Amphi held her sister's hand tight as they walked the school grounds. She pointed out some things, then commented on others as they passed. Undine let her sister ramble as they headed further away from the school and towards what looked like ruins of a sorts of festival...
"What happened here?" Undine mused as she threaded her way through debris and colored ruins of booths.
"Ah, The festival...it was ruined..." Amphi said sadly, "But I won a lot of fish pets here so It was not all that bad."
"Your very vague with the whole describing of the damage...." Undine's ear fins perked as she heard something, the sound of crunching debris of sorts.
"Ah..." Amphi's ears perked to as she clung to her sister. Another monster?!? They headed through more debris, passing by an old Cyrpt and the remenants of a...stage? "Oh...." Amphi blinked as she saw a familiar mohawk of purple. "ROCH!!" She yelled, letting her sister go.
Undine watched as her little turtle took off towards the boils and frowned. Her face was stern as she followed the ghoul, thinking that this was one of the boils that Amphi had an attraction too. Well...Perhaps she could learn more by sitting with the boil...

The area that Amphi headed into had rows upon rows of seats, some that looked pretty messed up. The punk boil himself was standing on a large wooden stage, wearing a pair of baggy jeans, boots, and a white wife beater. He had a crowbar in his hand and was prying one of the boards of the stage up with it. He was tall, over six feet, and muscular without being bulky, but it was his purple mohawk and silver studs that stood out the most--only followed by the black music patterned tattoo on his right upper arm.
He glanced up curiously as he heard the should. "Um... hey," he said. Who was her friend? They sure looked similar--
Oh jack, TELL me that's not her relative, he thought.

"Hi!" Amphi bluntly said as she travelled down the row of seats and stared up at him on the stage. Did she feel awkward? Yes, especially with her hands laced behind her back and a flush on her cheeks. She remembered her talk though with Undine though, and her blush deepened as she looked him over.
"Are you going to work on this?" Obvious question was obvious.
Undine on the other hand had come to stand behind her sister, her arms crossing under her breast as she cocked her head at the young man. Dangerous, was the first word to come to mind. Rebellious as well. If looks were all Undine would judge a character on, Roch would be booted a long time ago.
"Amphitrite, it's rude not to introduce your friends to me." Even though Undine heard the ghoul yell his name, she wanted her sister to stop oogling the boil.
"Oh! Oh Roch..." She looked between her sister and then Roch, "Oh I mean. Um...Roch this is my older sister Undine....and Undine this is my friend Roch....the one I told you about." Amphi smiled, "I didn't realize that you were working here?"
"A pleasure to meet the friend that Amphi is so fond of." Undine continued to stare at the boil, her face stoic and aloof.

"Nice to meet you, Ms. Undine, I'm Roch Scythe," Roch said, giving her a grin that said he knew EXACTLY what she was thinking. "The Boss--Nox, he's my mentor, had me come here one night," he explained. "It just seemed a shame to leave this place all torn up. A stage is somethin that should be respected, right?" he told them.
"So I figured I'd work on it this weekend. Replace some boards, see if I can't clean up some of the chairs. Although thinkin' back I might should have brought some help with me," he admitted. "Eh, I'll call in some boils if it gets too much. What are you two up to?" he asked.

Ah, He was quite charming with that smile. Sad for Roch though, Undine was FAR from being charmed like her little sister.
"A pleasure to know a Scythe...." She had briefly heard of the reaper family, but with so many land-walkers around, and for her to be in the sea, It was more of a recognition of the name. She continued to study the boy while Amphi clambered on the stage.
"Is it safe to stand on?" Amphi crawled her way up to come stand by the boil, still staring at him, she briefly wondered why she liked the appeal of looking at the boil....it must come with attraction? "ah...Is Nox your mentor?" the mermaid questioned, "I suppose if it is where music should be held, then yes! A stage must look a lot nicer then this!"
"Amphi, my little turtle...." Undine's voice beckoned the smaller mermaid over, "do you mind terribly...I am very parched and we have been walking for awhile. Will you go back to the school and grab us some drinks? Perhaps your friend who is hard at work would like one too?" Undine smiled as Amphi nodded vigorously. "I'll wait here for you to return...try not to get lost either..."
And like that, Amphi got off the stage as fast as she got on, waving and promising her return soon.
In the meanwhile, Undine had gone back to studying the boil.
"So Roch Scythe....It seems my little sister has taken quite a likening to you..."

Roch hesitated, then gently put the prybar down and headed for the edge of the stage, sitting on it. "This is where I get the talk, huh?" he said, going straight to the matter. "Amphi's sweet, but she's naive, she's better off not spending time with an obvious trouble maker, that sort of thing? Jack have I tried to tell her that SO many times," he said, shaking his head.
"Look," he said. "I like Amphi," he told her, the words "a lot" seeming to linger unsaid. "She's gentle, she's fun, jack, she's downright adorable, but she's hardheaded. Maybe you can tell me how to deal with that without hurtin' her feelings?"

