Well, being away had been nice while it lasted. Hel immediately slumped right back into a foul, depressed mood as soon as she was back on Amity grounds. She still didn’t want to be back at the reaper dorms, and she didn’t want to be alone either…but who could she turn to? It was odd…but in a way, maybe it was a good choice too as she thought of someone. Maybe.
Hel was now standing in the demon dorms, right in front of a ridiculously polished wood door. She had a large messenger bag full of black cherry eye scream and some spoons, along with a book she was supposed to read…but eating and company sounded so much better. Why this demon, of all beings? Well…first she had some pretty choice words with her at prom…and second…Riyo just didn’t…judge. Well, Riyo did judge, okay, she really did…but she didn’t…
Ugh. Hel didn’t know how to explain it.
Maybe it was just that she felt a kinship with the demoness no matter what they said to each other, because they had both fallen into a pit.
Hel made a fist and…knocked lightly. She just wasn’t feeling it. Her braid was disheveled, and her eyes were red with dark rings underneath them.

Riyo was facing some demons of her own, as it were. the ghoul had been busily ironing something that had stayed in her closet for far too long. A very sleek looking suit. Pure black with a red tie. It was slim, almost form fitting, and an obvious ensemble the feline had never worn. It was her very best suit... One that had only been bought for a specific purpose.
What? Who? The ghoul's ears perked as there was a knock at the door. A soft, almost hushed knock. Was it Mitsu? Xiu?
No, as her red eye peeked through the crack of the door as it slowly opened, she was surprised to see a valkyrie standing at her doormat. A very... Very sad looking valkyrie.
"Sweet Sally Hel. You look like s**t." Riyo certainly wasn't going to sugar coat that fact. Especially not after prom.
Still, it didn't keep the feline from opening the door quietly and stepping aside so the reaper might come in. "What, were you dumped or something?"
... Oh Riyo.

Hel was glad Riyo didn’t open the door, take a look at her, and then slam it back in her face. Granted, she probably earned it but…she was just glad the demoness didn’t do that. “Ya, I know.” Hel replied lamely. She didn’t move right away as Riyo stepped aside to let her in, and at her question well…Hel flinched.
“…Ya. I was.” Quieter this time, and her shoulders slumped as she dragged her feet into the room. At least she had the decency to half heartedly pull off her boots and place them by the door before she stood in Riyo’s room and looked around. Floor it was. The valkyrie flopped onto it rather ungracefully.

... JACK DAMMIT SARCASM!
When Hel confirmed her half-assed excuse for a witty remark was true, Riyo's palm went directly to her face without passing go or collecting $200. How did she manage to pull these things out of the air like that? Was it fate's cruel idea of irony?
Oh well... Whatever.
"There are some chairs... Over... There." Riyo turned around to gesture towards the kitchen table but it seemed that Hel had already found herself a spot on the hardwood floor. Great. "Well alright then... I guess I'll make some tea." What did one say to a person who had been dumped? Riyo didn't ******** know. She'd never even (willingly) kissed a guy before.
Unplugging her iron first and foremost, Riyo set out to get her trusty kitten-covered tea kettle to fill with water and set on the stove. Maybe the best question to start of with was...
"So what happened, Hel?" The feline asked without looking over. She figured if the reaper had come over here, she would've expected to be asked such a question, right?
With Hel on the ground, it made her easier prey for Riyo's many cats to march over and search for affection. If you had hands for scratching, you were alright in their book.

The ghoul dropped her bag off to the side, and then flopped backwards onto the floor, all sprawled out for the kitties. Yes, come Kitties. Smother Hel. Smother Hel into non-existence with your furry non-judgmental bodies. She welcomed it whole heartedly.
Then came the question.
Another suffering sigh.
“…I did something he could not forgive me for, and our relationship was a battle he did not want to fight anymore…so the white flag was raised, and both armies gave in.” Even trying to detach with such an analogy hurt. It was the best way Hel could say it without flubbing her words though.

