Phoenix flexed his legs, looking down at his shining hooves. They only seemed to glow at night when the world was darkest, but as the sun was slowly starting to set they were already starting to shine. In many ways Phoenix saw them as his own little spark of magic. Unlike his siblings he had no obvious sign of his father's unicorn blood. His brother held the tail and his sister had the horn.... Phoenix however, looked more like his mother.
He looked up to the sky. The stars would shine soon, his father had tried to teach him to read them but he had yet to master it... in many ways Phoenix didn't want to be controlled or guided by the mysterious things, he wanted his own freedom, wanted to do what he wanted and when he wanted. Still, that didn't mean he didn't enjoy his fathers healing lessons. Depite his lack of features it seemed Phoenix had showed great skill at making salves and selecting the correct herbs and plants to help others, not that many of his fathers patients would let him try......
He sighed and pouted. Tonight he would wander on his own, his father and brother Sin were busy somewhere else anyway, so it wasn't as if he would be missed at all. Eyes bright with wonder he looked around... what should he do? What could he do? Tonight, in this moment, it felt as if he could do anything! Be anything!

The night was growing as Emille wandered away from her parents. She walked in between the trees where the setting sun could warm her body for just a bit longer. Her parents had worried about her wandering for the first few weeks she was outside her basket, but had been reassured when Emille managed to find her way back. Nonetheless, her parents had trained her to know which direction she was traveling in to make sure she always found her way back.
She looked up at the sky, making sure she could still see them and knew which direction her parents were in. Emille loved looking at the stars as they grew brighter and brighter in the sky. It was something that fascinated her and made her wonder what they really were and if she could ever touch one.
Emille was getting ready to turn back and find her parents when a faint glow caught her eye. She slowed down her steps and lowered her head, staring a the four glowing dots near the floor. "Maybe they're stars! Maybe I'll finally find out what they are..." Slowly, she made her way there, wondering if it were possible to frighten stars away.
When she was close enough, but not there yet, she peeked from behind a tree. Emille could still clearly see the glowing, but what the glow showed surprised her. She was still silent, but her eyes grew round in wonder, not knowing if the colt in front of her noticed her presence. "So that's what stars are... They're foals like me!" This knowledge, although false, made Emille giddy with excitement, still staring up and down at the colt silently with a smile.

Phoenix had been about to go running to find adventure when his ears picked up the soft sound of something... instictively he turned, glowing eyes shining from out his face as he searched for what had caused the noise. What they fell upon surprised him... it was another foal. From the looks of things a mare, since she reminded him of his sister... but he supposed he could be wrong about that.
His tail wagged in anticipate and excitement. Maybe this would be someone he could play with? He hadn't really had much of an opportunity to just play and be a 'foal'. Leaping and bounding towards the fair creature he stopped in his tracks just far enough away so as not to come across as menacing. With every moment the world dipped deeper into darkness, and his eyes and hooves shone brighter. "Hello." He chirped, "Do you usually come out at night too?" He asked, though of course in Phoenix's mind he was talking about the fact that his father tended to work at night due to using the stars to guide him, he was completely oblivious to the fact that this mare thought him to be a star.
His tail continued to wag from side to side, and his ears twitched. Phoenix had always been one to show all of his emotions like an open book.

Emille stared at the colt in disbelief. Not only were his hooves glowing, but his eyes were too! It was definitely something that would shock the young foal into not speaking, but her already shy-with-words personality kept her staring and smiling.
The smile on her face grew larger when the colt spoke to her. Emille nodded in excitement at his question. Unaware of possible personal space issues, she trotted up to him, motioning towards his hooves with her muzzle, then staring straight into his eyes before motioning towards the stars. She did this a few times, hoping that her wonder if the colt was a star would come through.
Not waiting for an answer but still filled with excitement, Emille trotted around the colt, happy that she discovered what stars 'were' on her own.Syaoran-Puu (( I just realized there's no way for her to say/spell her name, so... Phoenix shall learn it when Emille's parents 'call' out to her 8D... ))

Phoenix didn't mind at all when the little filly got into his space, after all he was quite use to invading others space to help them and so had given up all rights he had to his own along with that. Though maybe it also had something to do with Phoenix being rather open and trust worthy.
He noticed the girls shock at his hooves and eyes, and might have been a little embarrassed had she not obviously liked whatever she saw. Sometimes his glow made him a little self conscious, but then at the same time he wouldn't change it for the world. He rather liked being a little different. It didn't take him long however to realise the mare was trying to tell him something. Point, Point, Up. Point, Point, Up. He tilted his head to think before looking up at the stars. Oh? "Like the stars? Yes." He chuckled, realising that she mustn't be able to speak. His father had told him a little about mutes. Some where mute by choice and others were born that way.... give that she was so young Phoenix was predicting she was born that way.
Phoenix continued to smile at her, even as she started trotting around him. She was cute, and obviously excited about something, it made him get excited too. "I'm Phoenix... wha-- Ah, I mean..." He fumbled a little, what was he supposed to call her? Being mute she couldn't share her name with him, but then an idea formed, he looked up to the sky again. "Can I call you Star?" He looked back down at her, "Or maybe Andromeda?" Andromeda was his faviourite of his fathers stories. It didn't occur to Phoenix that he shouldn't have simply assumed she couldn't speak, that he shouldn't assume to give her a name that wasn't her own... but he was just so excited to see someone outside of work reasons that his excitment was getting the better of him.
He found himself turning in a circle to follow her movements, at least until he felt a little dizzy and was forced to stop. "Eh...." he blinked before laughing. "...I think I shouldn't do that."ATh e a r t It's ok XD I am use to playing a mute and interacting with Mutes so we shall just see what happens. When Maion first met Sengdroma she didn't talk... which is why he nicknamed her Moon (They were dancing under the moon). EDIT: Derp... wrote "many Andromeda" rather than "maybe" XD