Undine only show of surprise was a small movement of her head to the side as he came to sit in front of her. Ah, to be so youthful and free.
Eyeing the young boil, she listened to him careful before smiling.
"There is no way to 'deal' with it when concerning Amphi. She is a young ghoul, one coming into age of certain things...." Undine tapped her foot as she contemplated on how to go about seeing just how this boil was.
"I find that sweet of you to be concerned with her well being, and I would've asked harder for you to continue your efforts in pushing her away. Especially if you are aware how....naive she really is..."
"I am more interested in getting to know you instead, little reaper. Your attire is offsetting to your person..." She came to reach out and tap the shoulder tattoo, "But I am from a older generation and do not know the fashions of landwalkers now. When you say trouble maker...What do you mean?"
"Have you ever hurt Amphi? Physically?" Undine's eyes darkened, though her demeanor remained cool.

He blinked. "Gimme a second, lemme line up the questions so I can answer them," he said, holding up a finger. "My best friend and Amphi, they're a LOT alike, course Danny likes to hit when I irritate her, but they're both pretty... naive, like y'say," he said.
"As for the clothes--the white's for mourning, I recently found out I lost a family member, the pants are cuz things tend to splinter when you're takin' them apart, the piercings are cuz I like how they look, and they irritated my dad when I was younger--now he just ignores them. The tatt is for a friend--actually a pair of friends of mine, who only see ink, so they can see me comin, the mohawk is cuz..." he reached up, touching his mohawk and grinning.
"I like it. And why would I ever think of hurtin' Amphi?" he asked blankly. "The only ghoul I'll spar with is a valkyrie, and she has a habit of kickin' me in the balls. Oh, and Danny, but she kicked my a** flat out. Fire demons can get scary, y'know?" Why was he telling her all this? Eh, it wasn't anything too deep.

Undine listened to him thoroughly explain his clothing choices and then laughed.
"so there is no image to be upheld by your clothing. Your not trying to fit a bad boy image." She tapped her lips, curiouser and curisoser. "What excatly makes you....A bad boy then?"
"Your best friend....is the Danny ghoul? Amphi is quite fond of her as well..." Ah so they knew each other through mutual friends as well. "That being said...."
"You've never once thought of physically hurting her? What about mentally Roch? Do you play games with her that might...confuse or hurt her there instead?" She waved her hand, nose crinkling. "Valkyries and demons are trained for battles, Mermaids not so much. We tend to be a lot weaker when we fight....It is good to know that this...Danny, This fire demon is friends with Amphi, she needs strong friends...."
"I'll be blunt though since you have answered honestly....." Undine stared at the boil, "What do you think of Amphi, Little Roch? She has told me that you once told her that you were attracted to her...." Undine crossed her arms. "Do you feel the same now? Or are you worried because there is another...boil that Amphi has feelings for?"

Yet another wall of questions. "Y'know," he said, "I didn't even know there WAS a bad boil image until recently," he admitted. "But I AM a bad boil, although I've been tryin' harder not to break laws--I don't wanna get kicked out. But I grew up in a gang back home. I got a rough past and a juvie record," he said honestly.
Then he frowned. "I mighta hurt her, mentally," he admitted. "Tryin' to keep her from chasin' me around. But she barely knew me, and she was insistin' that we had to be friends--like, to the point where she followed me to my granddad's place, which is in a really rough neighborhood. It was--still is, sometimes, frustrating tryin to figure out how to keep her from doin' stupid stuff and not hurtin' her feelings at the same time."
Then he looked at her, straight in the eyes. "Yeah, I'm attracted to your sister. But does she deserve to have a punk from the wrong part of Halloween chasin' after her, or gettin' jealous if she's got a better prospect? Nah, I don't think so." He stood, grabbing his prybar again. So she DID have feelings for Thana. At least he knew before asking her to Spookyland.

"There is always a bad boy image, the only to change is the clothing style." She rubbed her eyes as she stared at the boil. "Well I applaud you for attempting some civitality in not breaking the law....or dragging Amphi along with your...."
It seemed she spoke to soon, "Well...." Her eyes darkened again, "it is lucky for you that unfortunately, my sister is as you say....stubborn. I find it no surprise that she would attempt to follow you in order to get to know you. And to a rough neighborhood? Since she is in one piece, I am assuming that you took care of her there well..."
"Well, I will continue to be honest with you then. I do not approve of either of you boil's that she seems to be set on." She glared, "Whether or not you are a punk from the wrong part of town, or the heir to a clan of future seeing reapers, My little sister deserves the best or no one... preferably no one."
"It is a shame that you seemed limited by this....self inflicting doubt in you though." She flipped her hair over her shoulder and smiled, "Perhaps I don't have to actually worry about you doing anything to Amphi then. Especially when you shoot yourself down so easily." She didn't gentle her tone from the blows. "It is a little more comforting to know that while Amphi thinks fondly of you, and while you may be attracted back, You won't do anything about it..."

