The dark of night.

It was the perfect time to play. Many found the darkness as the time to rest but this was not true in Azkadellia's mind. She thrived in the darkness. It hid her from sight. Although if one really tried; the angeni mare would not be hard to find. Azkadellia knew that and still preferred keeping her activities limited to the night hours or really dark places. It was literally her time to shine. The ghost fire that flared amongst her skin; and in the little spheres of light that she was able to manifest brought others into her presence. She toyed with these other beings before simply disappearing. It was a rather long game of hide and go seek. She’d always hide and be sought. However she would never be found. It was how she liked to operate. She was the mystery that would never be solved. Or so it seemed.

Something had changed. That much was clear. Azkadellia still toyed with other Soquili. But something continued to chide inside when she played her games. There was a lingering seed of doubt that made her question her antics. Why had it appeared now? Was it because of meeting Shalar? The troubled stallion was never far from her thoughts. Why was he still invading her thoughts? The mare had no answer for this. She couldn’t question his actions on the night that she had come across his path. That night had led to something that she couldn’t explain. Someone else had valued her life above their own. She had felt cherished. She still did to this day.

Azkadellia waited in the shadows once more. She was not waiting to lure a stranger in to play. She wasn't even sure if anyone else was around. No, there was something that Azkadellia had wanted to do for a long time. Since her nightly activities ended just before dawn she always found herself too tired to wait for the sun to rise. That would change today. The skies were lightening in the east and she stood immobile against a massive tree. The forest was coming alive with the chorus of birds. The mare gave a small sound of pleasure at the thought of changing her routine; if only for one day. She would treasure this moment until the next new experience came along.

Perhaps she'd even share this moment with another in the future. For now though it was only her this day. The sun's rays struck her eyes as she continued to watch in silence. The darkness that always hid her form was chased away by the brilliant light. Azkadellia took a few hesitant steps from the relative safety the forest had always provided for her before flicking her wings open. She was a living shadow at that moment.

It was another beautiful sunrise. Azkadellia was getting used to this. She took in the clean scent left over from last night's storm and gave a soft smile. Something had changed again. Recently Shalar had been on her mind a lot more than she would have liked. He had called her his inner darkness. At the time she had been confused over that statement. The confusion still lingered but she couldn't seem to get that night out of her head. There had been confusion, danger, intrigue and finally it seemed like magic all rolled into one.

The sight of her lights mixing with the butterfly figments had left her feeling breathless. By morning she had talked very little to Shalar but he had seemed deep in thought as well. She felt comfortable in his presence and that was alright with her. Maybe it had been enough to forge a connection between them; one that ran deeper than she had thought.

Was it love that she was feeling? As the sun continued its ascent into the sky Azkadellia mused on her situation. Being alone for as long as she had been she was unsure of this warm feeling that occurred every time she thought of Shalar. Before she had no need to develop connections with other Soquili. She had been fine sticking close to the forest that she had called her home and kept herself amused by toying with others. It paled in comparison now. She wanted to find Shalar and question him further. He would know the answer. He would have to.

Her mind made up on her next course of action Azkadellia sighed softly before retreating to the forest's outer fringe of foliage. The storm had rinsed the earth in healing waters and Azkadellia was certain that the small pond she had found within would be a nice place to relax by for the day.
