It was odd to be somewhere with just daddy, and without the rest of her siblings. She just hoped Kyrie and Isidore were having fun with mommy, too.

Caelia was having plenty of fun, with daddy trying to teach her how to fly. It was not working, through, but that did not seem to bother the young lady any.

To be truthful, Ankou was not expecting his daughter to be able to lift off. Her wings were certainly too tiny for her... and she was a little too young to be able to compensate for it with her mana, as he had once done. Still, it would teach her how to move... Which would probably help her, later on.

He also found it odd to deal with only one child at the time - they had always kept the siblings together, but slowly they were gaining in independence - and were starting to understand that the others were just like himself and Cosine - even if they were not right there, they would return eventually.

Caelia in perticular had been quite vocal about her missing siblings. Not exactly in the best way. Toddler screaming was certainly not something he enjoyed too much.

"Just like that, Caelia." He nodded, giving one strong flap on his wings and sending a gust of wind - which amused his daughter, from the looks of it, and she tried to mimic the action. "Try to lift that leaf ?" She might be able to move it, actually...

User Image Exalla was out and about once more. She tended to stick to the greener parts of the pantheon but her time with the 'Gods' meant she'd grown accustomed to the crowded nature of the market and they to her. She'd just returned from bartering with a most interesting pile of goodies for sampling: a raw egg (uncracked), match heads, a strange milkly substance called cheese, and those absolutely delightful noodles. With the basket in hand, she was walking through the park to sit in the field when the gust of wind and motion caught her attention.

Following it, the Andalite stepped out of the bush and blinked, all four eyes fixed on Ankou. <>

It was the soft, barely audible sound of hooves brushing against the wind that caught his attention, and what he saw... Well, it was not so much that he had never seen anything quite like her before - he had been to her homeworld a few time, knew her kind. And this was definitively an andalite.

No, it was Exalla's current location that was somewhat surprising. His attention turned completely to her as she spoke. <>

His lips had not moved, but he had definitively spoken to her, in the same way she had spoken to him.

It took a few moments before Caelia did manage to lift the leaf, and she squealed in delight - only to see that daddy hadn't even been looking at her !

HMPH !

Caelia thugged on her father's sleeves, quite intent on reminding him exactly what he was supposed to keep attention to, here. Well, she did just that, until she saw Exalla.

...What was that ?

Nonetheless, with one hand still holding Ankou's clothing, she waved at the newcomer. "Hello !"

User Image The Andalite's eyes widened at that and she turned a little, hooves dancing in the grass as she regarded Ankou and his many wings. Not only was she recognized, he knew of her home?? <>

She approached, noticing the child and, keeping her stalk eyes on Ankou as she circled cautiously to look at Caelia, <> Her attention shifted to the God once more, <> It looked like the winged one could walk and speak at least. Human babies sounded and smelled atrocious so she made a concerted effort to stay up wind.

<> Luckier than she might think - many were consumed alongside Universe, souls and bodies devoured by the void, never to be found again. The thought was a chilling one, even to him. This was the kind of death, complete and absolute erasure, that mortals should truly fear.

<> A gentle correction and an elaboration - at least being familiar with her race paid off, there. At least this time, the coloring would match Exalla's known notion, as Caelia was mostly soft purples and pinks. <> He had a feeling the andalite would realize this for herself soon enough.

What Caelia lacked in the smelly department, she made up for tenfold in sheer mobility. Once she had deemed this strange... person... ? Seemed safe enough, she let go of her father and walked toward Exalla, head craning upward to examine her.

Really, this was the strangest person she had ever met ! She stopped a few steps ahead, eyes wide. "You talk funny." So did daddy, now that she thought about it ! "How d'you do that ?" And where was her mouth, come to think of it... ? How did she eat ?

Yes, Caelia was rather confused.

User ImageShe nodded slightly, the tension around her eyes and in her shoulders spoke volumes about how the event had scarred her and how deeply she knew she was lucky. The comment about the daughter and not being defenseless, however, drew the inquisitive sentient's attention as she regarded the child with interest.

<> She knew from personal experience the strength in the humanoids' shoulders - it was a novel experience when in Glaucon's form, to climb trees and see things from a perch above the world. Her own upper body lacked much in physical strength. <> Come to think of it... did Deities reproduce through sexual means like the humans and andalites? <do you reproduce? Infect... ? Uh. Well, it was somewhat the case, he had to admit - even if the host was willing. Through he knew better than to confirm or deny that out loud. <> He would have said mortal, but that did not quite apply. There were some races where the baby was on it's legs and moving within minutes - had no other choice but to be, if they wanted to survive.

