 Nakita wandered through the woods of the Flock, her mind not really concentrating on the task she was sent to achieve; she was worried about her sister Kaia, who seemed to be acting different. She was planning something, but what was it? The winged harpy froze in her tracks, she was being followed, she mentally chided herself and cast her gaze about, trying to find the culprit; a sigh of relief emerged when she recognized the red and gold pelt of her familiar Devlen, “Don’t sneak up on me like that. And while you are here, I want you to watch Kaia. I fear she may attempt something stupid.” The little prairie dog nodded his head and scurried off into the woods. One less worry.
Returning to the mission, Nakita concentrated upon the earth, looking for the trail of her prey; it was a simulation, a practice training session to test her skills and determine if she was prepared for the next level of training. Of course she was ready, she had been training her whole life to become a warrior of the flock and would not let the impediment of lack of claws deter her. Truth be told, she no longer noticed that she was clawless, even if she could not yet fly, her wings had helped her in the many training regimens she endured happily.

 Galla Sile moved through the leaves gently as her wings fluttered as subtle as wisps of wind. It was easy to move at this size, easy to not be seen. It was easy to practice stalking and scouting. She wanted to do well when it was time to try out for her chosen position in the Flock. Her eyes caught sight of a bright, unnatural shade of blue. She hopped to another limb and watched. It was then that she realized it was her friend Nakita. For moment, she was torn between continuing following her or revealing herself. It would be fun to keep hiding...but. Galla wasn't sure why, but she brought herself back to full height and landed a few feet way from Nakita, "Hey!" Her friend looked troubled.

Silver eyes widened as she looked upon Galla, so she was being followed and it was not just Devlen. Nakita smiled at her friend, “Hello Galla. Been training?” The blue filly pushed her worry to the back of her mind; she did not want Galla to know she was worried about Kaia. Soon she would find out the truth about what her sister was trying to accomplish, and until then, Nakita would have to pretend that nothing was bothering her.
"You know, that is a helpful skill you have there, shrinking yourself down. I almost did not sense you following me,” Nakita added it to her list of things to practice, she need to be able to sense even the smallest of creatures that were following her.

Galla lowered her blue eyes lightly in the onslaught of the sun through the leaves. "Yeah, I don't want to fail or disappoint everyone. I want to be useful, you know?" She tilted her head at her friend. She was acting a little different, maybe she'd just surprised her was all. These tests and trials were getting to her too-it'd taken awhile to learn how to stay small for long, awhile to do it to begin with.
She giggled, "I wasn't sure if you knew I was there or not. I was going to sneak on you more, but I...well, you looked tired--like maybe you need a friend." She didn't know what to say exactly, "Is everything...okay?"

Nakita nodded her head, completely understanding the stress of the need to belong to be useful to the flock, “Are you close to the end of your training?” Each individual had specific training for which position in the flock they wished to obtain. Nakita bit the inside of her lip, she was a terrible liar to those she called friends, she really needed to work on her acting skills, “Yes, everything is okay, there is nothing to worry about… just stressed about training, that is all.” She gave Galla a reassuring smile.

There was more to it, she could tell...but Nakita never kept anything from her except when it involved her sister Kaia. It hurt a little, weren't they sisters also? But it was different, she supposed. Just like Arahel was her blood...but she loved Nakita just as much which was why she wouldn't push her. She'd come to her when she was ready.
"A few more months, before I can start. Then longer before I can do it on my own. What about you?" She paused. "It's stressful, but I love it at the same time. We'll make it through though."

Why was she lying to Galla? Well it was not really lying flat out, but lying by omission. Nakita knew that something was going on with her sister Kaia, but did not want everyone else to know what her sister was planning. Kaia would not do anything reckless… right? Taking one look at Galla’s disappointed expression had Nakita wanting to open up and tell her sister of blue wings everything; all her hunches, the constant worries, the annoying sense that what Kaia was doing pertained to the Sperm Donor. But Nakita could not put that burden on Galla’s shoulders as well, she had enough to worry about with training. The young filly could talk about training, it would draw her mind away from the troublesome thoughts about her sister, “A few months as well, have a few skills that I need to hone,” She admitted with a chagrined smile, “still can’t fly, for some reason it just keeps giving me difficulty.” Nakita smiled at her closest friend in the flock, “Yes we will."

