The Guarding Forest is home to the Elves. It is here in secrecy they dwell, making the forest itself into their houses. Upon first entering the forest the trees are younger and seem to be just like any other tree. But as one ventures further it is evident that this Forest is magical. The trees grow much thicker and taller the closer one gets to Ellesméra. A male elf known as Gilderien the Wise, Prince of House Miolandra, Wielder of the White Flame of Vandil, and the Guardian of Ellesméra. None may pass until he permits it.

Alena "The Nightingale" Neyarixxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Alena had left Nyäel and Lyre to themselves, allowing them to converse with each other freely. There was still some time before they would reach Gilderien the Wise, and Alena needed the time to think. If there was indeed something strong enough to destroy her people and the dwarves were the ones who uncovered, would it be the dwarves who would undo them? Alena's thoughts went to Gunnarr, but she banished them immediately. They had known each other for many years and were bounded together through the Riders. He would not betray their allegiance. Her face showed no emotion, not wanting to make her companions any more anxious than they were.

Nyäel quietly padded along, moving his cumbersome body through the trees. He was having a swell time showing Lyre specific memories, like the first time he felled a doe by himself. It was not that he did not share Alena's worries, but he tended to take things as they came along. In no time at all, they had reached the mid point of the forest. If it had not been apparent before then all would feel how magical this forest was. Alena felt an odd calm come over her, and then a figure stepped out from a large tree. The elf appeared more ethereal than physical, and was incredibly elegant. His mind touched Alena's and swiped away all defenses she had. "The Nightingale returns home, welcome Alena Neyari, and Nyäel-Skulblaka..." Alena twisted her hand over her sternum and blessed Gilderien, moving onward with her horse. Nyäel trumpeted with a loud roar and continued forward, dipping his head to Gilderien. The graceful elf would stop each of the beings entering the forest and either permit or deny them.

Gunnarr "Dagnirslayer" Gherlonssonxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Gunnarr looked over at Alena. Damned dragons and their words. He felt... uneasy.... so he spoke out loud. "I can say for myself and Astrid, we will never betray you or your people. Regardless of the tension between the kins. As for Garim... he's the son of my brother. If he's half the man I believe him to be, he will aid us find out what's going on. As for the rest... I cannot claim to know." He grunted. He let part of his thoughts nab at Alena, so that she alone could understand how he felt: If the dwarves were a global menace, then Gunnarr would but his kinship aside. That was the truth.

Gunnarr was approached by the ethereal. There was a pause, then something tapped his mind. "Son of the Wolf, Hammer of Stone, Slayer of the Corrupted. You are welcomed, so long as kin rivalries--" Gunnarr scoffed. "My mission is my goal. I am here as messenger and envoy of Riders. Nothing more, nothing less. You tree-huggers don't pick a fight, my hammer stays itself." Gunnarr seemed to caught some attention with his outburst, knowing he had interrupted the ethereal. However, the being merely tapped Gunnarr's mind again and allowed him entry. Gunnarr nodded respectfully, then followed after Alena. At the same time, Astrid landed nigh-silently behind him, as she had previously been exploring the area. She did not roar or blow fire, but merely appeared to grin, if a dragon could appear to do so.

For a while he just stood there... why was his end the only way?

Was his sin justified? Can a sin like that BE justified?

No...no matter what the Rock Lizard said he went beyond revenge...but it was no less than what he had returned home to.

He thought about that gentle hand on his shoulder...it reminded him of a better time. He'd spent so many years running from the pain...from the guilt, only to throw him self into battle after battle. Maybe there was another way to find peace...to earn forgiveness, even if it was just self-forgiveness.

Without further hesitation he set out after them...it wasn't a hard trail to follow thanks to Nyäel...

He followed the trail for some time with some difficulty but when the sheer size of the roots began to impede him he was forced to tack to the lower branches of some. Through a combination of his small and light body, natural agility, and sharp reflexes he was able to navigate the branches quite handily. A some points he even fancied he could see Nyäel's head poke above the canopy...

Soon he had come upon them though he did not approach... this part of the forest gave him an eerie feeling... he did not know weather he liked it or not...
It seemed that Alena was speaking with some...one? A being that seemed to personify radiance...