<> Tera had been Wind and Hunt's daughter, but what of Kaelin's child that had showed up in the ritual ? He had not really thought about it before now.

...And Caelia clearly did not understand half of what Exalla just said. Things like DNAs and infection were clearly over her level. "It's nice. You have a nice voice." It echoed in her head all oddly, and the little goddess was clearly fascinated. When Exalla settled down she peered forward a bit to study the andalite further. Exalla was just strange enough that it occured to the child to be careful - or else she might have already tried to climb her way on her back.

Exalla probably would not have liked to be taken for a pony.

Caelia blinked, once, twice - looking up at Exalla's eyestalks. The andalite's face seemed to hold all of her attention, and the tasty treats went all but unnoticed. She reached out to touch Exalla's cheek, but stopped in mid-movement - remembering at the last second that daddy was here, and was likely about to scold her.

Drat.

"Can touch ?" She asked.

<> The tone was thoughtful but interested in further studying the mating and reproductive habits of the Gods. Energy being were as of yet a little understood phenomenon, she could at least gather sufficient information for her people, they would likely benefit from such information.

When Caelia leaned in, her eyes stuck on Exalla's face, the andalite kept one stalk eye turned to scan behind her, one on the young goddess and her main eyes on Ankou, allowing for 360 degree vision. The young one's interest was... curious. At length, she finally turned all four eyes on Caelia when she asked her question, the hand stretched out. Exalla remained silent, regarding the child for several heart beats before she nodded and leaned forward a bit, tilting her head to present a cheek.

<> One stalk eye shifted back to Ankou.

Well, now her father could not complain now ! She had asked and all, right ? When Exalla lowered herself, one small hand went to touch the andalite's cheek - thankfully Caelia seemed to know how to be gentle. She'd been accidentally pinched by her sister's beak enough to know that it hurt, after all. "Ohh..." She was fluffy - not fluffy like her auntie Echo's kitties, but indeed furry. Sunset colored eyes continued to be open wide, and the little goddess was pleased with her discovery.

Clearly Exalla was the coolest thing ever. Well, the coolest thing after birdies. Birdies were pretty cool. Still, her siblings would never believe this. Maybe she'd come home with them if her father told her to ? "Daddy, she's fluffy." She was also eager to share the discovery.

"Oh, is she now ?" Hopefully the andalite would not be insulted by Caelia being... well, Caelia. There were lessons to learn everywhere, after all. <> There were two things that Exalla could gather from this - there was a mother, and there was more than one child. <> He was more suited for exploration, and there was no denying this. Later on, he might be of better aid to his son as he discovered his powers more fully. Perhaps his nephew would, as well, now that he thought of it. <>

The child's innocent enjoyment was hard to objectify and observe, the fascination positively radiating from her. She tilted her head, exhaling softly, her nostrils flaring a bit - three vertical slits so very different from Caelia's own - and reached to touch a many-fingered hand to the goddess' own cheek. <> The correction was firm but, surprisingly, not unfriendly. Big almond eyes blinked slowly, remaining on Caelia as the second eyestalk swivveled to focus on Ankou.

This news was intriguing. They could reproduce sexually and asexually - a curious adaptation. Was it because of their energy-nature? <> She gave a nod of approval for the first sane job assignment she'd come across since arriving here. Females were best suited for the intellectual tasks - the science, the history, the theory, after all. <>

"Furry ?" The touch on her cheek was strange, but not unwelcome - or at least, the goddess did not find it intrusive enough to walk away. "Kay. Furry." She was not certain exactly what was the difference, in spite of the well-meant explanation. Wasn't it the same thing ? Oh well !

Caelia blinked, head tilting as something else caught her attention. "What's that ?" Her free hand pointed toward Exalla's tail. It kind of reminded her of a kitty's tail, but it looked nothing like it !

The subject was a little... well. Awkward, to say the least. There were not things he was usually questioned about. <> Cosine had... well. Laid eggs. But he saw no need to inform the curious andalite of that fact. He was doing an effort to answer the mortal's questions, at least, even though he quite obviously out of his element with this whole... social business. "The influence of the parents probably have some say on how the children do manifest."

A scholar, Ankou was not.