And the kitties were more than happy to cover Hel in unadulterated love and sheddings. Oh yes. Purrs and mews overwrote the silence that would've filled Riyo's room had the cats not been there.
It was almost disturbing to listen to Hel talk. She'd never heard her usually spunky friend sound so... Defeated. Like all hope was lost now that the two weren't together.
The stove was warming up now, and all Riyo had left to do was wait. "Sooo that's it then?" The ghoul shrugged, not entirely seeing what the big deal was. "Let me apologize in advance because frankly I have no idea what relationships are really about... But if it was a continuing battle instead of a pleasant reprieve, shouldn't you be relieved? Granted, I know you like a good battle... But it's not like Mot's never going to talk to you again, right?" She didn't see the cowboil as that spiteful. "Unless you did something that was just so godawful-" ... Maybe she shouldn't push her luck. "Eh... I don't think Mot won't talk to you again."

The reaper’s hands came up and she gave the kitties pettings and scritches, sighing deeply again.
“Ya, that is that.” She replied. “Finished…we are…done.” Hel wasn’t offended at Riyo’s lack of understanding. Maybe in a way, it was bliss. Maybe Riyo was lucky. “No…I am not relieved. You know the whole…love is a battlefield…? I liked to battle…I liked showing that I wanted to fight for us even if I am selfish b***h. I wanted…I wanted to be married to him and make him dinner every night and…and I really wanted to spend the rest of my existence with him and now I am going to be alone and bitter and SINGLE!” Hel wailed. Luckily she wasn’t in tears. Just lamenting. “…I hate feeling like I failed him. I hate that all I brought him was disappointment. I hope he talks to me again…I do not know what I will do if he does not.”
Hel sighed again and stared at the ceiling. Speaking of disappointment…that had been the source of her last spat with Riyo more or less. Hel felt like she needed to say something about it…she wasn’t sure what though. Hel rolled onto her side, facing the kitchen so that she could stare at Riyo, still petting the kitties, and thinking.

Of course Hel wouldn't be relieved. That would be too easy. While Riyo waited on the water to boil, she leaned against the kitchen cabinet and listened silently to her valkyrie friend go on and on. Selfish? Yeah, she knew what that was like... And there was something else Riyo could relate to.
"Well. I may not know what a relationship is like, but I know how it feels to disappoint everyone."
The ghoul's face dropped momentarily as she dug the topic back up, a silence falling swiftly across the room.
Until the kettle chirped.
"You know. Single is what you were when you came to Amityville, and you seemed pretty happy then." The feline mumbled and removed the hot object from the stove to pour into preset tea cups. Lavender tea was relaxing. Whether it would help such a predicament or not... Well, Riyo didn't know but she supposed it was worth trying.

Hel stared at Riyo as she brought up the subject. Ah…that was what she had been waiting for. “…You know…sometimes feeling disappointment from those who care about you is more influential and moving than hearing angry words and discipline from them. I would…rather have my friends be angry at me than disappointed.” She wasn’t sure how that was supposed to help Riyo…but it was. “…I care for you, friend…that is why I was disappointed.”
At her statement, Hel rolled onto her back once more. “…Heh. Ya. I know…that ghoul. That ghoul who knocked the seeds from your hand…she feels like a stranger…and she had wings then too…and did not know about the horrors of false reapers…all those things create a rather volatile mixture that lays on your floor.”

Riyo paused momentarily in pouring hot water to look over at Hel. "And sometimes disappointment can cause you to have unrealistic goals for everything you do in a desire to exceed someone's expectations who hold nothing but disappointment for you in the first place. Gasp, where did that come from? Oh, right. My childhood." It was more of a sarcastic snippet than actual anger. Frankly Riyo just wanted to get her point across at how much that word hurt her.
Sighing, the ghoul scratched her head before she poured water into the other cup. "I know you care, Hel. Sometimes I just worry you see me as something I'm not." Like a compassionate bleeding heart. Ugh.
Riyo threw spoons on the saucers of the cups before carrying them over to where Hel sat. It seemed like the cats understood that whatever was in that cups wasn't for them. "I don't think an extra set of limbs and ignorance were how you really defined yourself." The feline pointed out, setting the saucer next to the reaper on the floor. "And I don't think you defined yourself as a ghoul who could only live in a relationship, either. You're not one of those sad, sorry sacks of ghoul who can't carry themselves and expect a boil to carry them instead. Hel, you can stand on those two feet just fine. Nobody just forgets to walk because somebody has been helping them for awhile.." The demoness took a seat next to Hel, stirring her tea as she waited for a response.

