Making a circuit around the small little book shop for a second time within the last hour, Tessa straightened a book that really wasn't that out of place. But she liked to keep the place clean and make sure the books were in good condition. Not to mention it allowed her the chance to browse the titles yet again. She loved being a librarian and sharing the joy that reading a book brought to ones self. Though she never actually spoke to those that came through the Library. It was too nerve wracking and she didn't even know what to say.

Tessa sighed, brushing her hands down her long skirt. True she did speak with those that wrote their names down in the checkout book. But other then that quiet and quick conversation she hardly spoke to anyone.

Glancing at the shelf next to her, she nodded to herself and walked back towards the front to slip behind the desk up there. She pulled out her small bag from under the desk and fished around until she found her own book. Might as well get some reading done, since there wasn't anyone currently in the building. Besides, she could go through the checkout book and compare it to the checkin one as soon as she got through a chapter. It wouldn't take her that long!

With one last sigh, settling in to the chair she sat upon, Tessa flipped open her current choice of reading to wait for her next customers to appear.

"It will just be for awhile, boy~" the gentle voice of Eluf cooed to the large, burly stag. A slender hand tenderly caressed the broad snout of his guardian, following the grain of the soft light brown fur. A snort was given in retort, golden eyes intently staring at the shorter man, taking another bold step forward to keep him close and near. With a slight nudging of the doting hand, Axe lowered and carefully curved his head around to hug Eluf to his thick chest, keeping wary of his large headgear. A soft sigh escaped the boy's nose, a sweet smile creeping along his lips. He couldn't be mad at the buck... Axe was naturally this stubborn and protective. He always had been since they'd met... Long, sleek arms lifted and wrapped around the muscular neck, fingers stroking down the black coat, just to the shoulders, "I'll promise to give you a nice long ride along the plains, and some fresh berries later tonight, ok?" he murmured. There was a pause, and firm grunt of displeasure, but Axe reluctantly lifted his head to let Eluf go. Smiling up at his grand companion, a pat was given to the sturdy neck, before turning on black buckled heels to head into the library, leaving Axe out front.

Once inside, he smoothed out his coat, and adjusted his cravat from having been a bit ruffled up by his four-legged friend. His curly ponytail was gently fiddled with as well, letting it lay more neatly over his shoulder of choice. Bright olive-honey eyes gazed at the interior, adjusting to it's slightly dimmer lighting. He'd come for a look around, in need of a new good read. Typically, he liked those of fantasy, or of romance, adventure even! Anything that could work the imagination, and possibly create inspiration for his sketches or paintings. His shoes made a staccato click as he walked along the hardwood flooring, gaze drifting over to the desk that was square in front for all to see. The librarian.

Putting on his most polite smile, and straightening up a bit more, shoulders pulling back, he approached her, giving a small bow of his head in greeting. Ah, but she was reading. Eluf knew quite well how unpleasant it could be when interrupted, but... he was hoping that her assistance might make his searching a little less weary, or fruitless. So he spoke softly, voice growing into the words produced, "Good evening miss~ Might I trouble you for just a moment?" he asked in his melodic voice.

She absently registered the soft sound of the front door opening, but otherwise stayed focused on the page she currently was reading. It was a good one! And one of her personal favorites. Tessa ran her fingers along the soft spine of The Count of Monte Cristo. She just loved the nice combination of action and romance the book gave its reader! But of course, she was not to have the chance to finish the chapter she was on. Duty called, so to speak. Tessa placed a string between the pages, bookmarking her page before she glanced up at the gentleman that had spoken.

It was not one of the regulars she'd grown used to seeing every now and then. Someone new. Tessa sat up a little straighter, blinking owlishly at the man. "Good evenin', sir." She spoke in a soft voice that could be considered pleasant if it didn't sound so monotone. Her typical tone of voice as she wasn't used to really talking with anyone - aside from her mother.

"Tis what I am here for, sir. How might I assist you?"