<>He had no idea if Exalla's tailblade could do damage, and he had no intention to figure it out. Which meant keeping curious hands away, thank you. <>

The andalite smiled with her eyes, the edges turned up in an unmistakeably positive expression. The way the infant so confident and casually accepted her opinion was endearing. Perhaps Caelia had some inborn ability to soften the heart of even the coldest intellectuals. <> Exalla's eye stalk twisted to follow the child's gaze and found it resting on her tail. It was coiled around, tucked out of the way, but if the infant wanted to see... there was no harm. The tail was pulled away and uncoiled, the blade rested, point safely directed down, before the goddess. At Ankou's warning she gave a mild shrug of her shoulders. <> It took great force to sink the blade into the tree as she'd done for Kios... she did not spend time sharpening the blade when the tip, used for piercing, worked just fine.

<> He tone was hypothetical but clearly lead into far more abstract thoughts she kept to herself. If it were true such a natural... natural? Perhaps that was too strong a word. Such a phenomenon would indicate that in every aspect of their biological sciences, those two 'gods' had played a key role. It was ridiculous, to think such beings could reach so far and have such influence. It brought to mind the concepts of 'fate' she'd encountered from other species' mythologies and it made her unsettled. Fate was preposterous.

It was probably a good thing that Caelia was not aware of her innate charm, or else she would have been more likely to outright abuse it. For now, through, the young goddess was still all curious, wide eyes and innocent smiles. She watched the blade curiously, but her father's warning seemed to have warded away any attempt at poking it that might have otherwise occurred. It was a really strange thing, she thought. But then, the whole of Exalla was really quite strange, in a rather fascinating kind of way. She had never seen anything quite like the andalite before. The girl reached for the satchel she carried at her side, but stopped in mid-movement as something occured to her. "How do you eat ?" She tilted her head to the side. She wanted to give the nice person a cookie, but she had no mouth ! How could she eat it then ? The question asked to her father was completely overlooked. Augury did not understand most of it, and cookies were clearly much more important.

Large almond eyes blinked at the question and then Exalla remembered it wasn't obvious how an Andalite ate. The had no ridiculous mouth parts, inefficient yet amazingly well tuned adaptation for a sense the humans had called taste. Ultimately useless, really, as pressing one's face to the ground as one ran was impractical, painful, and did little to duplicate the effect an andalite's superior biology. To demonstrate, she rocked to one side as she swept the tail around again and out of the way while extending a foreleg to press the hoof against the ground. <> Her eyes tilted again in a knowing smile - the concept had bewildered others - and gave a bit of a shrug.

<> Her attention switched to Ankou immediately when he spoke, <> The thoughtful expression the god wore spoke volumes and she didn't need the question to follow, <> She was very obviously proud of what she did - and quick to quash the idea she might be a stupid andalite too.

She ate with.... her feet ? "Uh." Yes, the child was clearly bewildered - perhaps the closest thing to being struck speechless that had ever happened in Caelia's short life. So she would put the cookie on the ground and... ? That seemed silly. She stomped her own foot down in a similar manner than Exalla had just showed her. "Like.... that ?" And she couldn't taste ? That was horrible ! How could she stand it ? Taste was everything - especially for one who did not need to eat for survival.

But then the bewildered expression vanished when Exalla went on to mention that she could taste. She had no idea what a morph was, and she certainly didn't care. The digging in the satchel resumed until she pulled out a carefully wrapped cookie - chocolate chip and a little worse for the wear, but still fresh and clearly the best offering one could ever ask for. Clearly the andalite would be pleased ! "For you !" She held the cookie upward for Exalla to take.

There was an smile - a rare thing to see, indeed - on Ankou's face at his daughter's antics. She had not gotten her charisma for him, and that much was not exactly hard to figure out. <> The goddess might as well have changed, for all he knew. Plague had seemed taken with her, but he had likewise not seen the god for years. <> That was about all he could remember.

<> He knew the word - had heard it a few times, and puzzled out it's meaning with time. This gave the Spirit Guide an idea, though. He knew his brother's absence affected Echo, and this lady was an entertainer... <> Beside Creation, of course, but as far as Ankou knew, the Twin Crown was still resting.

