Reminder: these matches are one pokemon per person, but like a Gym battle you'll roll to see who goes first before sending out pokemon. It doesn't matter what order you post those introductory/order-rolling posts. The battlefields are a plain concrete floor, no bonuses or penalties to anyone. I would like it if people finished their fights in three weeks or less, purely in the interest of keeping this tournament moving, but it's not required.

Zinnia entered the stadium with all three of her trusted pokemon safely tucked away in their pokeballs attached to her belt. It was only on rarer occasions that she did not let at least two of her three pokemon roam freely outside of their balls, but in battles that she took more seriously, she and they understood that the element of surprise could be a key factor. She would give her opponent as little time to prepare a counter plan as the rules of the match would allow. She gave a confident, self-indulging smirk as she took a firm stance, ready for the battle to begin.

 Zak walked into the arena. His trusty golbat on his shoulder, when it was a Zubat the thing had a tendency of taking refuge on his head, however they had recently come to a compromise, and that was his shoulder. Even though he was a serious trainer and often battled quite a bit with his pokemon in the arenas he felt that if his pokemon wanted to be out of their pokeballs he let them. He took to the opposite side of the stadium as his opponent, though he still didn't know who he wanted to use yet, Zue or Flora. Zue had more experience of battle, however Flora was stubborn, which in his mind made them both good choices to go with.

It took a while of contemplating but he had finally decided which pokemon he was going to use in this match. "Alright Flora your up!" he called out tossing the horsea's pokeball into the air. Weather they won or lost this one he wanted to give the horsea a bit more experience battling.  Her body emerged from the ray of light which was emitted from the pokeball. "Horsea! Hor!" she called out determined ready for the battle.

 "Okay!" Zinnia said after examining the foe's pokemon. "Zyk, you're up!" She tossed out a pokeball, and her favorite gray zubat burst out with a supersonic cry. He carefully used his echolocation to check out the plain stadium and to identify his opponent. He then took his place on the field, rising and falling with each stroke of his wings.
"Ready when you are!" she called across the stadium.

"we are always ready" Zak called back. Zak watched as his opponet sent out a Zubat. He had lots of experience with them especially since Zue used to be a Zubat. He knew their weaknesses and strengths and Flora was the perfect opponent for the bat. "Alright Flora lets start out with a Blizzard!"
"Horsea!" she spoke enthusiastically acknowledging her trainer's command. It wasn't be for long that the air temperature had dropped in the stadium immensely and snow began to fall from the sky. A blizzard began to rage within the stadium.

"Zu!" Zyk squeaked as he was hit with a powerful attack right off the bat.
"C'mon, Zyk!" Zinnia called out. "Use Giga Drain!"
Zyk regained some height by pumping his wings quickly before he used the grass-type attack, aiming to steal some of Flora's health.

Zak had nearly forgotten about the only grass move that a Zubat could learn until their opponent had used it. Maybe he should have gone with freezing their opponent first, but Flora had looked fired up. Besides she seemed to hate all flying creatures, even Zue often still got attacked by her at random. "Flora lets freeze it this time with another Blizzard!"
A determined look crossed the horsea's face as her beady red eyes stared up at the flying creature. Those moveable free flying creatures she envied. At the command the water pokemon began to call forth another blizzard. This time aiming to freeze her opponent solid.

Zyk's limbs suddenly locked and his wings iced over. He did not glide as much as plummet to the stadium floor, but he managed to avoid further injury despite the hard landing. He struggled with all his might to regain his freedom of flight, but he found himself quite stuck and helpless.
"Hang in there!" Zinnia called down to her poor zubat. Things were already looking bad for them, but they weren't quite out for the count yet.

A slight smile grew across the male's face as the ice covered their opponent's wings dropping it to the ground. "Flora, now is the time lets lower its defense with a flash cannon!"
"Sea!" it cried out it little body began to tighten. Soon from its 'mouth a flash of light was shot out at her opponent.

Zinnia bit her lip, but there was nothing she could do. She watched anxiously as her little zubat began to struggle against the melting ice that bound his limbs. "C'mon..." she muttered.

Good it was still Frozen. You never knew how long a pokemon would stay frozen until it freed itself from its icy prison. "Flora use another Blizzard." He commanded.
Once more she began to whip up a mighty cold wind. As the air cooled the arena became encased in blowing snow.

"Confuse Ray!" Zinnia shouted desperately. After poor Zyk took yet another critical hit, it seemed that their opponent had the battle in the bag. But they couldn't give up yet.
Zyk struggled back into flight and released an oddly-colored orb that whirled around Flora's head.

"Flora watch out." Though it had already been to late. The poor little horsea had been hit with the rays. "Come on Flora we can do this. Lets try another Blizzard!"
Her head was now spinning, and she could hardly focus her eyes upon her opponent. When her trainer's voice cut through the clouds in her head yet another Blizzard began to form in the arena