"Not like... Is!" Emille wanted to open her mouth and say something, but she quickly withdrew back into herself, happy with where she was. She knew she could speak, saying small phrases to her parents and siblings, but Emille found it hard to open up to speaking to others. Emille wanted him to know that she felt like he was a star, and was quite confused when Phoenix called her 'Star', stopping her trotting around him.
"Me...? Star? I thought... I'm pretty sure Emille doesn't mean star..."
She was even more bewildered when Phoenix mentioned 'Andromeda'. Emille stared at Phoenix. She tapped her hoof twice on the ground and then cocked her head in confusion, wondering what 'Andromeda' meant. Star was easy... She wanted to call Phoenix 'Star' despite knowing his name, but what was this... 'Andromeda'.
Emille smiled at him with her eyes closed. She nudged him slightly on the shoulder before opening her eyes again. Looking into Phoenix's glowing eyes, she half pleaded with her own eyes for Phoenix to tell her what Andromeda meant. "Is this Andromeda your momma? What about... Another foal that's a star?!"
Little by little, Emille was digging herself a larger hole of confusion without really knowing it.Syaoran-Puu Edit; Your couples are all so cute... QQ <3

The reaction he got from her had Phoenix in a touch of confusion. "You don't like?" Was the only responce he could muster for a moment before wondering if maybe he should ask her rather than assume he knew what was best... after all, she was still intelligent even if she couldn't speak, right? Man, he really wished he had listened more to his father on the subject.
He shook his head, and blushed, feeling bad and worrying that he had offended her perhaps. "What would you like me to call you?" Of course after he said that he saw she was trying to talk to him again. But he wasn't entirely sure what she meant....
Phoenix allowed himself to contemplate their conversation so far, and came to only two conclusions. "Stamp your hoof for me ok? One, for you don't know who Andromeda is," The idea was a little alien to him, but given that his father only talked with confidence about the stars, medicine and his patients it wasn't as if Phoenix had heard much else from his father. "Two, for you the fact that you hate my suggestions and want me to try and guess your real name." Not that Phoenix had any clue how to do that. There were too many names, and even with a life time to guess he doubted he would ever get it right without help. A lot of help.ATh e a r t D'awwww! Thankies XD I do love my couples *chuckles* They all have special places in my heart. Poor Emille XD she is getting herself all in circles. hehhee. Cute!

"Oh no..." Emille felt horrible that she made Phoenix think she didn't like the nicknames, which wasn't true at all. She shook her head and pouted after he asked her if she didn't like them. Really, she was okay with either, but wasn't really sure how to show Phoenix...
When he got the idea of the stamping, Emille's eyes lit up once again. She smiled and stamped once, excited to have a way of communicating with Phoenix as well as finding out what 'Andromeda' was. She giggled a little bit, showing the first signs of what she might possibly sound like. The noise even surprised, since she was normally just smiling.
As for the name... Emille looked up back at the sky and then back at Phoenix, getting her own idea! She moved to where she was side by side with Phoenix. Emille paused, looking up at the sky and then looking at the ground. There was a spot near one of Phoenix's growing hooves that would be the perfect spot. With the point of her own hoof, she drew a star on that spot. Emille motioned to herself and then the sky, nodding.Syaoran-Puu They're both so friendly it's adorkable <3