“But as you grow, you learn what is realistic and what is not. I like to think I am a more reasonable being to hear the word disappointment from than someone in your childhood.” Hel wasn’t angry, and she wasn’t trying to argue…like Riyo, she was just merely stating how she felt about it. The reaper thought about her statement for a moment. “…No…rest assured, friend, I do not see you as something you are not…but I can see…what you could be capable of.” Hel was saying some rather…nice things for her, all things considered…
Was she dying?
The reaper rolled onto her stomach, mindful of the kitties, and took the cup that was offered to her. “…Thank you.” She took a sip, and while she usually hated tea…the warmth of it down her throat was rather nice. She watched the cat demoness over the rim of her cup as she spoke, and after a moment chuckled softly. “…Ya. You are right.”

What's realistic and what's not. "Truthfully, I still have trouble with that." Really though, Riyo had assumed she was a full grown adult at this point in her life. In reality, she was still very much a child.
Sure. Hel was much more reasonable than anything from the feline's early years... But perhaps the fact that the valkyrie was more down to earth made the disappointment sting more.
Though instead of saying anything, Riyo decided to focus more on Hel's problem. The ghoul always got mad at her for digging up the past, after all...
"You don't seem too convinced." A sip of tea shushed the ghoul momentarily. "Well. Words don't really go very far on the healing spectrum I suppose. Especially when they're not words from the person who hurt you." It didn't matter who was at fault. In the end, Mot still hurt Hel as well as vice versa. They were both victims who had sipped the poison of love one too many times, in Riyo's opinion.
"So. What is it you want from me?" Hel had to have a reason for being here. The feline raised an eyebrow as she shot the reaper a mock accusatory look. "There's not much I can do other than offer you hollow advice." Which wasn't all that hollow, truthfully.

“…Ah…it is alright…I do too.” Hel murmured. She run a thumb back and forth on the rim of the cup as a couple moments of silence went by and then looked back up at Riyo. “Heh…ya, you are right once more…I mean…” Hel paused, her brows furrowing. “…No…no they do help…they help a little…maybe not a lot…but they do.” She sighed softly. It was true…words from the right person could make or break someone…and she was very much broken right now.
Hel took another sip of tea, raising a brow at Riyo. “What do I want…?” She wanted to shoot back that people did not always want something, but that’d be a lie. She did come here because she wanted something. “…I just wanted your company, Riyo.” Hel murmured, downing the rest of her tea now.

At least Hel had been honest. Riyo hadn't expected her words to be a cure-all. If anything they were just a small bandaid on a gaping wound. It did, however, make herself feel better. Like she was trying. Doing what she could instead of standing there like a mute.
Just company, though? "Well. Honestly there's not much to do here. I don't have a ScreeV or entertainment systems. Just a record player and a computer I barely use anymore." The ghoul shrugged before inhaling the gentle scent of lavender from her cup. "I guess you can stay as long as you feel it's necessary, though.." Such an odd thing to say. Usually people came to her room to check on the feline. Not to have her take care of them. "And books. I have lots of books.."

“Ah…maybe you do not get it…so I will try explaining…I do not need to be entertained…so it is alright that you do not have much. I just take…” Pleasure? Comfort? “…It helps to soothe by just sitting here next to you. The presence of someone whom I care about…Even in silence…” At the mention of books though, Hel groaned softly.
“Ugh, I hate books.” Though as she said this, the ghoul fished around her book bag until she pulled out a large book that she was borrowing from the library. The other book Hyde had given her could not be opened…due to the…stuck pages. Hel let the book drop between her and Riyo.
It was Eat Prey Love.
“I am suppose to read that…an assignment given to me by my mentor…but ugh…Riyo I hate reading.”