Galla fluttered her wings lightly, "I've gotten better. I just...haven't gotten use to changing directions or...landing yet." She gave a grimace, "Kind of...hurts." She listened intently to Nakita talking about her problems flying, her eagerness to learn.
"We can do it," she smiled. "We can do anything together. Have you decided what you want to do officially? I think...I'm going to be a guard. I just want to be able to protect the flock." That was her goal, her most ardent desire was to be able to protect those she loved.

Nakita looked at her friend’s blue wings, they appeared so delicate, it was surprising that something with the appearance of being flimsy could be strong enough to keep a filly hovering in midair, “Well those will come to you soon, just like your shrinking ability. That skill will be incredibly helpful with being a Guard, and capturing unsuspecting stallions,” Nakita gave her sister a large grin, even young, Nakita could see that Galla possessed an unusual beauty, one that would lure the stallions, causing them not to even be captured strategically, for they would follow her on their own accord.
"I have been aiming for Guard as well, I think once I have the capability of flight, I would be able to use that for our advantage and keep a lookout from the sky. I am also considering Huntress; I will need to make the choice soon.” Nakita imagined herself as a Guard, standing next to Galla, protecting the Flock from those that would wish it harm; she smiled, the future appeared bright and shinning. With a smile, Naktia forgot about the trouble with her sister and was once again excited training and the future she had in the Flock. Nothing could cast a shadow upon the dream the young filly held, and at that moment, she did not have the faintest idea that her dream would never come into being.

Galla Sile fluttered excited. She could feel the current of excitement running through her. Nakita and her would be legends, there would be songs and dances to their honour of how well they defended the Flock. They would capture gorgeous stallions, be best friends, and they would fight together no matter what the odds. She'd always be able to depend on Nakita, always.
It was perfect, just like she'd always imagined it. "I hope you're a guard like me, we can have adventures." They would be amazing. She could see it now, almost.

At that moment Nakita made the decision to become a guard, leaving behind the idea of Huntress, it would be more fun to guard the Flock than it would to provide food, even if that was an important job. She would leave that one to the mares who had claws, they would make less of a mess than Nakita. “Guards we will be together! Protecting the flock from those who wish it harm! Sisters of wings for life!” Nakita smiled at Galla, the excitement was flowing through her veins, making her giddy.

Galla couldn't help but be excited when Nakita made her decision. She was going to be a guard with her. She'd be a guard with her best friend, what more could she want or even ask for?
Nakita was more than a sister of the Flock to her. There wasn't supposed to be a difference, but she felt like a real blood and flesh sister. She knew that Nakita had her back better than anyone else.

"Forever isn't long enough, not for us." She wiggled excitedly. They were going to be legendary. They were going to be extraordinary together. There would be nothing they couldn't do and they would never, ever leave each other. They were best friends, sisters of blue wings.

In her mind’s eye Nakita could see all the wondrous things that she and Galla could accomplish and all the things that they would do as guards of the Flock together. Nakita did not know that her vision of the future would prove false, only one of the two friends would remain in the Flock and become what each had fervently hoped to achieve.
To Nakita, Galla was her sister, just like Kaia, blood or not, their friendship was one that would last throughout time. The blue filly smiled at Galla, excitement was running through her veins making her want to fly, which she knew that she could not do until she found the right teacher to show her the techniques, “No it is not! We will be known within the Flock for all the great deeds will achieve!” Nakita did not suspect that she would be known in the Flock for another reason.

Not even a shadow of a doubt crossed Galla's mind about the future. She had no idea that in a very short amount of time, she would be fractured and almost desolate feeling after Nakita's leaving the Flock. But for now, no idea of it crossed her mind--it was too far-fetched that her sister, the one who loved her most in the world would ever possibly leave her.
"Of course," she smiled. "We'll be legends--together."

The day seemed go grow brighter as the two of them looked to the future, there was hope and excitement. In that moment nothing could go wrong; they were young and they were sisters of the blue wings for life.
“Legends together forever and always Galla.” Nakita gave her friend one of her biggest smiles, she could have never asked for a better friend and sister; they will have many more wonderful years together.
It was a good thing that Nakita did not know that in a week’s time, she would be walking away from the flock without a word to those she cared about. For it would have ruined the sense of love and enjoyment the two fillies shared at that moment in time.