Phoenix's face lit up at the enthusiastic wiggle and reaction he was getting. Especially when the mare giggled. It had surprised him that a mute could make a noise, but still, he found the sound to be rather... enchanting. He chuckled along with her, unable to resist participating in the delightful sound.
With the stomp he smiled and nodded, "Ok... well... eh..." He blushed a little again, thankful the light was low and dark as night settled in. The truth was he was suddenly unsure if he would do the story justice. Still, he tried. He looked up to the sky and tried to point with his hoof. "There... that set of four stars is Andromeda. They tell her story." He looked down at the mare beside him for a moment and grinned, "She is known as.... the leader... the brave." His expression turned sad for a moment, the start of the story was rather sad. "Andromeda's mother, the queen bragged that she was the most beautiful, even more so than the God of the seas own daughters. This angered the god and he sent his servant out to destroy the coast and the Queen's kingdom. Her husband grew desperate and so tied Andromeda to the rocks at the coast as a sacrifice to the beast that had come to destroy them. She didn't cry, even as her mother screamed in agony at her husbands betrayal." Phoenix found his eyes wandering back up the sky... what was it about this story he liked? Telling it made him feel nothing but pain.... maybe his father simply told it better? "But Andromeda wasn't left alone for long, Perseus soon found her and took pity on her... freeing her and sweeping her off her hooves to become his mate. They had seven sons and two daughters. She travelled the world with him, even into the face of danger... and when there were others that opposed her mating with Perseus she stood up for what she believed in." For a moment he paused to simply look at the four stars. "Her mate died first, and was put up there along with her mother and father. When she died she became the last star in the set... and it is said, that it was because of her bravery and honesty that the Gods sought to reward her and make her eternally beautiful. Something her mother.... would never have achieved without her."
He shook his head and looked back at her, not entirely sure how the quiet mare would take his story. Still, he liked it, liked how they all ended up together in the end. Maybe it was because he was from a broken family that he felt that way... or maybe it was for another reason. He didn't know.
Looking down he noticed that the mare was doing somthing, so raising his hoof to get a better look he couldn't help but smile at the image he saw and the action that was so clear. "You want me to call you Star after all?" He chuckled softly but nodded, "Ok, well... it is a pleasure to meet you Star." And with that he bowed, as all good gentleman should, "Let me reintroduce myself, I am Phoenix... and I am at your service." He smiled and looked back up at her.ATh e a r t Got to love their cuteness XD Plus it seems he talks enough for the two of them anyway hehehe.

Emille's smile broadened even more as she heard Phoenix laugh. She loved making people happy despite difficulties doing so. Hearing Phoenix's chuckle made her so happy inside! "Success," she thought excitedly to herself.
When Phoenix began his story, Emille moved even closer to him and made sure to hear every word that he was saying. The curiosity in her was so large that if she missed something in the story, she'd want to hear it over and over again until she knew it all!
She was a little bit surprised to see Phoenix sadden at the beginning of the story, but was glad to see his reaction develop throughout the story. It seemed to her that he had some passion while telling the story, but didn't really know why. When Phoenix ended, she looked at him with pleading eyes, wanting to know more about him and why he seemed to love the story so much!
Hearing her new nickname 'Star', she smiled and nodded. It was quite a pretty name, and she thought herself undeserving. If she had agreed to Andromeda... Emille knew she would be even more undeserving of the name! She giggled at the bow and wanted to do something in return. Gently, she snuggled him on the neck just a little bit, smiling and blushing just a tad.

When Star moved forward to hug him he was surprised.... no one usually held him, as strange as that might have sounded. A few seemed put off by his glowing eyes and hooves, as if there was something wrong with him. Some saw how his father and brother were and simply kept their distance, finding alternative ways to touch to thank them for their aid.
So this was... strange.... nice, but certainly strange.
He didn't know what to make of it for a moment, his little body stiffening, at least until he realised something. This silent mute probably had no other way to express herself, his father had told them that many found other ways to communicate, perhaps this was her way. He relaxed somewhat with the thought, though he didn't know if he should hug her back or simply stay still. Going with the latter, he cleared his throat with a soft mumbled cough.
"Star....?" He started, suddenly a little apprehensive for her as a thought crossed his mind. "Isn't it dangerous being out here all alone when you can't call to your family for help?" Phoenix at least knew that he could kick and scream and shout and make so much commotion that it was likely to disturb someone who might rise to his aid, but Star was silent.... it wasn't the same for her, was it? Concern furrowed his brows slightly and he suddenly felt some great need rise up with him. "Would you like me to walk you home?" He didn't mean right now, simply when it was time. Safety in numbers and all that. Plus, by walking her back he would at least know she was safe and that he didn't need to worry too much about her.

Emille had noticed that Phoenix seemed to harden a little bit at her touch, but she wasn't really sure what it was. Phoenix had seemed okay with it at first. She backed off a little bit, however. It hadn't been the first time that someone wasn't the best at being touched. Emille still had on the warm smile, trying to show him that she meant well.
When Phoenix asked about her and getting in trouble, Emille realized she had never thought about it. Everyone she had met so far seemed to be nice and welcoming to her and the thought of danger never really crossed her mind. But it also wasn't like she didn't know the way back to her parents if she met someone that wasn't that friendly. Emille had been a wandered every since she first popped out of the basket so her parents taught her early on how to find her way back. She looked at him with her head cocked to the side and shrugged her shoulders just a bit.
She wanted to tell Phoenix that she had yet to be lost as well as get into some sort of trouble, but Emille knew that her friend meant well, and with the light disappearing, it might be better if she did head home. Emille responded to the walk home with a nod, and took a few steps forward, confident in which way was 'home'. Using one of her hooves, she pointed in the direction her parents were in, at the same time, wondering about Phoenix's.
Emille pointed to herself and then in the direction of her parents. Then she pointed to Phoenix and then cocked her head to the side in question. "I hope that if he brings me home that he can find his way too!"