He opened his mouth, about to explain more things--then he just stared at her. "You would do that?" he asked finally. "You would prefer that she was never loved--except by you, for the rest of her life? Hell, I sort of understand wantin' to WAIT, we're still scarelings when it comes down to it, but forever?" he asked, putting the prybar down again and heading for her.
"If anyone deserves to be loved, it's Amphi. If anyone deserves to have someone willin' to go to hell and back for them, it's her. And I ain't just speakin' romantic crap, I've been through hell," he told her. "I'm a hob. That just means I've been through it at least three times."

"I would do this yes..." Undine continued to keep her chin up, defiant and strong. "My little sister needs nothing but her clan. Love is short lived and dies in a instant." She breathed in remember her own lover and smiled sadly, "It is not worth the pain that she should bear....Ever."
"Those are odd words coming from you though, The boil who doubts he deserves the same thing." Undine rose her head again, "I don't see anyone rising to the occasion for her, even though she will do the exact same for anyone else..."
"You have not seen hell boil, until you have been faced with the pain and suffering that love leaves behind. I, once, was in love. And it devastated me. Tore me open." her head shook. silver hair cascading with her.
"No. My sister is safe with the love of her sisters. I have taught her of attraction, Little Roch. And it is safe to say that she is attracted to you....But love? She barely even knows what that is. Let her keep her naivety. Step away from her and pretend that all you want from her is friendship then..." Undine looked at him, "That's all you can hope for, for this fruitless endeavor."
Here ear fins twitched at the far sound of Amphi's gait.
"Since you seemed so inclined to think that you are not the one to love Amphi, I would ask that you be honest with her. If she tells you of her attraction, turn her down and ask for friendship instead." She smiled sadly again, "Or it will not be just Amphi who will get hurt in this. it will be you, and this Thanatos...."

"You're right," he said quietly. "I haven't lost someone that loved me--my mom didn't give a s**t about me when she walked out. But I lost someone that I know for a jackin' fact WOULD have loved me like that. So which is more painful, knowing love and losin it, or knowing that you COULD have been loved and never havin it?" he asked her. But it didn't seem like an accusation. Instead it seemed like an honest, heartbroken question.
He shook his head. "You really think I give a s**t about bein' hurt?" he asked abruptly. Why had he? The question seemed to play in his mind. Just because he sucked at the stronger stuff--he'd never backed down from a fight. He'd even gone up against upperclassmen just to see how hard they hit. A memory of the flaming dice raced through his mind, then one of Invi looking so calm as he just slaughtered him. But those were physical. This was emotional.
He wasn't--
"If anything," he said slowly, looking her straight in the eye, "only one person would get hurt if two guys that she's attracted to went after her. But I've been killed too many times to care about that." Then he grinned, almost joyfully, as if he'd just figured it out himself. "Let Amphi decide for herself, Ms. Undine. Let her live her own life, even if it includes pain."
HIS pain.

Undine merely stood there until the Reaper finished his rant. Her temper easing away into a cool annoyance. But before she could respond, Amphi appeared at the top of the stage, bouncing down.
She took quick strides to Roch, leaning over where he sat and whispered in his ears, in case her sister tried to listen.
"I'll do as you ask Little Roch, Let my sister take her life for her own, but should my sister come back to me brokenhearted....I will find both you and Thanatos, and you will regret the day you met the Queen of the pisces clan..." She cocked her head up as Amphi finally joined them.
Amphi on the other hand had heard enough from her distance. She wasn't sure how to act though as the words replayed in her head. She derserved to have someone love her, and she should decide it herself.
But Roch was right. And Undine was right. She was setting herself up to be hurt, worst she was setting up Roch for taking the blame for it. This was such a mess...
"I got you guys some booberry tea...." The smaller mermaid offered, her arms full of bottles as she looked at her sister. "If you don't mind Undine....Can you head back to my room?"
Undine frowned as she recognized the tone, reaching out to touch Amphi. "Are you sure-"
"Yes thank you." Amphi smiled at her sister and moved away. "I'd like to talk to Roch now....'
Ah....Undine sighed...so her sister heard. It was a shame that their ears didn't allow such privacy. Sending one glare at the Reaper, a warning, she took her bottle and leaned down to kiss her sister on the cheek. "I will await you in your room then."
She waited until Undine disappeared over the stage before looking at Roch. Her face blooming with a blush. Ah...now what did she do?