He did not know weather it would be...wise to approach now considering the nature of his introduction to Alena...for now he simply waited and decided what to do next assuming that he was hidden in his perch among the branches... though it was doubtful he'd remain entire unnoticed for very long assuming he had been at all...

XXXPerched securely on top of Nyäel's head, Lyre found herself rather enjoying herself Its been along time since she got to be carried around and Lyre loved the familiarity of it all. Enjoying the specific memories Nyäel showed her, she in particularly enjoy seeing the link and bond between Nyäel and Alena that was apparent through his memories. 'Like she said...the bond is a miraculous thing...' Seeing Nyäel fell a doe by the first time was interesting too. It showed her how dragons start off and the swiftness and agility they process even then. 'And it should have only gotten greater...'

The party would soon approach the mid-point of the forest and mocha brown eyes darkening in awareness, Lyre paid close attention as the air became even more filled with magic. 'It has always been there but now it appears even more apparent...' There was a strange calm that was somewhat unsettling but Lyre remained steady in her perch and as if lying in wait, an ethereal figure stepped out from a large tree. The elf's appearance was almost transparent and appeared as she thought, ethereal. This elf looked not even to be of this earth but he was, just more different than the rest of them. 'Gilderien the Wise..."mother" mentioned him from time to time in our studies...' Noticing movements off to the side, Lyre would watch as Alena twisted her hand over her sternum and blessed Gilderien before continuing on inward on her steed.

Nyäel would trumpet a loud roar before continuing forward. As the dragon bowed, Lyre found herself lowering as well and eyes connecting with the elf would lower her head in deep respect. As she did that, she could feel someone pushing through her defenses and not only did she allow it happen, it was not like she could do anything to block it do to its strength.
"Greetings were-raven, adopted child of Vanya...as you perch freely on Nyäel-Skulblaka and travel with The Nightingale, we shall see you as a companion in their quest and allow entrance..." Bowing once more, Lyre would raise it and direct her gaze forward to see the changes in scenery. 'This is exciting...to be able to enter the Capital...if only it was with her...this would be even better...' From behind, the outburst of the drawf could be heard as he declared his claim as but a messenger and envoy of the Riders. Knowing of the hostilities between races, Lyre could pretty much figure out what sort of statement may have been posed to the dwarf to get him to say such things. 'In these dark times such caution will be even greater amongst kin and race...'

Doral "Blackheart" Kinxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Doral was aroused from his sleep as they neared to Sentry. Doral very carefully landed on the ground as he entered the no-magic zone, not smashing anything under his large body but making himself known by size alone. Drogo snorted out a small puff of flame and trotted very slowly forward. The same Sentry came out of a Tree and stopped Drogo and Doral. Doral looked at the man, etheral and shining, and waited for him to speak. The Primal Hunter returns to the forest. Welcome Doral Kin and Drogo. Doral pounded his chest and grunted his salutations to the man. Well met. Drogo began. I am here to be thrown at the problem, or shield against it. When the mission is done, I shall return from where I came. I do not intend to stay long. The man let them past and Drogo bowed his large head before getting on to walk behind Alena. Will you visit her grave?

After watching a rather burly gentleman enter accompanied by a dragon... he began to wonder just what was going on in there that would be so important that so many riders would attend...

A combination of curiosity and a strong urge to speak with Alena again drove him from his perch at last . He approached with mild trepidation...he could only guess at what might happen to those who were denied entry and for once he wished to survive this encounter with the unknown... he needed to confront her once more...he needed to confirm something ...about himself and her.....

"Alright then...it is my first time talking to...A being of ethereal light-good look for you by the way very slimming-So I suppose I'll start small...Hello...What's your name..." he said with wary look as he inched forward waiting for a sign that he should stop...or continue...

Gilderien the Wise did not look overjoyed nor angry with Salem. He seemed most impassive really, though nodded his head to Salem. "Salem, Son of None...Beware, your one true enemy may very well be yourself...Welcome to Ellesméra." Gilderien clasped his hands together and disappeared in a flash of soft white light.

Salem stood there by himself for a while wondering if it was really a good idea to go in... What did hope to accomplish seeing her again? The answer seemed to flow into him ...

....Hope huh?.... he though to himself with a wry smile as he headed forward into world he did not understand, on an errand he would likely fail...with hope he wasn't sure he had...

This was going to be...interesting.
