ESSENTIALS
  • Name: Eamon Gillis
  • Nickname:
  • Age: 22
  • Social Class: Artisan
  • Occupation: Weaver

APPEARANCE

Eamon is not particularly tall, to be honest. He's a respectable 5'8" or so, but he's not going to tower over anyone but the smallest at that height. Nor will he intimidate anyone with the bredth of his shoulders. He is a healthy young man, carrying a little more weight and muscle than the average, but he's not built to do damage in a fight. He wears his gingered-brown hair long enough to cover the top of his ears, but short enough that it spikes up a bit at the crown of his head when he's lost in work and forgets to tidy it. His eyes are the blue of a stone in shadow. He has one dimple in his left cheek that only appears when he's caught off guard enough to really laugh or grin.

His most distinctive feature, for all that, are his hands. Despite the fact that they are a working man's hands -- callused and scarred here and there from the occasional accident -- his fingers are long and deft and his gestures graceful.

His clothing tends to be of finer cloth, if not cut, than many. Making cloth is, after all, what he does and as such, it's to his benefit to keep his wares on display. He favors warm colors -- ruddy earth tones and browns -- that with the slight golden cast to his skin make him seem perpetually warm no matter the bite of the wind outside.

PERSONALITY

It has been said that Eamon is too serious. That's not entirely the truth of it. Yes, he can be somber -- losing his father to fever and watching his mother's hands curl and gnarl as they have do tend to strip some of the joy out of life -- but it's more that when he works he is single-minded and focused to the exclusion of most other things. The furrow in his brown is not because he's angry or upset, but because he is intent on his work.

Because he is, now, the sole provider for his mother and himself. He learned to care for the herd of surefut the family keeps and breeds as fiber animals -- and meat and milk and other things yes -- as a child, and learned from his father, a master weaver in his own right. Now he's the one responsible for making sure that the herd is healthy and his customers pleased. For making sure that his mother eats and takes medicines that at least dull the pain of her aching hands, if she can't be cured.

When he is lured out of the house to a pub or to spend an evening with friends, he is far less tight-lipped and reserved than he is in the family shop. It's the difference between his professional and his playful face. He has a good sense of humor and, though not an accomplished prankster, has a decent wit. Sometimes he drinks a little too much and is then quick to pick a fight in the defense of a slight -- real or imagined -- directed at a friend.

For the most part though, he lives a quiet life. He is hopeful that he'll find a wife, soon.

ABILITIES

Eamon can read and write, at least passably well. Given the time and opportunity, he wouldn't do either for fun, but he gets by. He can also manage sums well enough to keep track of accounts.

He can tend to his animals with relative ease, managing all but the worst sicknesses and birthings gone wrong. He also cleans and cards and spins their hair himself. He is particular about the quality of the yarn used for weaving, after all.

He takes particular pride in being able to spin and make excellent fine cloth from Marwyn fur, when he's presented with the opportunity. As he is unlikely to ever hunt one of the beasts down himself, he gets his pleasure where he can.

He has no direction sense whatsoever. Traveling even as far as the outskirts of the city makes him very nervous. He has no desire to go into the Blackwood.

HOBBIES

Eamon likes to play games of chance. Dice, cards, etc. He doesn't have a lot of extra to wager with, so he doesn't play for major stakes, but if he can find a game for barter, he'll play.

He does own a wulfkind named Saoirse. She is more a working dog than a pet, but he does have a soft spot for her and lets her sleep on the foot of his bed. She sometimes accompanies him when he visits others.
