitory. Several scrags had joined it, and a hahyena that, if it survived long enough, would certainly be walking with a limp. On his way back he made sure to look for better flowers, just in case the other one was not acceptable. This time he found some with long stalks, and after a bit of scraping at the ground managed to uproot several, though he all but crushed the stalks as he carried them back to the undead dormitory.

Was it just him or were more of Alexander's pets creeping out to greet him as he dropped off that makeshift bag? And he did pick up a few bits of trash to throw away on his way out.

On his way out he noted the shrub kicked to the side, and with a small frown he moved it back in front of the door and arranged (IE threw) the other flowers around it before hurrying back to his room to go sit down with a book. That he dreaded the entire way back, and once he got to his room he meditated, he played with minipets, and he did just about anything else rather than read, including capturing a nice feast of corrividus (not rat!) and plucking it for when Alexander got back before he finally gave up and attempted to read the book he had chosen.

It was awful.