User ImageExalla nodded when the child stomped though her mental voice held a tone of correcting, <> When the cookie was offered, the andalite blinked and took it in her many-fingered hand, regarding it curiously, <> The expectant look on Caelia's face made it obvious she was obligated to consume the bread-like thing and so she Morphed, her features melting and contorting into a human aspect, clothing appearing across the body as if it were part of it and soon, David's form sat cross legged before Caelia and it yawned, the very action a curious thing to the Andalite. "Soup," she spoke, entertained by the sound, "Souup and bis-quii-ct. Your words are surprisingly entertaining, Goddess."

Then, without much ado, Exalla opened her mouth wide and popped the treat in, smacking her lips as her eyes went wide at the sweetness, completely distracting her from Ankou's comments and only the mention of Music - Echo - caught her attention long enough to warrant and mumbled, garbled, "Yu-sh. Know 'er. Foond meh." Enjoyment of the cookie lasted until every bit of it was consumed and enjoyed and licked from lips before she continued, grinning ridiculously at Caelia, "I have met Echo. I had not crossed my mind to request her accompaniment for dance... Perhaps I will." Thoughtful, Exalla scratched her goatee.
PostPosted: Sun Dec 30, 2012 1:30 pm

But then how did she... ? Curiouser and curiouser.

But then things got incredibly more curious. Exalla changed, and Caelia's already wide eyes seemed to widen even more - impossibly so. "You can do that too ???" She looked at her father. "Daddy ! She can change like you do ! Look !"

"They're cookies. My mommy's servants make them." She grinned. "Mommy says to keep your mouth closed when you chew. It's polite." That, and who could tell what Exalla had tried to say ? The goddess was very amused, though.

"It certainly looks like so, Caelia." Ankou's voice was amused, strange eyes full of fondness as he looked at his excited daughter. The truth was that Exalla was likely better at is than he truly was. There were parts of his self he could not change. He was no Trickery or Shapeshifting, after all.

The first part of what he had said seemed to have been forgotten in favor of cookies, which was terribly amusing. "I am certain she would be happy to. If my daughter ever let you go, that is."

User ImageExalla blinked at the child's astonishment and shook her head, a slight frown playing across her newly formed lips, "You are easily impressed child but you are correct to recognize the greatness of andalite technology." Really, she couldn't blame Caelia for her reaction once she thought about it - her people's innovation was to be envied.

"Cookies?" Exalla licked her lips, "Do you have more? They are... delishuss - delis-la-ishuss..." The andalite played with the word a moment, amused by the play of lips. Mouths were such strange things.
PostPosted: Mon Dec 31, 2012 12:16 pm

Well, Exalla seemingly had forgotten his existence, which was quite amusing in itself. Ankou would be content to watch as Caelia seemingly wrapped the andalite around her little fingers. Well, one certainly did not see that every day...

What was a tech-no-logy ? Well, no matter. There were more important matters at hand ! "Hmmm..." The girl rummaged though her basket. "Only got one left."

Caelia seemed to ponder this dillemia for a moment, but then the cookie was split in half, with one half held out for Exalla to take. "I have strawberries, too !"

User Image Exalla was reluctant to simply take the food from Caelia. She'd been reprimanded a few times when she'd forgone the formalities of exchange and taken a morsel... which, she was relieved to find, proved wise as the cookie was split and she eagerly ate the cookie.

"What are stra-wh-bherriesh?" She asked around a mouthful of the sweet. The andalite glanced to Ankou curiously, wondering if he was the guardian of such mysterious items.
PostPosted: Mon Dec 31, 2012 3:25 pm

Oh, dear. They were going to be here for a long time. Or they would be until his daughter ran out of snacks. Nonetheless, the Spirit Guide was amused - and simply leaned back to watch the scene. Did andalites all react so strongly to taste ? Perhaps. It would be like a blind man suddenly being able to see, after all.

....How could someone not have known what strawberries were ?

(The fact that she had not known what strawberries were until recently seemed to all but be ignored at this point.)

Poor Exalla ! But she was here now - and Caelia was a clever one. She could so fix this. A tiny bowl full of plump, red berries was produced from the basket. "These are strawberries ! Here !" She plopped one into her mouth, as if to encourage Exalla to do the same.

User Image Watching attentively as Caelia produced the juicy red berries, it took only a moment before Exalla took one and popped it in her mouth. A sensuous sound escaped her as her mouth was flooded with flavour and texture and juice that all but overwhelmed the andalite. Sweet, a touch tangy... she swallowed it and exclaimed her delight in wordless sound before snagging the basket and devouring a couple handfuls with no sign of stopping.