Okay, so maybe she could put forth a little more effort to try and sound interested in what this guest might want. Or a little more willing to help him out. It wasn't that she didn't like people or anything. She just...wasn't a very social person and felt awkward when talking with another. Something Mama said she needed to work on.

Eluf didn't seem to mind the lack of tone to her voice, still smiling politely, hands folding before him as he gave a single rocking onto his heels before settling flat footed again, "I don't want to keep you too long." he replied, gesturing to her book with a subtle tip of the head, "But I was wondering if.. I might gain your opinion, suggestion, rather." there was some warmth that tickled his cheeks as he tried to form the proper way to approach with his request. It wasn't often he'd do as such but... perhaps he was just feeling a bit whimsical... and daring. Such a rare combination for the reserved boy!

"you see, I am very much enamored with literature, especially those of folklore, and fiction." he gave a weighted pause, a more bashful appearance shaping on his soft features, "romance, as well.." he just barely murmured, his lips fluttering in a brief stutter towards the beginning, "Have you any advice or recommendations on an author I should look into? Or any particular books that you fancy?" his voice was growing slightly elevated in excitement, before he realized it, and toned it back down to a more respectful texture, "I am not sure if those are the kinds of genre's that you are inclined towards but... I assumed a young miss in your position might be able to at least point me in the right direction." he finished, offering a final timid smile, while his fingers clutched to themselves, honey eyes darting to the ground in mild embarrassment.

Tessa glanced down at her book, then offered a tiny yet sheepish smile. Oh! He didn't want to disturb her reading? That was...rather kind. But, he shouldn't have worried. She was on the clock, after all. "O-Oh. It's...quite alright. I was merely finding a way to pass the time away." She said with a shrug, stretching a little and sitting up straighter so she could do her job. "What can I do for you?" Though her expression may have been welcoming, her voice was slightly monotone, as if she wasn't quite sure how to respond yet trying to remain polite.

Socializing. It was not her strong point.

Folklore, fiction, and romance. Tessa regarded the young man before her, a finger tapping against her lips as she considered his request. Sliding out of her chair, Tessa straightened her skirt and stepped around the desk, gesturing for him to follow. "I may have a few ideas that would work for you." She informed him from over her shoulder, walking the familiar paths among the shelves of books. "You may enjoy The Time Machine, by H. G. Wells. A fantastic read." Tessa pulled the book from the shelf, offering it to her guest before continuing on. "Or perhaps Wuthering Heights?" Again she plucked a book from the shelf and handed it over, pausing to consider choices again. "Anything by Jane Austen should catch your eye as well."

Moving along to another shelf, Tessa paused and pulled another book off the shelf, a hand fondly brushing along the cover. "This happens to be one of my favorites. Perhaps you may enjoy it as well." The book she handed over happened to be the same one she was currently reading. The Count of Monte Cristo.

The lithe boy kept up his pleasant smile, sneaking a small peek at the pages that the woman was turned to; perhaps to maybe get an idea of what she might be reading! But he was drawn back up to eye contact as she spoke, and rose to attention. It more than thrilled Eluf as she complied to assist him, feeling his sweet smile broaden just a bit more, "I thank you kindly, miss~" he replied, turning to follow after her as she led him through the aisles.

His gazes traversed the large walls of books, idly catching a title or author once in awhile, but his attention focused back on the librarian when the picking began. The names were stored into his mind with ease, taking note of their genre's, and the section of the library they'd been found at. For future references. Soon enough his arms were being filled with books of all kinds! He'd get a glimpse of their front cover before another was stacked on. The pretty boys attention piqued a little more as Jane Austen was brought up. He loved her works... so much so that it brought a gentle tint of red to his cheeks just thinking about it. The romance was... just electricity to his romantic heart. Those would probably be read first..

As the final book was placed, his gem-like eyes skimmed across the title, before flickering up to the young lady, "I can't say that I've heard of this one before. Is it based off of a real count?" he asked curiously.
